I actually went solo to the Washington DC show on the 50 and counting tour. It was certainly a unique experience. In the past I'd always gone with gilfriends /wife. I'd been wanting to go ever sice the tour was announced but the ticket prices were frankly ridiculous. I'd seen the Stones 4 times before but always outdoors. Four days prior to the show I scored a ticket for the si

Kohoutek, Thanks for the information - it's good to get information from someone with actual experience. From what I understand tail-gating is tolerated/encouraged at Carter Finley too. . . I'll probably take my truck.

What are the stadium parking arrangements? I looked at the stadium website and the close-in parking appears to be tied to football season tickets. What are the normal parking charges for non-football events ? I'm staying at the Doubletree Brownstone which is on the downtown side of the NC State campus. Is it walkable ?

I saw Dave Matthews in the early 90's too - in a club in Richmond VA. He couldn't carry a tune in a bucket then either. . .

A few more: Went to a Thin Lizzy show (Late '70s) support act was some American dude in a pink sport coat, name of Johnny Cougar... Don't think he got to finish his set! Girl I was dating back in the day was into a singer called Judy Tzuke (beautiful voice) support act was a ska act called Graduate - they showed up a year or two later as Tears for Fears. Not sur if this one counts,

UB40: Saw them at college when they were supporting the Pretenders. At the time the Pretenders had No.1 records both sides of the Atlantic (Brass in pocket). UB40 blew them away. Saw Def Leppard on a double bill with Iron Maiden at Newcastle Mayfair(2 quid to get in, if I remeber correctly) : Def Leppard had just released their own label first EP, Iron Maiden still had their original singer P

Quoterollmops When was the last time they did a show without Keith singing 2 songs? It seems like the Fonda theater concert was an amazing show. Rock and roll, Mops The last stadium show that I was at: Scott Stadium in Charlottesville VA during the bigger bang tour. Some bozo called in a bomb threat and the stage was evacuated while security went through the motions of checking out the stad

Quotedcba QuoteTurner68 that clip is essentially a promo for the rest of the tour, so showing the celebrities tries to send the message that the band is hot, they are a hot ticket, you should go out and get your ticket and you can see the stones just like jack nicholson. it's just marketing. same reason they put models in the front row. i don't like it either, but i understand why the

I bought the Grrr Super deluxe box when it was remaindered for $40. For what I bought it for it is good value; the book appears to be the exhibition catalogue from the MOMA exhibit. There are lots of cool pictures but almost as many blank pages which could've been filled with some minimal accompanying text. I already had 99% of the tracks on various other formats: Vinyl, CD, albums and co

It looks like the promoters are blinking: Sections 5 and 20 now have a lot of $168 tickets available for seats that were previously $272.

A great loss for music. Saw him back in '98 or '99 from the front row, wonderful showman. I was real impressed that he cared enough to tour with his own large band. He was a true King of the Blues, he did it the only way he knew how. Funnily enough a few years later, I was dating a nurse who treated him, for diabetic complications, while he was in town; he'd been rushed into the

Steven Wilson on the 26th May. Saw him a couple of times with Porcupine Tree - Great band. I wish Guthrie Govan was still in his band, but I'm sure he's been replaced by a great guitar player.

It would have to be Keith, he shares my contempt of all things cheesy. I once ordered a pizza with no cheese but everything fell off the crust ! Also we both have 2 daughters and I think I could learn quite a lot from him on the subject of late-in-life fatherhood. I cook a pretty mean shepherds pie and I could see us killing a bottle of bourbon into the wee hours.

I went in to my local BestBuy at lunch time - first time in a long time. I eventually found the single on the top of the new release stand - I didn't see any Stones CDs at all in the (rather small) main CD section. I paid $11.99 + tax for it - the T shirt appears to be pretty good quality and it is definitely XL. The print looks good - I like it. I haven't had a SF shirt for ages: I

I saw him a couple of weeks ago in Richmond VA. He never picked up a guitar all night. Played half of the set on piano and the rest standing at the mike and blowing harp. First couple of songs, his voice was a bit hit or miss; after that his singing was as good as I've heard it. From what I can gather he hasn't changed the the set for quite a while.

Two entire half sections just opened up for Raleigh. Well, they just dropped the upper halfnumbers of section 5 the lower half numbers of section 20. All tickets for $250 - including front rows ! These are lower level bleachers and had been held back until today. I originally bought row KK in section 5 during the presales now they've opened up rows a through GG in those sections. These

StonesHood, I made the exchange by phone: I told the agent which tickets I wanted and which I already had (TM account). I picked the new tickets from the stadium map. The old tickets showed up on the map about 10 minutes later. In fact it looks like someone has bought 2 of them.

I managed to exchange tickets for the Raleigh show. I'd originally bought 3 x $250 (+ garbage fees) bleacher tickets during the presales. Then on Friday they released better (I hope !) tickets in the same section. I managed to get us moved forward by 24 rows.

I got me and the kids in at the Doubletree Brownstone; which I believe is less than 4 miles from the stadium. We live in VA and I didn't fancy the drive home after the show.
