Hi, I've got a few questions regarding this compilation. - Reelin' and Rockin', Good Bye Girl and Key to the Highway were also recorded at Chess Studios, but they are not on this compilation. Does it mean that no stereo mix of these has ever surfaced ? - Is there something special with these masters of We Love You and Dandelion ? Weren't they recorded at Olympics ?

The piano has the same really modern sound on these 5 titles, it sounds more recent than the backing tracks of the songs. It may be played by Chuck Leavell though. And how do we know that Fast Talking was recorded in 1974, not 1972 ? Maybe it got the same treatement as Short and Curlies (recorded in 1972, reworked in 1974) ?

Theses 5 songs seem to have been overdubbed quite recently with the same piano player : Can't Find Love, Keep It Cool, Part of the Night, Still in Love, I Can't See No One Else. Were they planned for an official release at some point?

That collection shows they were able to compose great songs throughout their whole career. Makes me think that their lesser times were only "less work" times, not "less creative" times. So many opportunities for great songs were lost...

To be trustful to the Jamaica sessions only : remove Silver Train which was recorded in 1970 and Hide Your Love that was started in London in May 73. And add Criss Cross and Through the Lonely Nights

Several reviews describe it as Brown Sugar-éduqué. I really don't hear BS at all... Criss Cross' riff is similar to BS, that's true. Actually, ATR belongs to the Good Time Women/All Down the Line (alternate bonus take) family : straight rock'n'rollers

My bad ! I meant that more details and interactions between vocals, instruments and drums can be heard which make these mixes more lively. A less compressed sound would be even better I guess.

I'm loving the remix so far. DWMD, ST, CYHTM and SF's dynamics are greatly improved. More detailed vocals and instruments, punchier drums give them much more consistency.

I think that the Single Mix and the BBC Mix are different : the BBC mix is shorter. The second main guitar starts at around 00:10 on both mixes, the final "Scarlet, you excite me" is around the 03:00 on the Single Mix and around the 02:40 mark on the BBC Mix. Plus the second main guitar is higher in the BBC Mix. The BBC Mix can be heard on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show podcast thr

Quotepepganzo Quoteswimtothemoon My personal opinion is I could not imagine the album not having those tunes. Yes. The power of the album are also those tunes. I'm talking about the atmosphere. In an album are important good tracks (and in Exile there are a lot of great tracks) but as in LIB are other tuner that give to the album its atmosphere. So yes to - Casino Boogie, Stop breaking

QuoteGetYerAngie I just don't get your point. The four sides are brilliant the way they are. And Soul Survivor is perfect where it is. But each to his own of course. I slightly disagree : for me Soul Survivor is weaker after Shine a Light... But as you say, each to his own...

All right guys! It seems like we have bunch of 1st category player :-) Really, no bad transition on the album ? ... like Rip This Joint after Rocks Off ? Rip This Joint is the absolute weapon to shake the house but Rocks Off has already put it upside down, so why throw Rip This Joint at that moment ? Seems like a missed opportunity for me... On the other hand, Happy leaves you stoned after Kei

Hi all, Exile on Main Street has been discussed a billion times : some love it, some don't get it and the rest don't get why they keep talking about it. I definitely belong to the second group : so many great songs, so many styles, but I just can't listen to it from Rocks Off to Soul Survivor without skipping a couple of songs... Why ? Is it a problem with the songs ? Is it a p

Thanks for your answers ! Regarding Mick Taylor's sound, was it also distortion that produced his heavier and denser sound ?

Hi all, I've been listening closely to the differences in the sounds of the band on the US tour 72, Pacific tour 73 and European 73. The evolution is obvious but I don't know what it is due to : - Keith's guitar : in Australia, the sound is harsher than in 1972 and in Europe, he the sound is fatter and louder. - Mick Taylor's guitar : I can't hear much difference bet

I was frankly suprised when I read that Keith plays the lead on this one. The lead has some lazyness I usually associate with Mick Taylor and I cannot think of another lead by Keith sounding like this one... Pleasant track anyway !

Hi all, I attended the premiere in Paris yesterday. Did anybody else in the world do the same ? :-) I think that it is quite good. I'm not a big fan of the Hyde Park audio concert released on iTunes but the performance in the movie is on par with it. Many songs are the same versions but I can't say which ones for sure. I found that the sound was OK but I was kind of disappointe

They haven't toured for 6 years, I guess they remember too well 78's bad appreciations of their tour (too many new songs, too few warhorses) and play it safe for this one. But I think they might take more chances in UK or later if they tour Europe. BTW, what is the best boot for NS tour (I mean best performance at a G quality level min) ?

Hi, I don't want to add up to Taylor vs Wood soloing skills debate but I really need to speak when it comes to disparage Taylor for his rhythm guitar playing. Carol and LQ on GYYYO are overdubbed ? fine. I'll take YCAGWYW in 1972. It's often praised (or criticized...) for the solo but for me the real magic starts before that, when Taylor adds little licks that just create a f
