Where did I read that Keith said in an interview : "I think by the end of April we'll go down to Los Angeles for a couple of weeks and then take it down to San Diego to work on the stage" ? Was I dreaming ?

Very special venue, great weather... Probably the coolest ever front row thanks to the stairs just in front. I'd say the day maybe had been too hot for both the band and the crowd. But a great show anyway.

I am not sure what the real effects of this law will be. In France there are (very old) laws against this but they are not really enforced. For instance, one old from 1919 law states that for shows where public money is involved, resale of tickets above face value is forbidden. For instance, festivals. For the latest Stade de France show (it was hard to get front of stage tickets), I did play

My question was specifically about Micawber - actually he seemed surprised by the question and said no one uses that. I didnt have much time to go into details or ask about pots... They were just on a break near the back entrance after setting up the session before the band arrived.

Quotenankerphlege The biggest to Keith's sound on a tele apart from correct/close pickups isnt the bridge but having a swamp ash body tele with the broadcaster circuit or dark circuit. Tune it to open g and you are there. The change is amazing and when I strummed it the first time with this wiring I could hear that distinctive tele keith tone that I have never been able to get. QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Jagger in the SAL film on the song "Some Girls" plays a mena rhythm guitar. What IMO makes that guitar performance is the autnhority with whoch he plays it. Exactly the example I would give for the stiffness of his live playing. As I said, the focus on singing may very well be the reason.

QuoteDandelionPowdermanIn general, I think Mick's rhythm playing is too much on the beat (the safe approach), which really is the antithesis of the Stones sound (all eras). It may have to do with singing while playing but I find his live guitar playing very stiff.

Technically, since it is fitted with two humbuckers, wouldn't it be more correct to call it a L4S? The reissue project in the mid-2000s included a single pickup L5S (similar to Ronnie's in the 80s) and a dual pickups L4S.

Great tune, thanks! I may be naive but I believe Keith likes good music, his entourage knows this and somehow good music seems to find its way to Keith. Good luck!

QuoteDoc At the beginning of MissYou, Mick had a problem with his guitar 2 times in a row in 2013 : at the Mogador show and at the O2 premiere I remember that as well, and think the problem was also at the Trabendo. I believe the guitar strap was pulling the IEM cable.

Quotewith sssoul QuotegwenI think it was Michael Cohl at theater shows. But but but gwen honey Michael Cohl had nothing to do with the 2012-14 shows. You're right - I misread your post and see you already mentioned him. I was talking about Licks. That Charlie thing is getting to my head. Sorry about that.

Funny that you mention this tune. It was a favorite of the Stones rehearsals in Bondy in the early days in 2012. Not so OT after all.

At rehearsals in Bondy, Keith had to take a leak - does this count?

Quotewith sssoulAnd I don't think they had any announcers at all in 2012-2015, except maybe at the club/theater shows. I think it was Michael Cohl at theater shows.

Great interview, thanks! Surprised no compression is used, especially on the drums. Keith s sound through the PA only missed a bit of punch compared to his direct sound at rehearsals. At that time, I remember talking about the brightness to Mathijs who thought it was because the tubes were new. But it remained very bright throughout the tour

QuoteDandelionPowderman Keith down left - WITH the metal plate... Yes, the typical JT headstock. But also most probably a very typical (for JT) metal body. Even though it seems JT's catalogue now include wood bodies with a metal table inlay.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotegwen No way this is a James Trussard. Why? Keith is featured on Trussard's webpage now, btw. Simply because it would be a huge step back for James to design a guitar without a hint of metal which has been his signature for about 20 years. On the photo you mention, you can quite clearly see the metal finish.

They are not easy to find. I had been looking for a while when Gibson reissued a cheap Les Paul Jr single cutaway in faded nitro finish... So I gave up my neverending search and bought one, brand new.. Two weeks later, I came across a double cutaway Custom Shop LP Jr VOS in TV yellow on eBay priced €1200. I did not resist. Conclusion : dont give up your search!

Keith's direct sound at rehearsals in Bondy was very punchy and bright. It is probably forever engraved in the lucky limited audience´ eardrums, as it is in mine. Through the PA at shows, I found some of that edge was lost.
