Media costs are just probably an easy way to point out one of the reasons to use ProTools. But as computer performance increased (my first DAW software around 1995 did not allow real-time mixing, for instance), there is just so much convenience in using a DAW : virtually illimited track count, non-destructive editing, instant availability of software effects, take and alternative mixes management

QuoteKRiffhard QuoteRocky Dijon There are Pro Tools credits on GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY a decade before the archival releases. Right, and in fact i remember an awful album. I don't think it has anything to do with ProTools - On 40 Licks ProTools was only used to shape up songs from longer jams, in the same way Start Me Up was shaped up from endless jams. It's only a tool...

At least in 2002, Don Was was already bringing home the day's jams to edit with ProTools. Also in the press kit for A Bigger Bang I believe we can see some Digidesign hardware near a MacBook, meaning that they probably were using ProTools there too.

QuotePapoGreat that authorities allowed yesterdays concert at Le Zenith, although I would understand ongoing cancellations of events, as the police got their hands full and might not need any big gatherings of people at concerts etc. to take care of, too. In the light of today's event, and knowing that heavily armed attackers were still near Paris, I can understand the cancellations, since

QuoteNaturalustPerhaps someone from Paris will clear this up for us, because even if it isn't the artists themselves cancelling these shows, it sure looks like a sign of helplessness and defeat from the outside. If it's the administration saying no shows since they don't want large assemblies or something yet that's still a sign of fear and helplessness, no? I m not in the

QuoteNaturalustIt's one of the reasons I'm disappointed in the Artists that are cancelling shows in Paris! Who are the Artists who haven't cancelled their shows there? These are the ones I want to give a nod to. Apparently most shows were cancelled for administrative reasons and were not the bands doing. I have no definitive information about other shows but Motorhead and Marilyn

QuoteNaturalustOne thing that was sure noticeable from the concert footage I've seen is that the SA audiences are a lot younger than US audiences....certainly a contributing factor to the amazing energy and wildness they show to the Stones down there. A contributing factor, maybe. But it's not just age-related. It's in the local culture, it's in the blood.

Quotedcba Perfection I don't know but this is basically what Andy Johns said of the early 1974 IORR sessions : they would play take after take, each one worse and more tepid the previous one, until Keef would suddenly declare without any reason "that's it! that's the one!!". I thought that was Glyn who said that?

Quotewith sssoulCould well be Roy - thanks Gwen. I'll dig around to see if I can locate that article. I don't know if the Rob Fraboni's blog has already been posted here, I just discovered it today. A real gem, actually. 4 KR-related blog entries.

Quotewith sssoulI don't remember the fellow's name. Would that be Roy Martin, who's credited with logistics on the Wingless Angels? Quotewith sssoul Quotegwen Do we know if the person who unlocked Amnesia actually went to Dartford to unlock the song? Or did that person just fake his/her location using some tools? No, we don't know that - or anyway I don't - but why are you asking, if I may ask? Because as the location is sent by your own browser, it is usually quite easy to fool. I wondered if someone had actu

I just gave it a listen. At first I wouldnt call it Keith's best, but it surely doesnt pale compared to the previous two. A beautiful trilogy. I just try to imagine how floored I would have been if this had been released prior august, 2012. That year, I was first relieved to see Keith standing on his two feet, all smiles and joking outside Suresnes. Then later, again relieved to hear him

QuoteNaturalustI agree there are noticeable differences in in-ear monitors but the stereo imaging shouldn't be effected at all. I can assure you it is sometimes affected. For instance, the stock ear-buds shipped with my ipod nano before I got the Shure would not only leak awfully but also pan everything very hard, either dead center or far left/right. More specifically, I "feel&quo

QuoteGasLightStreet I used some in ears this week. Horrible. I don't understand how that is the thing to shoot for with a mix. No bass... just... awful. It reeally depends on the ones you used, really - I don't really like headphones because I can't wear them too long. Usually it presses the branch of my glasses against my ears and it gets painful. And hot too. And I also like

I may be wrong but I kind of understand why Mick would fine the original mix too dry to be released on iTunes. The main target of this release would be mobile listeners using headphones or in-ears, without the natural reverb of a living room. A little more reverb makes sense, right?

Their talents in sound-crafting are underrated I think. People talk about their abilities to entertain a crowd, to play guitar, drums, bass and harp. But to my eyes, the beauty in the Stones is the focus on the songs and the way they craft arrangements. This owes a lot to the people that surround them, but producers and players have come and gone and still the sound is here. The other thing I

QuoteGfmsoccer 2 things about Lucky Dip tickets. The rules of using them are pretty restrictive. It does depend on how each venue enforces those rules. In 2013 Lucky Dips stands were supervised by Stones security who briefed local staff. The process was not really different for the 3 shows I attended.
