Quotestonesman87 On another matter, I've found that Ringo's Third All-Starr Band 1995 Tokyo concert has only recently been posted at . It omits Randy Bachman's You Ain't Seen ... and TCOB, John Entwistle's My Wife, and Mark Farner's Some Kind of Wonderful. I've searched for these four tracks without luck. Can anybody come up with the videos for them from th

I'm listening to BBC recordings by the 2nd best group ever to come out of Liverpool, including this great cover of a Jagger-Richards song:

It beats me why people even discuss The Beatles in the same sentence as The Rolling Stones. Yes, by all means compare The Pretty Things, The Who and (at a push) Led Zeppelin to The Rolling Stones, but not a Pop group like The Beatles! I say this as a big Beatles fan, just like I'm a big fan of The Hollies, The Dave Clark Five, The Tremeloes and Gerry and The Pacemakers... ALL legendary Po

QuoteZotz K.C. Jones - 'Under my Thumb' video: Was this actually released (vinyl, CD, download, streaming, etc)? I didn't include covers that were solely performed online or in concert. Additionally, I don't find it that great... so it would never have made the book, even if it was properly released.

QuoteElmo Lewis The lyrics reflect a different time - before everyone became so "enlightened" and easily offended. It's only rock and roll. I'm neither enlightened or offended... Great music is timeless, and (to my ears) never needs to be changed, explained or banished.

QuoteVoodooLounge13I've never been a fan of most of their live albums released before they started the whole From The Vault series. Flashpoint and Stripped were the two I listened to the most. I loved the concept of No Security, but it's kind of like a live rarities album vs. an actual concert. I think it would have gone over better if they'd put those songs within the context o

QuoteGasLightStreet The beauty of the GET YER YA-YA'S OUT! Chuck Berry versions is their sludge. They hump along. It's not all up, it's a good drag, a good bit draggy. A bit sleazy. The songs have hips, flow, not all rigid and tight. They're classics in their own right. It seemed fashionable to perform rock 'n' roll songs this way at the tail end of the '60s/s

QuoteHairball I think the Ya Ya's live version is quite sluggish and sloppy. Not too bad, but I'll take the Chuck original any day. I've always thought that the two Berry songs from Ya Ya's are the weakest things on there (Rock without the Roll!). My favourite version of 'Carol' is from Paris 1965, see below at around 8:49...

It's interesting to hear alternative version though. Interesting missed typo there. On 2nd May they can't have mimed to a version not recorded until 10th May. :-) Shindig was on 20th May 1965

It's interesting to hear alternative version though. I think it's actually part-live: live vocal, pre-recorded backing track. I agree it's interesting to hear though (presumably a full studio version still exists

I saw and met The Specials in 2009, when the 6-part reunion line-up (no Jerry Dammers) came to a theatre where I worked as a doorman. The band mostly came and left separately, and it was clear that there were still bad feelings amongst some of them, with only Horace Panter & John Bradbury hanging out together. A fine show though, despite the non-inclusion of 'Ghost Town' (Horace com

Quotegotdablouse How about an "Americana" version, they did a pretty good one for McCartney/Beatles/Wings. "Yellow Submarine" has some cool fiddle playing. Can you define the difference between "Americana" and "Alt Country"? I can't. Certainly Wikipedia considers them to be much the same thing.

QuoteLeonidP Correct, Jimmy Rip! Never heard of him before that show, but I was so impressed that I looked him up after it. I even bought his solo album a couple years later, and if I remember correctly, Mick appears on a track or two, perhaps backup vox or maybe harp, I'll have to dig that up. As well as a fine guitarist, he is a brilliant Producer (he was responsible for Jerry Lee Lewis

Quoteretired_dog QuoteDoxa Quotejohnh "Have you seen..... " is a great tune but that 80s Jagger band is awful. Disagree. I think it is an alright creative 80's style re-interptetation, not like a typical nostalgic 'I hope this is enough close to the original that your grandmama recognizes it and is not hurt by it'. Mick wasn't into pure nostalgia yet then. T

Why they NEVER do a proper version of this is beyond me... Paul McCartney does 'Love Me Do', despite it being a far inferior debut when compared to The Stones.
