To help Sway with the "Jist" of things (Jist = Implied or Unsaid meaning - I think!) If I understand Mick's lyrics and Swiss' interpretation of them, back in college, we called "Backstreet Girls or Guys" "F*ck Buddies". More recently, I think that a "Booty Call" would be placed on short notice to one's "Backstreet Girl or Guy".

I saw the Black Crowes last night in Knoxville, TN and if there's a better American band RIGHT NOW than those guys, they're going to have to be amazing to pull it off. Say what you want about Chris Robinson's vocals (like 'em or not) but for much of the negatives that are constantly mentioned about The Stones current state of affairs, The Crowes have none of those problems.

To add to some of the information Beelyboy found/provided. While there is no doubt that the neck length and width are going to factor into a person's ability to play a bass, this can actually be compensated for by adjusting the length of the strap and pulling the entire bass closer to your shoulders than your waist. A low hung guitar may LOOK cooler but a higher hung guitar gets easier t

Jack, In case you haven't realized it yet, the world is ALREADY SAD and youtube is alive and well. Youtube is not going to cure disease, feed the hungry or house the homeless. It's never going to bring about world peace or clean the environment either. There are BILLIONS of people living worldwide in poverty who have never seen or heard of youtube and could care less if it went

Sway - Unfortunately I'm not nearly as familiar with Brussels as I'd like to be. I got to spend the summer of 1991 in western Europe and haven't been able to get back there since. I did enjoy Brussels and would love to get back there. Heck... Just get me to Europe and I'll be happy! Can you still buy EuroRail passes that allow you to travel when you please? What a great

QuoteBluzDude I have a bass question, normally I would have started my own thread, but since bv wants to limit OT Threads, I will post my question here. Sway, I apologize, I do not mean to hijack this thread, I am hoping for a quick answer. Regarding bass strings, While I have been playing guitar for over 40 years, I picked up the bass about 10 years ago and started getting serious abou

Best wishes to all his family & friends. Truely a sad day for music lovers everywhere. I've yet to hear from a drummer who doesn't respect Richie's playing. I'll personally never forget the first time I saw Little Feat... I went out and bught Waiting For Columbus the next day. What a great band. According to their website, they're actually on the road in Europe

Just finished the first run-through (after Amazon finally delivered it yesterday). Really good album. Fun to hear some of the altered versions as well as some which are played close to the originals just with different instrumentation. Really fond myself liking the female vocalists on many of the tunes they were on... used to good effect. I'll miss these guys while they're on &quo

BV's link is to an article about Mick and has links to many additional articles about musicians and band's that worked at Longview during his tenure there. What I didn't see was an easy way to get to the essays he wrote about the entire process behind the Stones using Longview for their 81 tour prep. That link follows... takes you to the first page with MANY links down the l

I don't want to hijack the thread - I LOVE the Crowes - My wife, my 15 year old daughter and I have 3rd row seats to see them when they come to Knoxville in September - but... I would like to ask stones77 (or others) if they'd be willing to recommend some of their favorite Tragicly Hip albums for me. I was doing some shopping on Amazon this morning (ordered Croweolgy among others) a

My wife & I had our honeymoon 3 years ago at the couples resort in Ocho Rios & LOVED it. Although you're only going to be there for a few hours some of the things we learned will probably help... 1. STAY WITH THE GROUP - it's a third world country and although the authorities do the best the can to protect the tourists, you can go from safe to dangerous very quickly. 2.

Gonna chime in on this one... First off let me just say: I LOVE SMOKING! OK. Now that I've got that off of my chest, we'll go on to part two... I am a recovering "Nicoholic" and have not had any nicotine since August of 2007. My last cigarette story isn't nearly as dramatic as Marv's (glad you're still with us man!) but it's somewhat similar

And he insists the president, despite his rhe

Quote71Tele Nice post, dja. I currently have a Hofner Beatle Bass, a Fender Mustang Bass, and a Fender VI. I am getting one of the new mid-range Hofner Club basses to convert into a fretless (I wouldn't do that to a vintage one!). These have a sustain block in the body, unlike the original Hofners. If you ever want to hear great fretless technique on a pop/rock record, get "Cosi Fan Tut
