Well written, Beelyboy! Totally agree. He is one of the GENUINE roots of the music we all love. His influence on the Stones and many others is clear and huge. Who cares about his private life? He is 76 and is in incredible form, the London show was stunning, the blues solos were fantastic, and if was a lot of fun. It is difficult to imagine that he might have been even better in the past. "Crazy mama" by JJ Cale (he actually did not play the slide himself) - the best slide I have ever heard.

I saw him about 6 times in total since 1990. In general, he is going downhill . I saw him last in Oxford in 2005, and it was a very painful and sad experience. He was forgetting the songs and licks and was really unable to play for more than about 10 seconds without major mistakes. At the end, I found myself praying for him to stop and to avoid further humiliation. Very embarrasing. My friends

Stones are black music and U2 is white music. The choice is yours.

If only Clapton would not spoil the joy of listening to JJ... not sure if JJ really needed this.

Over the last 16 years, when I could see them live, Keith has been gradually going down. It is not his hands. It is his brain. I hope I am wrong but I suspect that it will get worse, potentially much worse, in not too distant future. Another reason to see the Stones now.

In a recent interview on Virgin Radio (end of August), Keith seemed to be saying that they would like to come to europe next spring/summer. Are there any roumours about it?

I taped it (old fashionedly). Reasonable sound but too many mistakes by the band, similarly to the show I saw in munich. Much more sloppy than only a few years ago. Worrying trend...

Absolutely agree with Dandelion. Clapton was a wonderful guitar player 35 years ago. Now he plays a pop music with no balls. Even when it comes to blues, there is no question. Taylor, on a good day, is a magic bluesman.

I saw them in London few weeks ago. Good but not great, and lousy sound. No way to call them "the second best band".
