QuoteStonesTod his first CBS record - Johnny Winter - is a great place to start. Also, his Imperial record, Progressive Blues Experiment, which came out in '68 is still a great listen. i'm very partial to some of his work on the Blue Sky label in the late 70's, when he returned to more basic blues. Nothin' But the Blues, White Hot & Blue and Raisin' Cain are among

While reading this thread and listening to ITunes on shuffle, The 101'ers doing Out Of Time came up! Probably not a highlight of Joe Strummers career but Not too shabby at all.

QuoteSipuncula I swear I saw a high-def version on the Palladia cable channel a few months ago. It blew me away, and I'd like to get that version, and it sounds like this DVD doesn't cut it. You did, I saw it too. So where's the Blu-ray?

I find myself going to Down In The Hole fairly often to this day, I love it. Although I don't hate it, I never much cared for Back of My Hand. Kind of boring and something "thin" about Mick's vocal.

My favorite Rolling Stones book. Beyond the Stones, it is just a great read for anybody who ever shared an apartment with a couple of other young Knuckleheads.

I have the blu-ray with a 7.1 system and I agree with most of the sound critiques already posted. The sound is very ok but not much separation or depth.

Helmet in 1993 in a glorified gymnasium in Salem, Oregon. So loud everything was distorted and kind of pointless.

I pre-ordered #9 but will probably listen to it once. I am waiting for a big Christian-era release. Seems to me there is supposed to be a concert movie in the can that was never released and there are certainly lots of high quality concerts to choose from for a live CD. Also holding out for a studio version of Long Distance Operator (that is probably a pipe dream).

I downloaded the Mean Old Man single a long time ago and have really enjoyed it, a great song. I did not know Ronnie played on it. You can hear jerry lee and Kris Kristofferson joking around at the end. Quotedeeppurple Track Listings 1. Mean Old Man w/ Ronnie Wood 2. Rockin' My Life Away w/ Kid Rock/Slash 3. Hope it is not akin to the "Arc" portion of the Arc-Weld live release from the Ragged Glory tour. 35 minutes of feedback and noise as art ala tour mates Sonic Youth was kind of a neat idea but would you actually listen to it?

I was trolling through Itunes and came across this CD called Better Than That by Rakatan featuring Mick Taylor and Noel Redding from 1990. It is also available on Amazon. The singer sounds like a slightly more melodic Courtney Love and you can definitely hear MT doing his thing lower in the mix. Any Taylor die hards know anything about this?

No use for either of them. True WTF? moments the first time I heard both, I have gone out of my way to avoid them since. The one good thing I have to say about Out Of Tears is that the CD single has I'm Gonna Drive on it. Although that is hardly a barn burner either.

Quotewindmelody Now Look is fine indeed, his first album was good, Gimme Some Neck features strong riffs, Slide On This had charme, Not For Beginners was ridiculous and amateurish. Not For Beginners is not a go to record for me but I quite like Real Hard Rocker and Heart, Soul & Body. Both tough blues rockers.
