I have this. The sound is excellent. However, with the exception of the B-Stage songs (Route 66, When the Whip Comes Down, and Midnight Rambler) Keith is so low in the mix that some songs are almost unrecognizable, i.e. any song that starts with a KR riff - SMU, HTW, IORR, JJF, etc. Anyone know why this is?

Too Tight. If only for the line "I've seen it all a thousand times, I sung that song I wrote that f***in' book." I love that line...it says it all.

Could Gimme Shelter be the perfect rock song? Or Thunder Road?

Rev - Excellent post. I think we're on a more harmonious level. I agree with virturally everything you're saying. I've seen two shows this tour (Giants and Philly). Yes there were some spotty moments...why Ronnie can't deliver the lead to Tumbling Dice I'll never know. But for the most part, I was blown away by the sound and energy the band put forth. I've actually g

Rev - Chill out dude. You're in danger of crossing the line between attacking the issue and attacking the poster personally. I'm not a "tough guy". I made the incorrect assumption that you had NOT seen a US ABB show and for that I apologize. Perhaps you could consider doing same. Also in no way was I attempting to challenge your pedigree as a Stones fan, which is impressive. B

Buddy Holly would have been as big, if not bigger, than Elvis Presley. This is no knock on the King, because he may have been born with more natural charisma (except maybe Frank Sinatra) than any other 20th century entertainer. But Buddy Holly had an advantage over Elvis in that he was a singer/songwriter. It would have been very interesting to have seen those two careers blossom together.

The description for Tumbling Dice leads one to believe that Chuck starts the song on piano and after two verses the band kicks in. Anyone with ears can tell that the two parts are spliced together.

Not sure if this has been posted but: despite the official release of Rarities being 11/22 in the States, I picked up a copy at Starbucks this morning. I live in New Jersey, US.

I think that the reason that IORR and GHS don't get the respect they deserve is the timing of their release. They were doomed by the fact that they followed 4 masterpieces. In my opinion, these two releases are solid efforts that have stood the test of time.
