Hi in the middle of the song Keith says something like "Jimmy Bridges" than at the end something like "Van Halen Van Halen." I know those are both wrong but anyone know what he says?
Also the background person is saying "irie" right? Thanks. Forum: Tell Me
He was just trying not to look like a retrograde hippie on that tour. Let's be honest, if they had not basically laid down a hot show on that tour most of us would not be hanging around this site.
Both Empire Burlesque and Infidels are better than Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery tour and other such pop drivel. Forum: Tell Me
Tony Sanchez book has some discussion of it. I read somewhere that what woke Mick up was when Elvis died in 77. That sounds about right. Forum: Tell Me
I grew up in Detroit where every self-respecting rocker carried a "DREAD" card. "Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco." Some bagged on the Stones for it but the songs sold well and got a lot of airplay and the whole thing died out in a year or two. Go to YouTube and check out "Anti-disco night at Comiskey Park Steve Dahl" for a taste of the era. Forum: Tell Me
I think CH by a hair, in part because it doesn't have any crap songs like Neocon, or Sweethearts together. If I had a friend that didn't know latter period Stones, and I wanted to prove they still have it, I would give him CH. Forum: Tell Me
I loved watching it. Liked Keith's understated playing and Charlie air drumming shows they don't take themselves too seriously. Coolest part of the show (sorry Melinda Gates). Forum: Tell Me
It shows them tightening up from the sloppy play of some prior tours. Pretty lively versions of some fun songs, including Little Red Rooster with Clapton. Wish Gimme Shelter would have been on it. Hard to say you hate this album and love other live albums unless you are filtering it highly subjectively based on your own life. It rips. Forum: Tell Me
