No fists, a lot of laugh, very entertaining, surprisingly.

Good memories.

I was at the

"Ike & Tina Turner Revue"

concert in 1972 in Frankfurt (GER).

Tina was 5 m in front of me. I was looking the whole concert to her wonderful legs and to the 3 female backgrond singers "Ikettes".
Tina was singin "I want to take you higher" and boys like me (19 years) were very pleased..
Yes, she was hot !

Ike was standing in the background like a general in the army. But his playing was very good. Great "Soul and Funk and Blues" music on this evening.

Despite being a bit of a mofo, Ike is a great musician. It's a shame that his personal antics have tarnished just how good he was and maybe still is!

I come back from the show.

Fair first set, second set much better.

Really grooving at the end.

He has a new female-partner in crime, "I have been loving you too long", "suck it".

totally agree...great musician; incredible early history as a sideman & field A&R guy for some of the best known and most seminal blues artists...one of the very first to break color lines...visionary stage and band leader and producer...that's his outfit on 'rocket 88' (sung by sax player jackie brenston), arguably the "first rock and roll record" (acc. to sam phillips and others)...as a producer the earliest sides with tina (which she bitched endlessly about) are among the finest and hottest r&b ever cut by anyone...that entire revue was his vision, and apparently still is...mick had an interest, relationship and even some fascination with him years prior to the '69 warmup spot...go ike! so glad to hear he's playing to interested crowds...much too much of an honestly important historic figure to be tabloided out in everyone's cultural memories imo....amazing he's still out there doin' it...i like ike.

Well written, Beelyboy! Totally agree. He is one of the GENUINE roots of the music we all love. His influence on the Stones and many others is clear and huge. Who cares about his private life?

He is 76 and is in incredible form, the London show was stunning, the blues solos were fantastic, and if was a lot of fun. It is difficult to imagine that he might have been even better in the past. I am glad that I managed to see him at his best.

I saw Ike Turner last year here in Tenerife, and for my was incredible, a mega star artist and such a musicia and so influinciated man at the music, but I have to say, he looks like younger, but his music now is s little bit poor.
I had the opportunnity to record a video from that moment, hope you like it, at Santa Cruz Blues 2006,
enjoy it,
Carlos

Carlos,
thanks for the video. Interestingly, it seems like completely different band...
