QuoteROLLINGSTONE The beauty of Tattoo You is mainly down to Bob Clearmountain's mixing. If the mixing is responsible for that album's great sound, then it's worth looking at who was behind the mixing for other Stones albums, given the variation in how they sound. I went to AllMusic.com and found the following. BB, LIB, Sticky, Exile - no "mixing" credit GHS - Andy

QuoteHairball When I think of 'Classic Rock', this is one of the first tunes I would think of. Great tune from start to finish, and it's been embedded in my brain since first hearing it on the radio as a seven year old when it was first released. You can turn on any classic rock radio station right now, and can almost guarantee you will hear it at some point during any given day

QuoteGasLightStreet That's why I said that I've always thought SOME GIRLS sounds the worst. It's too brittle, to tinny, too high end sounding. In contrast, EMOTIONAL RESCUE sounds incredible - it has some ass to it. Well put! +1 Drew

Interesting quote from the LA Times, not sure if this has been posted already. Jimmy was an extremely talented man. His main gift I think was his ability to get grooves. Which for a band like the Stones is very important. Look at the difference between ‘Beggar’s Banquet’ and ‘Satanic Majesties.’ He put them right back on the rail. So he was quote influential then and came up with all sorts of

Interesting mix of opinions. Seems like "Joy" isn't the most popular. Agree on "Blue" - an excellent track! Drew

In my opinion, Keith was right -- Goddess in the Doorway is basically a (dog)shit album. But there's one track that shines, I think -- "Joy". It starts out strong and then just gets STRONGER as it progresses, until it gives this listener the ecstasy that its title promises. Very, very good song. Even through the dreck of an album like GITD, Mick's musical genius shines

I am so deeply saddened by this news. What an incredible talent. A true genius. I only discovered him later in my life, and I regret that his music was almost never played on my local radio stations. A towering giant in the history of rock and roll, whose influence cannot be overstated. RIP Richard. Drew

Thanks for the input/tips everyone. I love loud music, but my ears do not. So I'm wondering if the pit is going to be louder than the rest of the venue. Drew

Quotelem motlow It’s a great song, they knocked it out of the park. But it’s been equaled and surpassed many times. Agree with your comments Lem except for the "surpassed" part. Perfection cannot be surpassed. Drew

How the Beatles Wrote ‘A Day in the Life’ More than 50 years after its release, the sprawling closing track on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band remains a testament to the group’s ambitious songwriting. The Atlantic | Nicholas Dawidoff It’s received wisdom that Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which arrived in the long record-breaking summer heat of 1967, is one of rock’s gre

More insight into the film (and Mick's lifestyle) at “Before we started shooting Mick said to me, ‘Bill, I haven’t been awake before noon in 50 years.’ So we negotiated and struck a deal that he’d be on set at 10 a.m. each morning we were shooting,” Horberg said. “And sure enough, at 9:55 a.m. each morning he’d be on a boat crossing Lake Como, arriving at 9:59 exactly. It was great worki

From an interesting review in the New Yorker Cassidy is played by none other than Mick Jagger, who has graced our feature films all too rarely since he played the reclusive rock star of “Performance” (1970), delivering “Memo from Turner” in a crowing drawl, among half-naked gangsters, with Ry Cooder on slide guitar. If Jagger’s character hadn’t been shot at the end of that movie, you could im
