Don't forget that the Stones owe their gratitude to George Harrison for recommending them to the Decca Records rep who turned down the Beatles. Having a personal recommendation from a Beatle in those days certainly was enough to make labels pay attention and luckily the Stones had the talent to back it up.

On first listenings, it does not seem to have the diversity that Flaming Pie or Tug Of War had. I'll be seeing the Stones and McCartney days apart, like I also did in 2002. I'll see the Stones on November 4,6 and 8 and McCartney on November 11 and 12 as well as 29 and 30. I'm looking forward to see his opening night setlist from Miami tomorrow night. I saw opening night in Oa

I'm a huge Beatles fan and got the new McCartney on Tuesday. I played it twice and it just hasn't hit me yet. I've heard all the raves, so I'm hoping with repeated listenings that I'll get more into it. It certainly didn't hit me immediately like the Stones album did.

I met Don Was and Keith outside Ocean Way Studio in June on the final night of mxing the album. I asked Don if anything on a A Bigger Bang originated in the Paris 2002 sessions and he said that none of the ABB songs are from those sessions. I then asked him if anything will come from all those songs and he told me, sounding pretty certain, something to the effect of "Oh yeah, they will come

As far as why the cd is not sold at shows, at least not yet, could be because those sales would not be reflected in the Soundscan figures and while they would have ended up selling more than 129,000 copies last week in total, the Soundscan figures would have been a little lower. Some of those people attending shows in St. Paul, Milwaukee and Chicago last week were undoubtedly included in those 12

As much as hard core fans have voiced how bad they feel Streets Of Love is, it is a song that, had it been properly worked in the US, could have appealed to casual Stones fans or more importantly to the young female demographic who is not amongst the group who bought the album last week. Those 129,000 copies were sold to hard core fans who would buy the album anyway. I don't think very m

U2 is playing their 4 shows in Toronto this week with their second night tonight. Michael Cohl had said the 2006 tour will start on January 7th, which means 1 show can be added before Montreal. If this information has not changed, then my guess is that date will be used for an arena show in Toronto, which could be announced right after the Rogers Centre show.

I just wish they switch out the well known warhorses they play at every show with other well known songs that were just as big of hits and every casual fan knows. 40 Licks sold very well so everyone should be very aware of the 36 older songs on there that were all hits. The majority of these 36 songs could be played as warhorses, instead of the usual 10 or so that they do. Why isn't Get O

I think it's a case that in the 3 largest US cities and media markets, NYC, L.A. and Chicago that the Stones play both arenas and stadiums to allow these markets to experience both productions of the show, as well as play to a larger total of people than if they only did arenas. I live in L.A. and while I like the idea of being able to see arena shows here, I would not want to miss havin

I think a lot of the reason they have not had a #1 album in the US since 1981 is based on bad timing in their release weeks. Had A Bigger Bang been released 2 weeks earlier, it would not have had the competition from Kanye West and 50 Cent and they would have had their elusive #1 album. They fell 1 notch short with Voodoo Lounge and 40 Licks both of which debuted at #2, but could have hit #1 with

Actually, U2 is playing 8 shows at MSG on their current tour. There was 1 in May and upcoming 5 straight nights in October, then a return for 2 more shows in November. They also played 2 shows in East Rutherford in May as well, so a total of 10 NYC area shows.

They certainly could have sold out 4 consecutive nights at MSG, but chose instead to play Giants Stadium on the first leg, thus giving NYC a chance to see both productions of the show. They are returning for 2 more shows at MSG in January, so for the tour they will have played 3 nights at MSG and 1 at Giants, so they will play to more people in the NYC area than McCartney in his 4 MSG shows.

This means that the New Orleans on March 11th show that briefly showed up on rollingstones.com will not happen, at least not on that date. This new show techicially is in Sunrise, a town next to Fort Lauderdale and not in Fort Lauderdale itself. I guess this means no Miami appearance between the Superbowl on February 5th and San Juan on the 11th. Also, on rs.com it now has the Inglewood, C

What is the third song on the European cd single that is not included on the UK version? As fas as the special edition of A Bigger Bang including the dvd, Billboard had reported that it will be released in November, so I wiould hold off buying an import with a different region dvd in it, even if that September release date remains correct.

I also can't figure out why anyone would find drinking enough beer to where they can't hold it for very long more important than watching every song the Stones play on stage that night, even if it is a song like You Got me Rocking. When I go to a show, my focus is entirely on the stage. The only way I will leave my seat during the performance is if I see a way to sneak up closer to the

Since I don't get to see the Stones until November so I hope Infamy stays in the set until after I see them. I've seen The Worst already, so if any of Keiths songs should be replaced, I'd choose it.

I don't recall hearing any mention of this film, but in looking in todays Los Angeles Times, there is an ad for a film called Make It Funky! and Keith is one of the performers featured in it, with the ad including a photo of him along with some of the other musicians. Today is the opening day at 1 cinema. It's the film of when Keith played in New Orleans in late April last year. This

Unfortunately that could be true, but so far including the Toronto rehearsal concert, there are 8 songs played that I've never seen. The 4 new songs, Ain't Too Proud and the 3 covers, so I think I will make it to 100.

I would love that, as I would get 16 songs I have never heard live before versus the 4-5 I will otherwise get. I'm currently at a total of 95 different songs that I've seen the Stones play live, so I always want to just keep adding to that total.

When I met Keith and Don Was outside Ocean Way studio in June and Don played She Saw Me Coming on his car stereo for me and a friend, I asked him if he minded that I report on it to a Stones fan site. He asked which one and when I told him IORR, he was very aware of the site. If Don was knows about this site, then I'm sure at some point during downtime in recording, he and Mick and the other

Who is they? I was never under the impression that it was a show entirely of Stones performances. Here in L.A., they have been advertising for a couple weeks about the free performances in the L.A. Memorial Coliseum by Kanye West, Good Charlotte and others that are being used in the special.
