I have just bought the Beatles Mono Vinyl Box Set and it sounds incredible. I would love to get the Stones vinyl box sets but they are incredibly expensive and I am not sure that they are worth it. Has anyone bought these and if so, how do they sound? I know the second box set of post-71 albums are the 2009 remasters, but what about the early albums?

These "mistakes" are minor and brief and do not detract at all from the energy of the show or the great live performances. It proves that we are watching a real band of musicians playing with soul and passion, and I also love the way that, when these things happen the rest of the band are supportive and have a bit of a laugh.

Twickenham 2006 - Keith comes out to strike the opening chords of JJF and no sound comes out of his guitar.... He tries a few more times and.... Nothing.....then Pierre runs out and turns up the volume knob on Keith's guitar.

Mick's been spending this Christmas in Richmond this year. I walked past Jerry's place on Boxing Day on my way to Richmond Park, hoping to catch sight of him but not luck. His big Mercedes was parked in the driveway though....

I agree - awesome sound on the 14 on Fire tour and Keith's guitar in particular sounded great. I just loved how high it was in the mix - loud and crunchy and heavy, just awesome. I can get a similar sound playing my tele through my Lazy J amp.....

Quotebmuseed Hi John Lomax-My book includes the 1965 US tour, 1966 US tour, 1969 US tour, Altamont, 1970 Euro tour and Gimme Shelter, as well as my time with the Beatles, Sam Cooke, and many others. Besides the personalities, it deals specifically with the business of the '69 tour, 1970 Euro Tour and the producing of Gimme Shelter! Quotejohn lomax Hey Ron - really looking forward to you

Hey Ron - really looking forward to your book about the 1969 tour. Stanley Booh's book has long been one of my favourites, but I really loved the different perspective in Sam Cutler's book - so I think yours will be fantastic. Will you be including anything about the business/logistical side of arranging the tour - I find the whole economics of rock tours really interesting and particul

Great thread! I would also like to see some more shots of the 1969 stage (eg from the audience's perspective) and it would also be good to see the 1972 outdoor stage at RFK and also some shots of the 1973 Australian tour stage. And perhaps also some outdoor stage shots from 75,76 and 78.

Got my Lp and DVD yesterday. I enjoyed it bit I must say Jagger ruins it for me - dreadful singing. I think overall it re-confirms that 1975 is by far my least favourite tour. Was Europe 76 any better? I am not sure.

QuoteNaturalust This is one of those pictures that begs for a caption contest... peace "Due to Mick Jagger's ongoing throat problems, Keith Richards took over lead vocal and dancing duties last night in Brisbane. Here he tries out the trademark Jagger strut and falsetto on "Emotional Rescue".

I think these current shows are fantastic. I have seen every tour since voodoo lounge and I think the Europe and Aus shows are brilliant - just a very positive energy in the game and they sound great - whereas on the Licks and Bigger Bang tours there were often nights when Ronnie or Keith were having an off night and it just seemed like they were going through the motions. But now it is as if th

Brown Sugar - studio version. Listen to the way the piano builds on intensity in each chorus..... And Happy from live in Texas 78 - love the way Stu is high in the mix so we can hear his genius.

What did they sound like live in 1969? Was it loud? Was the sound clear? If you were towards the back could you still hear? From the audience bootlegs that I have heard the guitars were very loud - even overpowering Charlie's drums - and the vocals were hard to hear.

I have a Lauren Bacall story..... In 2005 I was on a flight from Toronto to New York. I had been visiting friends in Toronto, and was heading to New York to see the Stones at MSG and Giants Stadium. At that time, the Toronto film festival was on and so the place was filled with actors and movie types (in fact, while in Toronto I went to the premiere of the Brian Jones biopic "Stoned&qu

I think this is hilarious!!! I love the intro and all Mick's ridiculous faces - he really does look like a parody of himslef here!! Very very funny. It really shows how muh he improved once he got back on the road with the Stones - this 1988 Jagger seems a lot like the one we saw in 81/82.....but by 1989 he'd sharpened up his act quite a bit.....and today he is back to bein a serious

I loved it. I saw two shows - Lisbon and Paris -and both shows were fantastic. Unfortunately work commitments meant that I could not get to more shows. My dream was to spend a week or so travelling around Europe seeing Stones shows but it wasn't to be. Still, I have been very lucky - I saw both O2 shows and both Hyde Park shows. So I've seen 6 shows in the last 18 months which I really

I thought Streets of Love was awesome live on the ABB tour and I would have loved to have been there in Rome to hear it with MT. People should stop being so negative - I think it is great that the Stones are still mixing up the aeist and trying different things, and it's great that MT is playing with them, regardless of what song it is. Really loving the 14 On Fire tour and I hope we get a l

Wow, I love this Berlin poster. I hope the Paris ones are good - I am only going to two shows on this tour (Lisbon and Paris) and I want a poster from each show, which I will get properly framed and will hang them side by side in my living room - a great way to remember to the tour and some cool artwork for my house (not sure if my wife agrees )

I like the Lisbon tram too. I want to get that one and one of the Paris ones (hopefully they will be good) so that I have a poster from each of the shows I am attending. Love the Oslo ones and actually quite like the Tel Aviv one.

Can also just say that I saw the Lisbon gig and the entire band was on fire.Keith is playing great and he is happy. What more can we ask for. In Lisbon, two great moments stick out in my mind. The first one was during Keith's solo in IORR. He played a great riff, which sounded great so he repeated it - and it sounded brilliant and Keith's face lit up with a huge smile as if to say &q

Mick T is now going by his blues name - "Blind Sugar". And the Scarf is now calling himself "Scarfin' Orange Peel". Did anyone notice that the Scarf made a very brief guest appearance on the Scarf Me Up intro.....
