drewmaster! I think Keith, after the battles that took place over Bridges to Babylon sessions, decided to go along to get along. 7 years without a CD.Same as the 8 year drought without a tour '83-'88. Mick seems to be able to hold out longer. Since they started back touring in '89, the band has taken the look and sound of Mick's '88 solo tour. I Keith compromises to keep

Elmo, I agree with you about playing ABB. I never seem to listen to it, not like their past CDs. It's a great CD but, I wish it had a gritter sound. Who knows, in time I may consider it a classic along with their best.

Clapton in '74. He even sat down with his back against the piano legs. His 2nd guitar player George Terry played 99% of the leads. The best thing about the show was the encore. Pete Townshend and a very drunk/stoned Keith Moon came on. Townshend was feeling no pain but, stoled the show with his trademark windmills and duckwalks, Moon was so Fooked up that roadies had to prop him up on the dr

Chas! Of course, guitars riffs, thats what missing on ABB. Keith has not,IMO, produced on the level of VL. ABB is a great record. Just as I mention before, wish the Keith Riffhard would come back. I think that as a fan of the group since the mid '60s, I've come to expect the same level/standard that I feel Keith is capable of. Keith is not the Keith of old. None of us are. We change as w

Yes, Keith did write a good amount of VL: LS YGMR SWF TW T&T NF SHT BBID plus, tracks like: Anything for you You got it made Make it now At times I've wonder if Mick and Keith have an agreement about taking turns with who's in "charge" during recording, much like taking turns who comes on stage first. '89 they came on together '94/'95 Mick f

I like ABB. My favorite CD from last year. Mick not only wrote 80% of SG, he also did what, 90% of GHS? 8o% of SW? My point is that Mick is the driving force behind the Stones. Just wish Keith would remember his gift as the riff master. Of course, with his back catalog who can complain? Keith has other priorties in his life. As he once mention about Ronnie's stint in rehab before the 40 lick

Yes, Mick would have different musicians, but Mick also plays more on ABB that normal. He also played drums before Charlie showed up. Ronnie was absent for most of the initial sessions. I don't think it would have been that much different IMO, from what was released. Of course, we will never know. Just hope the next time around Keith takes the lead........

I saw my first concert in 1969. A group called the Rolling Stones. Yes, '69 was a great year. Two of the all-time greatest LPs came out "Let it bleed" and "Abbey road". As stones_serb mention "In the Court of the Crimson King". I have all but forgotten that masterpiece. I still have it on vinyl. A trip down memory lane..........

IMO, ABB is Mick's. Keith did not offer much to this endeavor. I know this topic has been picked to death, but what would have been our reaction to ABB as Mick's latest CD? Minus RJ,TPIE and Infamy. Under the radar and We don't wanna go home could have replaced them. Would this have been Mick's masterpiece? Just speculating. I like ABB. Just wish Keith Riffhard had woke up fr

W/S is Mick's best. Combine it with Keith's "Talk is Cheap"and you will have the best Stones Cd we never got.

We went to a friend's house tonight in W/R who had a live band. They were once members of the group Doc Holliday. They played R&R! Great to hear someone play songs like 'Magic carpet ride" and "Sweet Melissa." Had a good time, nearly froze!

Baboon Bro! I visited Memphis last year, to see the Stones. The day before the concert we stopped to visit Graceland. Very surreal. The visit rekindled my interest in Elvis. Recently read two great books on him: 1)Last Train to Memphis 2)Careless Love both by Peter Guralnick. Two of the better books out there. I strongly recommend them. By the way, I will get what we talked about in the mail

No Expectations has always been one of my all time favorites. Saw them do it in Atanta on the '97 tour. It was the song voted for them to play via the web. Recently hear the boot of this show (thanks, Elmo), great version!

Let's not forget Bobby Womack touring with the Faces on their last tour, Fall of 1975. Not sure if he appeared at evert show, but he came on-stage with them in Atlanta and played guitar and sang back-up. Jesse Ed Davis (RIP) was also with the Faces on that last tour. john r, you mentioned the DW outtakes, love the song "Strickly Memphis." It should have been on DW.
