I have a Forty Licks promo poster that I've had Mick, Keith and Ronnie sign, but I'm waiting until I have at least Charlie on it before I frame it and put it on the wall. I hope to add Bill and Mick Taylor to it as well. I missed a great chance to ask Charlie to sign it this past Monday when he went to Largo in L.A. for the Tim Ries Rolling Stones Project performance. I suspected he

Tonight was my first show of the tour and was happy to get Slipping Away. I prefer it to The Worst, but still like The Worst a lot. I will be seeing the 2 shows in L.A., so I hope The Worst gets played at one of them.

I just got back form the Anaheim show and Ronnie did not smoke at all. He was feeling cold tonight though. He indicated tot he crowd on a couple occasions that his hands were feeling very cold. This was my first show of the tour and I thought he sounded fantastic. I don't understand why he has been criticized this tour if his playing was like it was tonight.

Rio and Monterrey are both currently off the list of shows on rollingstones.com. Monterrey is understandable as we had heard already that the announced dates for Mexico were going to be changed. Is the Rio show now subject to change? Did the financing for the free show on the beach fall through and now they may replace it with Maracana or is the date being changed?

Thanks for the post Bjornulf! I always enjoy reading your views on the Stones, as your perspective is very unique versus the typical average fan and your passion for the Stones always shines through. I am seeing my first show of the tour tomorrow night and am feeling very excited about it. I have read all the negative and positive reports and know that the setlist is not as diverse as some oth

When Don Was played She Saw Me Coming on his car stereo for me and a friend outside Ocean Way studio in June, I asked him if he minded if I posted a report about it to a Stones fan site. He asked which one and I told him iorr.org. Don told me he knew of it and said go ahead, as long as it was positive. He was joking when he said that last part. So Don Was is aware of this site and for all I kn

It's a great interview with Bono. He says some great things about his admiration and friendship for the Stones. For some reason, a lot of the U2 haters on this board think Bono has said bad things about the Stones, something that could not be further from the truth, as he has always made his admiration for them well known. Keith, Mick and Ronnie have all made their admiration for U2 well kno

The evening of June 28th this year. Meeting Keith coming out of Ocean Way stduios on the final night of mixing for A Bigger Bang. Talking with him for 4-5 minutes, as he signed 4 things for me and 5 for my friend who was with me. He then posed for photos with each of us. As I walked to him, he reached out his arm and put it around me. He was extremely kind to us and was very alert and coheren

The correct amount of songs played on this tour is 41, not 44 or 42. My ritual these past couple of tours is to create a list in Excel of all songs played, arranged in chronological order from when the songs were released. I then have a column showing the first date played, then last date played, then total number of performances on the tour. It makes it real easy to always know what songs hav

Dan, I have probably seen you many times outside shows, as I live in LA and do the same methods you do. I go to so many different shows, because I usually don't have to pay more than $20 outside. I saw John Cale at Amoeba on Wednesday, so I didn't go to UCLA last night. A friend of mine did and got a $40 ticket for free. Some of the shows I have payed little for in the past few weeks

Dylan is one of the toughest autographs out there. Last year, a friend and I walked halfway down the block with Bob after the Willie Nelson tribute at the Wiltern where Keith also performed. Bob entirely ignored us as my friend, who is a huge Dylan fan, pleaded with him to sign his Travelling Wilburys album that he has on vinyl and was already signed by Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. It was as if we w

I wish they had included Rocky Road To Dublin with the Chieftans and Paying The Cost To be The Boss with BB King on Rarities, since I don't have either of these songs. It's understandable though since they were released on other labels than Virgin. I don' have Honest I Do either, so that would have been great to have on Rarities.

There was not a 3 year cycle in place. It was only a 3 year cycle for playing in North America, since they toured in 66,67,69,70,71,72,73,75,76 and 78. They could have done a European tour in 1980 for Emotional Rescue, in the way that they toured in Europe for Between The Buttons, Goats Head Soup and Black And Blue, but not in North America.

I think referring to a song by saying "it rocks" is due largely to the tempo of the song itself and how it is played. It usually is a term expressed by someone who has found a performance exciting and this usually happens during songs that have a fast tempo and heavy sound, though not neccessarily both. Take Wild Horses as an example. It's a rock n roll song by virtue of the fa

I agree fully with you Gazza. I would like to think the people on this board are not 5 year old children that have no control over their bladders. It's ridiculous that hardcore fans have to drink so much to be able to enjoy their favorite band playing and then as a result of all the drinking, they miss their favorite band to go to the bathroom. I would think anyone can have 1-2 beers

Why is a bathroom break even needed? It's only a 2 hour show. I don't even understand how people who are hardcore fans, willing to travel far distances and pay small fortunes for tickets, could even consider missing any minute of a Stones show.

I also prefer Anybody Seen My Baby over Harlem Shuffle. I think HS is possibly the worst first single from an album that the Stones have ever released.

We are now 20 shows into the A Bigger Bang tour, excluding the Toronto warm up concert, so I decided to compare the songs played on this tour to the Songs played at the same point on the Bridges tour, since it was the most recent tour behind a new studio album. Excluding the 2 warm up concerts and the short show in Port Chester, the 20th show on the Bridges tour was Los Angeles night 1. So

I just did a comparison of this tour versus Bridges for totals of songs played. Excluding the Toronto warm up concert we have had 20 regular shows this tour and and 41 different songs. If you exclude the 2 warm up concerts and the Port Chester show on the Bridges tour, the Stones had played 39 songs through regular show #20, with an additional 2 songs played at the warm up shows, Little Re

It's 41 songs so far, not 40. Sweet Virginia in Charlottesville raised it to 39, then the 2 last night brought it to 41. This tour so far is following the pattern used on the Bridges tour, which ended up with 76 songs played, including all songs played in 1999. Through 1998, they had played at least 60 songs on that tour, so I suspect they'll get to a similar amount by the end of the

I agree with everything that Dan and tomk said. The only positive thing to be said is that they remodeled the venue prior to their 2004 season and they truly made improvements with the sound. I've been to quite a few rock shows there since that time and have been both close and pretty far back and I've noticed the sound does carry better to the back than before. Whenever I go to a sh

They are up to 39 songs now, with the tour premiere of Sweet Virginia last night. I think one of the new songs that they have been playing at soundcheck will make it into the set by the second show in Philadelphia.

Seattle Kingdome, October 15, 1981. I remember how odd it was that this show started at 3pm on a weekday, with the Stones going onstage at 6pm. The whole show was over by a little after 8pm. This was the second show, added after the first one on the 14th sold out quickly. We were told the reason for the real early start time, was that they needed these extra hours for the stage and/or crew to mak
