Quoteroller99 Unless you are an African-American backup singer around the same age, you should not criticize her. Interview with Lisa Fischer you can not be serious. like others have mentioned, her voice is gone quite a lot for years now. it would not be too surprising that´s the reason for touring without her.

QuoteTurner68 the ballads wouldn't sound as good without the rockers mixed in. it's a very carefully thought out album IMO. maybe it will be one of the last true "albums" as it's clearly intended to be listened to all the way through. i didn´t listen all the way through. i also don´t believe in the album concept and i doubt most of the artists think like that when writi

Quotematxil QuoteMathijs I have to say it again. Lover's Plea is among the best work of the Stone and Richards. It's utterly fantastic. Mathijs Yes. My favourites till now are "Suspicious", "Illusion", "Just A Gift", "Goodnight Irene" and "Lover's Plea". So, the ballads, one way or other. The rockers I find okay, but sound

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotematxil QuoteRoughJusticeOnYa Piano lick on "Blues in the Morning" is taken from Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie". Anybody agree? Would love to see if we all, joined forces, could reach a comprehensive list of all references like these; obvious inspirations for riffs, licks, breaks & things.... Some earlier reflected the "Demon&q

QuoteBashlets Hey # 11 is nothing to sneeze at in the USA. Fantastic album all the way around. My favorite since Tattoo YOU. I just cant stop playing it. There really isnt one clunker on it imho. Considering it is probably not getting any air play # 11 is awesome. Talk is Cheap only peaked at what? # 23 or so and MAIN OFFENDER did not even crack the top 50 so 11 is good. best since Tattoo You?

Quotestonehearted <<Now I get Jack White's complaint, they sound like a really watered down version of The White Stripes.>> At least they have a drummer who can play play drums. Q: Exactly what were the White Stripes anyway? A: Jack White wanting to call himself a group. Q: Why did Jack White leave the White Stripes? A: Because there was nothing for him to leave. the b

QuoteNaturalust QuoteHMS Steve Lillywhite would be the best guy for this job. LOL. As one of the only people on this site who like Dirty Work you would say that. But I actually love some of the other records he has produced, I guess it all depends on the material he has to work with. It would be cool if they got a different producer for every song! Everybody could have a chance to work with

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteSL818 Daniel Lanois has a signature sound. Everyone he produces sounds the same. He is also way too old school for my taste. Bring back the Dust Brothers or whatever kids are hip right now. Christ, no! They ruined a perfectly good blues on B2B The only songs worth listening to on B2B are Flip the switch, Anybody seen my baby, Saint of me, all produced by the

QuoteDandelionPowderman <the album was recorded on analog tape> judging from "trouble" they only used tape to get the sound, but then transferred it into the computer with lot´s of edits and overdubs and pitch and time corrections. so not exactly old school. not sure tape is worth the hassle in this case.

QuoteHMS Hummm... never cared too much for this. Most part of the album is boring, a few songs are quite good but offer nothing remarkable new, Stones-by-numbers & Chuck-Berry-routine, sometimes done in a quite enjoyable way, but nothing really exciting. Listening to this album I always have a "The Stones imitating the Stones"-feeling. A big yawn is always underway. Dancing with

i kind of agree. i prefer studio version to live version any day. there is not one single exception. not a problem though, at latest since the beatles no one can do live what can be done in the studio.
