I was listening to 'Debris' and others from 'A Nod's As Good As A Wink' like 'Stay With Me' 'Miss Judy's Farm' they share a vibe with Stones' music. Rockman says it best, the Faces share the roots but aren't as based in the blues

right on he's a soul stylist, Jagger, well.. both good athletes, though. I guess its the lighter side of the Stones that the Faces compare to...

its all there with the Faces. what you listen for in the Stones is there in the Faces. There's a theatrical musical drunken swagger in both. All the silliness along with toughness, and musical inventiveness, along with great sing-a-longs, is there in both bands. Only difference is the extremely labored record-making that characterizes the Stones. You can't imagine a 2000 Light

Ah Sam Spade, and Lukester, at the (then named) Bobcats Arena Show, do you remember Keith coming out to sing his 2 songs, saying 'hey, you didn't have to build us a new one...!' I enjoyed the show, especially seeing and hearing Charlie, as I thought the drums were miked very well, and he had his orange t shirt on but overall the show never really took off, had a kind of goi

inopeng: yeah I'm more amazed at the high level of each song every time I watch it.. especially the newer ones, 'Saint Of Me', 'Out Of Control', ... you were at several No Security shows, I'm guessing. I still think that tour ranks with the best ('72)

Quoteinopeng Duke, A big favor to ask of you, please - does your video show Keith shaking hands with someone from the runway on the way back to the main stage from the B-stage or does someone get in the way of the camera view for a little while? It was me he shook hands with and I would love to get a film of it! Thanks... inopeng' after looking close, I see Keith shaking hands wi

you're right on especially about Keith. No f**king around, playing that slide on 'You Got The Silver' any listening or viewing of this show will confirm it as one of the greats I didn't realize it at the time, but in hindsight it's clear (to me, anyway) As much as I love the '72 Stones, 1999 had a lot of the same strength, and one can trace a lot of it

from a fellow southerner in Charlotte a great show, Charlotte '99 am I wrong in placing it with the great ones, like Charlotte '72, acknowledged as one of the major great documents in Stones performances? what is it about Charlotte that seems to draw out the fight in them?

Good God Almighty what a show. I have the Pete's Paparrazzi dvd of it, thanks to an IORR source. I was there and so I am really partial. Has anyone else seen the dvd of this show? I write this as an appreciation for: the Stones of course, they come to Charlotte a city where nobody gave 2 shits about them when they first played here in '65, and proceed to do some of the most tal

thats how old I was when I heard 'The Last Time'. that did it for me. Then I remember 'Paint It, Black' and feeling the same way... now I'm 52 and have a 9 year old son. He is not yet a Stones fan, he's more interested in old fiddle tunes, and Steve Earle! good stuff. He does like the song 'Breathe On Me', however..so thats a start. I know this

had more than a drink. alcoholism is pretty deadly, unless you're Keith Richards I hope friends and family pull him through. like Keith said, "if anythings kept us from blowing our loudspeakers, it's probably each other"...

many references to wine in Stones' lyrics. The most intriguing to me is in 'Sweet Virginia'...the reference to California wine; interesting because in America at that time, hardly anyone cared much about wine, certainly not like now. And the wines of California were mostly unknown until the famous blind tasting in 1976 with the great French wines, at which the California wines w

thanks for the clarification, with sssoul, Tumblin_Dice, et Amused I mistakenly told some friends I thought it was recorded at MS. I will set the record straight. what a great tune. interesting that they decided to play it live after all these years. also interesting (to me anyway) is that KR was either: not at the session; or realised Jagger had the rhythm guitar part that best suited t

I'm thinking Sway was recorded in Alabama at Muscle Shoals? Got to discussing (and playing) the song. I read that Keith allowed as to how he didn't play on it and had to learn it for the shows in '06-07. Was it recorded at Muscle Shoals? If so I wonder why he didn't play on it.. most people I talk with, even Stones fans, think Keith played on it and are surprised that he

Hey yall I'm in Charlotte NC, since '82. Greensboro before that. Texas born, but moved frequently (Air Force family). I like to think the Stones have a high regard for the American South. Even if folks were pretty damn rude to them here in Charlotte the first time they were here. The first Stones show I saw was Greensboro '75. I missed Charlotte '72, but have the s
