Officially, Andrew produced TSMR, even though he was absent for a lot of the recording sessions... essentially they produced it themselves. What would have happend had they not got Jimmy Miller? Hmmm...

He also overdubbed new takes(drums and bass for example) over original parts on some of the albums!!! I forget which one(s).

Mick has said that one of the things that pissed him off re Brian was the fact that he didn't really want to be in it anymore, but carried on anyway.

"Virgin - Pipes of Pan was their only official CD release." Did Virgin actually re-release that? I have a CD but it's on a different label.

But vinyl is not a true representation of a master tape.

It all depends when this hypothetical sacking would take place. And of course, the stones exist without keith on some recordings, they dont suffer from his absence imo.

I think he's meaning the shapes, not the actual chord names. Regardless of capo's... Live he starts with the G chord, but on the studio version he starts with a D chord shape.

Why do I need to do better? It's not a competition! Bill's rolling with the stones is full of little comments about working around Keith's problems and visa worries and so on, Page 408 onwards in particular.

They did a short European tour in 1967... No one was able to hear much music at gigs because of screaming anf rioting, 1967 was especially bad for riots, so in all probablitiy this was the major factor in them stopping. Add to that all the internal problems going on, plus the Beatles stopped touring before to concentrate on recording and showed that it could work.

I know they have toured Europe in 1970-71, but I'm obviously focusing on the USA... It's very telling that they didn't tour the usa in 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1974. I think it's more that they HAD to tour in 1969 so Brian not being able to, physically, mentally and most likely legally, nor wanting to obviously forced the issue of his leaving. But all this Keith'

Once you move away from the first pressings, generally speaking quality tends to get inferior, thinner vinyl, sometimes a different master is used, reduced packaging and so on.

Anyone can be replaced, you just have to find someone to fill the spot, whether it works or is accepted by the public is another matter.

For those who have the stones April 11th 1967 gig, check out the start of satisfaction, sounds like Brian is laying down some 'out there' fuzz-feedback guitar ala hendrix!

Also... playing a vinyl album is more of an 'event', you have the nice larger cover to admire(especially if the album has a far out sleeve) and you have to get up to change sides. I find I 'concentrate' more when I listen to an lp... Active listening! CD's encourage passive listening, but they are way more handy for working out parts and so on.

1969/1970 was a ripe time for big changes in groups... So imo Keith could have been replaced circa 1969, he wasn't seen the same way as he is now, or since circa 1972. There are some bands who have replaced a key member and still gone on to greater things, ie The Yardbirds. Of course, they would have sounded VERY different and may even have brought about a name change if they had. B
