Who wouldn't want to see Keith and Ronnie trying to play guitar whilst ice skating?

QuoteOlly QuotePete66 Yeah, the Stones played Sure the one you need twice on the '75 tour. Pete. Indeed, I stand corrected, I see that myself now that I do a little research. It had never perviously occurred to me that they had played this. Yes, it was played at Arrowhead Stadium in KC I think. I have the bootleg.

Thats right, the Stones on Ice. 16 shows in 2016, all performed on ice in indoor hockey arenas.

I'd love to hear all the original MSG 69 performances - is there somewhere they are available online (eg you tube)??

There is no extra open-g rhythym guitar in this section. Well, this (and former post) doesn't surprise me, but it seems as if everyone believes everything Matthijs states, even though he doesn't mention any sou

I am listening to it right now. in Carol I think Taylirs parts are still played by Taylor (ie I don't think it's Keith iverdubbing rhythym). This is because the particular sound and style of that rhythm playing is definitely Taylor. In astray Cat the bit that Mathjis says is open tuning is not - it is standard tuning. It may be overdubbed, but td definitely standard tuning. Sounds go

I reckon they will still do it. They denied Glastonbury up until the last minute. They are on tour this year, they are oiled and ready to go, why wouldn't they do it?? And perhaps more to the point, why would they do it next year when they have nothing else happening. I don't see them doing a one-off so if it's going to happen it will be this year.

Yeah, I agree with you, I can't see what the fuss is about. Fairly mediocre and boring songs. I mean, it's great that they are actually a real band playing real instruments but I can confidently predict that none of their songs will stand the test of time or be remembered by anyone in 10 years time.

Although I would add that Ronnie's playing in 1975 was much better than it is today... So maybe I'd prefer the 75 Ronnie with the 2015 Mick, Keith and Charlie.... Really don't like Billy Preston and Ollie Brown either...I like them as performers individually and on selected songs but don't like them on stage the entire time and it is ridiculous that Billy even had his own s

I am watching the 1975 LA Forum and is is appallingly bad. I really cannot understand people who say the Stons today are rubbish and they were so much better in the 70s. They certainly were not better in 75 - this gig is dreadful. Sloppy playing, terrible singing, dull lifeless performances.... It actually looks like a bad version of the Rolling Stoned (a Stones cover band here in the UK). I woul

The problem Keith has with the Brown Sugar intro is when he tried to play it like the studio version. From 1971 to 1982'he played it slightly differently (with an extra up-stroke) and it always worked. Perhaps he should go back to that approach...

Interesting. My box was numbered 06762 (so only 10 before Axel 1's) but mine has the correct label. So the error would not appear to be sequential.....maybe it's a one-off in which case Axel1 has a true collectors' item.

This is great, thanks. I would love to hear all of these different MSG versions. I was amazed when I heard the Boston version because the music is so close to the Ya Yas version.

I just listened a boot of Boston 69. The JJF version sounds identical to the Ya Yas version whereas none of the MSG versions I have heard actually sound like the Ya Yas version. I wonder if it was the Boston version that Mick overdubbed vocals onto for Ya Yas. Have a listen and tell me what you think!

I booked a room in Stevenage as well. But would love a show in Twickenham as I could walk home from there. My dream would be a club show at the Richmond Athletic Ground (where my little boy plays rugby!)

I think the 2007 shows improved massively as soon as Keith shaved off that stupid moustache. I think for some reason that moustache was holding him back!! Who will ever forget some of those dreadful versions of Moustache Me Up!! In 2013 the Scarf took over the Moustache's role.....

I agree with Nate. I love the "carnival" atmosphere of the stadium shows and provided the weather is good they can actually be my favourite way to see the Stones. Except in a small club of course!! Speaking of small clubs, it is 12 years ago today that I saw them at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. With Midnight Rambler as the opening song - wow, what an experience!!
