To meet there is Rock-n-Roll and there is Rock. Rock-n-Roll swings, invites people to dance or shake, rattle and roll. Led Zeppelin in rock. ACDC is rock. Stones are mostly rock. Rock Around The Clock - Bill Haley and the Comets Johnnie B Goode (though No Particular Place To Go works) - Chuck Berry - could name 10 of his songs and have a great list without adding anyone else. I owned a printing company for many years. I wish I kept waste sheets from some of the CD packaging we printed. I'd have made more money. Large lithographic printing presses use from 100 to 800 sheets of paper to set them up and get the inks consistent and the color matching what it should. To save money and reduce physical waste, printers will use previously printed waste paper from oth

Given the state of PA's still in 1966, and that the show was played to a half-filled arena, I am guessing that any audience recording is a big echo, lol. The Buffalo newspapers of the time ran articles about the lack of interest or enthusiasm for tickets for the show, and the sparse crowd - questioning if the could be the 'last time' for the Stones. The bad was a thing of the pa

I remember seeing him climb to the top of a massive speaker tower at a stadium show in Buffalo circa 1977-78 during Katmandu. Tight band. Part of an odd bill for a daytime show with Donovan, J Geils Band, Bob Seger and after some fun rock n roll and blues....Yes. Kind of a contrast between 3 minute rockers and a 20 minute mellow tune. Not even a light show to add some mood. Seeing Magic Dick

Love to hear that version of his band, Mops. I only have a recording from a bit before he died, from a small club here in Buffalo with the Suffering Bastards. Actually a good recording or songs that Bobby (according to Bobby) played on in his career (I keep doubting he was old enough to play on Dion's The Wanderer, but wtf do I know lol). I did not get to the show but it sounds like it was

I paid $21 Canadian for my ticket ($16 US at the time) and brought my then 13 yr old son with me, driving up from Buffalo the day of the show, checking into a downtown hotel and taking a 15 minute subway ride to the show. No traffic, no hassles - really well run. We got there when the Flaming Lips were on-stage. Skipped the first couple of bands as I wanted to check out other parts of the e

I may be wrong, but at one if the 2 Brussels shows, didn't Keef kind if jump the gun on Mick's harmonica opening? Mick says something like 'someone's quick tonite?' and Keef launches into it at a faster tempo? Thinking the pre-show coke was amazing that night? OK, maybe they had an extra cup of tea.... I personally MUCH prefer the guitars in 1973 to any Stones shows

For a while before Brian left he was barely contributing. My take on Wyman is that several of most memorable bass lines in the history of the Stones were created by and/or played by others. Many many other bassists could have added more. Taylor kick started the band. His writing contributions, credited or not, far outweigh Brian's and Bill's.

The 1978 Tour had very short shows. The Some Girls songs were relatively short, and played fast. Miss You was not the extended (way too long IMO) thing it has been since. I believe the show in Buffalo was well under 90 minutes.

"The Quiet One" I always identify with the greatest bass player ever in rock and roll: John Entwistle. Of my three favorite bass parts on Stones records: Live With Me, Miss You and Emotional Rescue....Bill played only one, Miss You, and he was just mimicking the bass line Billy Preston created on the demo. I think he's also missing on some Exile songs. To me, and maybe to th

Sadly, there is no shortage of ignorant and uneducated people in the world, who choose to trust and believe other ignorant people and leaders who lead with fear and disinformation. Sadly, no country is immune. Ignorance is as great a threat as any viral or bacterial illness.

The lack of competition in ticket selling has led to virtual monopolies that know they can dictate terms to consumers, bands and venues. Remember Pearl Jam's battle with Ticketmaster? Tours and Events going on sale months before their performance date gives them even more time to play the float game, using our money to invest and make more money. Every decent size bank uses the float (t

Thank you for all the work! I have heard a story (and it may be urban legend - I do not have any idea if it is true) that Jimmy Page once said that Keith's rhythm guitar from El Mocambo for Dance Little Sister is perfection. I have not heard a clean version of the track. Looking forward to it. Why don't they play Dance Little Sister more? Seems it would be a great stadium son

My favorite song at Black and Blue, by far. Simply as a player, I think Wayne Perkins had the ability to take where Mick Taylor brought to the band and continue or improve it. Tone and soul. They chose Woody who was from the UK, and had the party vibe and rock star image...over a player like Taylor. (I personally would have loved to see what Wayne could have brought to the band on a full albu

Most tours, I think the Stones have managed to bring interesting or relevant opening acts along for the ride. Some I liked and some I was not a fan of a all, but all worth giving a listen to. J Geils, Elvis Costello, Living Colour, Beck, St Paul & The Broken Bones, Journey (not my thing), Thorogood (amazing), No Doubt (not my thing but relevant), AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots (when they were

In 2015, a friend that went along with us to the stadium did some walking around 1 hour before the show and got a great seat for $40. If you only need a single, there are seats available for any arena or stadium show just before showtime. Because this is a big 1970s era stadium it is spread out. I've been seeing shows there since the 70s, and have season tix for Bills games. IMO, for a

I felt the same way before I saw them live a couple of times in 78 for the first time, then in 81. In 78 I felt Ronnie and Keef were weak, their weaving style did not work for me. In 81 they were much improved. They were way better in 89 and actually kept improving, in the late 90s, 2003, 2005, on to 2015 and beyond, so far. Keep and Ronnie are just blowing me away at this point, more than at a

I jumped and bought 2 in the first row of the upper deck for $163 each. Of course after 'service' fees they became $195 each. The stadium is so spread out (I was a season ticket holder for football for over 25 years) that unless you are on the first half of the floor you are likely watching most of the show on video. At least I know with being in the first row, no one will be standing

Things to do with an 8 year old in Buffalo. A bit depends on what your 8 yr old is into. If you don't have passports for all, you'll have to stay on the US side, where there is: Niagara Falls (on the US side the Cave of the Winds or Maid Of The Mist ride can be quite an experience for an 8 yr old), Buffalo Zoo (small, but that can be a good thing if an 8 yr old is walking),

A couple of people mentioned the Hammer Lot. I just spoke with Hammer. He is trying to recover his password so he can post on the board. But he is working on trying to connect with Shidoobee also and try to put together a tailgate party at his lot, possibly with live music as he did in 2015. No real details yet, but he did want to let people know he is up for putting a party together, reserve

I am sitting out all the presales. The stadium is very close to my home, under 2 miles. But the ticket prices are way too high. If it was an indoor show, smaller venue, maybe, but not in that setting. For $400 I can see 20 other shows this summer and actually be close enough to see the band without a video screen. For the ticket I would like along the catwalk with a good view, I believe the

If flying in from Europe, it may be much cheaper to fly to Toronto, rent a car and drive the 2 hours to Buffalo. When going to Europe, we always fly out of Toronto because of the lower fares and access to many more airlines. Buffalo is a smaller city. I live just over a mile from the venue. There are a few lousy motels I would not recommend nearby, but they will be over-charging for room

Uber was pretty new to Buffalo in 2015. Much easier now for either Uber or Lift and the drivers have familiarity with getting people to the stadium for (American) football games over the last few seasons, with designated drop-off and pickup points.
