Exile is my favorite studio album. Play it more than any other. It has a relaxed feeling, makes you relaxed and happy listening to it.

Perhaps they are both super groups, vincentwhirlwind! Joss Stone, one of the members of Mick's group, is fantastic:

A great Gimme Shelter with the Winos from Boston 1993 - love it, especially towards the end (999 is also on the video) (at first I linked to video not as good as this one): Just found it, this Gimme Shelter from Cologne, Germany, 1992, is also great (notice Bobby Keys):

QuoteTropicalDisease75 Awesome! Thanks for posting this. Fantastic pics Ringo. At 8:25, Keith looks super fired up to be talking to Bianca. Wow, put a caption on that one! TD75 Thanks, TropicalDisease75! Keith's actually talking to the German model and actress Uschi Obermaier. From Wikipedia: "Rainer Langhans mentions in his autobiography that he and Obermaier (...) in lat

I love this version from Los Angeles, July 13, 1975 - can't stop playing it, it's a wonderful rhythm orgy, so I uploaded it on Youtube:

Yes, I like this version very much, both Daltrey, the guitars and the orchestra! Here's a live version by The Faces in 1971 (Rod Stewart had an even better version on what I think was his debut album):

People who don't like Hold Back, simply haven't understood it, just like there is lots of music I can't appreciate because I don't understand what it gives (perhaps that's a general rule - if you don't like a song that someone else likes, that other person simply has understood it, you haven't). I've always loved the song, considered it to be one of th

I care about their legacy. Or, to put it another way, I don't care so much about what non-fans think about them, in the same way it's not so interesting what I think about Boney M. But I care about what Stones fans think about them. And I think we should think about them as a band that is generally underrated. An important reason for this, I think, is that the best Stones music

I've shortened my post, to stay under the 100 word limit: One of my first memories of The Stones, was seeing my brother, around 1975, banging his hand towards the speaker to the rhythm of the Ya-Ya's Jumpin' Jack Flash. I still remember me and a friend looking at the cover of Beggars Banquet, the shared feeling that this was "it". Especially the Europe 1973 boot

One of my first memories of The Stones, was seeing my brother, around 1975, banging his hand towards the speaker to the rhythm of the Ya-Ya's Jumpin' Jack Flash. I had a friend who at that time also was a fan, I still remember us looking at the cover of Beggars Banquet, the shared feeling that this was "it". Later we bought bootlegs. Especially Nasty Songs, or Bedspring S

Well said, NedKelly! If you've been to Mount Everest (or made Exile), there's no way up, only down. But there are lots of other high mountains you can go to!

Quotewordnat I'm sure this has been asked before, but..... is "Nasty Music" Brussels '73? thanks! As far as I remember, these two bootlegs have pretty much the same versions (but these same versions may still sound a little different on the two records). But All Down the Line on Nasty Music is from New York 72, if my memory is correct.

A great favourite of mine. As far as I remember, it was credited Jagger/Richards on "got LIVE if you want it!", but it's really written by Bo Diddley.

Quotephd I was there. At the concert for the French Audience. Even if it was a long time ago and even if I was quite young ( 17), they did sound real great. The best line-up : for sure. I never heard such sharp and groovy notes from Keith except some JJF or TD at Wembley . And what to say from his team with MickT....Heaven on earth. You WERE at the first Oct. 17 show in Brussels in 1973? That

For a long time, this has been my favourite Bitch version (I guess it's from Sydney, February 26, 1973): Now I've discovered that the Sydney February 27-version is also great: Do you know of any other great Bitch versions?
