It's a pretty rock n roll movie for Disney, although it is PG-13. The whole soundtrack is pretty much 60s & 70s (since that's when the movie takes place), rock and funk tunes, used quite liberally throughout, often one right after another. There are plenty of 'rock video' kind of sequences. Kept me interested, but it's a pretty good film, anyways.

The knife story I like is when Keith was being interviewed sometime in the mid-70's in Europe, I believe, and the interviewer had heard a rumour that Keith had done so much coke that he literally burned out his nostrils and had a fake nose installed, so the guy somehow leaned over to touch Keith's nose to see if it was real or not, and Keith jumped back and pulled a knife on the guy. QuoteTooTight QuoteTumblinDice76 If you notice, after Sept all dates are in warm climate states. This has been my theory all along. A Fall tour would need to wrap by late Sept or match what the Dead did and start the tour in Aug in the states that will be colder come late Sept/early Oct. Regardless......lets get some tour news please! I haven't seen seating charts yet, but interesting

I think the bootleg 'It's Only Goat's Head Soup', which has outtakes and alternate mixes, sounds a lot fuller and crisper. A lot of albums mixed in/for Dolby back then sound like someone put a pillow in front of the speakers.

They've added backup singers just to make it even less Genesis-y. Guess most of these 'classic' bands do that now. The Moody Blues did it in 1986, and of course, The Stones in '89...

Crosby Stills & Nash, whom I'd already seen, but was a huge fan, or Hot Tuna, who I knew were from Jefferson Airplane, who I also loved, but nothing else, in 1988. I went with CSN, but so did everyone else, apparently, because Tuna only sold 10 tickets and cancelled. ZZTop (for free, no less) or Beck (not Jeff) in 2017. As I was on a Beck bender at the time, and he was playing in a t

QuoteHairball Quotemosthigh I thought the songs with the orchestra were really the meat of the show, and the band-only section was good, but a little thin compared to the Hits50 tour. Bassist John Button is more Entwistle-ish than Pino Palladino, but not as big (ie. loud) sounding. I was lucky enough to score a 3rd row ticket for the Vancouver show a few days before at more than half face. Add t

I was in a Stones tribute band and we did 'Star Star' sometimes, and it always went over well, but we were playing generally to an over-40 crowd who weren't weaned on pc. One time, I was telling a friend about a great band from the Southern US, and mentioned they were 'black guys' (meaning they were soulful), and his younger girlfriend kinda chortled at that. Damn mill

QuoteLieB QuoteJavadave Supposedly, the Stones barred it’s wide distribution because the were worried that the images of rampant sex and drug use would lead to them being banned from performing in the U.S. Can’t see that as even a remote possibility anymore. Time to end the censorship and officially release it as the artifact of a long ago, cherished time that it is. I agree, but some of its

QuoteRockman Love to see an official copy of this and a good few months ago, somebody put a better quality version on YouTube which was really good, but soon taken down. To me, that suggests an official release is on the horizon. A good (?) reason to take a video down (especially in high quality) is because it will interfere with sales from the official release.

Just watched it last night. Overall pretty good. I liked some of the arrangements, others not so much. The musicians who were on the 'Bowie Celebration' tour last year were obviously more on their game. It was nice to see David Sanborn in there, as well as other alumni. I thought Bernard had the best handle out of everyone on vocals. Macy Gray sounded rough, and Ian Hunter was just ok.

I think Lisa and Bernard were/are great, but Keith made too many concessions to Mick for the 1989 tour, including backup singers and a synth/keyboard guy. He did get Bobby Keys back in the band, though. Keith and Ronnie and Jeff Beck should have had an intervention with Mick and really layed it out for him.
