I can't resist... Man walks into a bar and orders a shot of wiskey. He drinks the shot and then looks into his shirt pocket. He orders another shot of wiskey, drinks it and looks in his pocket again. This same pattern repeats itself another 10 times until the bartender can't contain his curiosity and asks, "Sir, may ask what you're looking at in your pocket after each sh

Quote71Tele << my stage rig includes only my bass guitars (sorry 71Tele) >> Hey, dja "basses" is faster to type than "bass guitars"! (Just a thought). Beatles (specifically Geoff Emerick) pioneered mixing direct and live amp sound. This became the standard way to record McCartney's "bass guitar" parts. Thx 4 d haha '71! I'll try 2 s

Thanks for the insight BOMH... I should have figured that humidity would play a factor as it definitely does with heat. Thanks to all for posting some beautiful pictures. Don't know if I'd call Carlos' beautiful outside of sheer amazement for what mother nature can deliver. All the best wishes for your safety. I hope everyone in the northern hemisphere manages to stay warm.

I hope not. For what I have to pay to get into a Stones show, Mick better sing his A55 of and actually EARN my money! Plus, what would Lisa, Bernard & Blondie do if we were to do their parts for them?!?! Seriously though, with respect to carlos' question, I won't deny that it's a cool feeling for both crowd and band to be involved in something like what's shown above.

To everybody all at once... Joker, Are you saying that a compressor improves the sound of a bass or just alters it in a way that can't be undone? In certain circumstances I might agree with both but in many cases I'd have to disagree with the first part. On the Knack video, I believe that is a Vigier I played one in France about 20 years ago and fell in love. Haven't seen on

Quotenankerphlege I wonder what happened to Beck's other bass player? Tal something. She was great. Not sure what she's up to right now but her full name is Tal Wilkenfield. Not only a great technical player but I also love the fact that she's got such a geart feel for the groove and an obvious love of playing. She just looks like she's having fun. Peace, Mr DJA

Quote71Tele Hey Mr. DJa: What is the Steve Bailey Bass VI you referred to? I have the 90s Japan reissue Bass VI, but have not heard of the other one. Cheers. Out for about a year. I think that 2009 was first production year and am not 100% sure it's even available in 2010 production though new one's do seem to be available online. I've yet to actually have one in my hands but t

QuoteBeelyboy i'd go see fricken Charles anywhere tho And I'd be there with you on both of your last two postings. Although, on some levels, it can be argued that Brian started the band, I feel that what became The Rolling Stones started on a train platform and only Mick & Keith were there that day. If I'm not mistaken, is it accurate to say that only Mick & Keith have

Quotegripweed DJA, Thanks, When I bought it I was told it was a 1969 Hofner, I later learned it may have been an Early 70's Hofner, either way it was a FUN Bass to play we should start a thread with OUR Guitar Collections ... Sweet Hofner Gripweed! Looks to be in great shape too. How old? I've got to get some pictures of my babies so I can post them sometime. I did manage to get a picture of all the six-string basses together as they're all "natural blondes". Hmm... wonder where that got to... Peace, Mr DJA

Quote71Tele Mr. Dja: I don't want to beat a dead horse (or bass), but my opinion that a bass is not a guitar is by no means unique or arcane. They are two different instruments. I won't be redundant and repeat why that is...The Fender Bass VI is a cross between an electric bass and a guitar. A baritone guitar is a guitar offshoot in a way that an electric bass is a standup bass offshoot

QuoteAddicted I remember SwayStones. It was all in the MJ-thread. The paedophile who still posts here, had some comments I found disturbing in that thread, too. I really don't feel comfortable with phaedophiles in our forum. It's a real put off, and just knowing he's here really upsets me. Do we have to put up with it? Does anyone feel the same way?
