I took my youngest daughter to see Bohemian Rhaosody on its opening weekend. Personally I thought they tried too hard for authenticity to get the "feel" while at the same time they took a few artistic liberties with timeline and the Mike Myers character as an example. My daughter (14) loved the movie: she was in tears by the end. You can't please all of the people all of the time

Quoteab I saw a Stones show with an intermission, the bomb scare show at Charlottesville in 2005. The break broke the momentum of the show, and caused the chopping of Keith's set. I was at that show too. The break totally took the wind out of the band and the audience. I've seen shows by acts as varied as Bruce Springsteen and Rush with breaks/intermissions. It always feels like it t

QuoteElmo Thinking more about Roy's great work in those days reminded me of two more superb music writers of the time, Nick Kent and Charles Shaar Murray. Anyone know what they do these days, I trust they are still with us CSM is still active: His website is pretty good. A bunch of his older work was collected into a compendium called "Shots from the Hip" which is well worth sea

Like many others, Roy's book was the first in my (now extensive) Stones library. Back in the '70s Roy was the voice of reason in the NME. It's very sad to hear of his death. A great writer, who cared about the music and the people he wrote about.

Good to see Joe Perry on stage after his recent health issues. I much prefer this version of Heroes, though. Heroes - King Crimson.

The Beacon in Hopewell is a beautiful little venue, it has been brought back to life by a dedicated group of citizens who managed to bring the City council onboard to resuscitate a once derelict theatre. I saw Robert Cray there a couple of years ago, well worth a visit.

I saw Ian and the Blockheads a couple of times in the late '70s. Great band, a guaranteed good night out. Ian's unique perspective on life resulted in some wonderful songs. Must admit I had no idea the band were still playing. I knew Norman was playing in Wilko Johnson's band but I didn't realize his steady gig with the Blockheads was ongoing.

Henry Juszkiewicz took Gibson down so many blind roads, that the bankruptcy was inevitable. To list a few of his mis-steps: Selling US made guitars with composite (Richlite) fingerboards. Making the min-E tune / G Force robot autotuners mandatory on all non-Custom shop Les Pauls. Selling firebirds and flying Vs with gig bags instead of cases. The plethora of new finishes - too many ugly gui

Just picked up the first album from a trio called the Messthetics. I was in a recors store (remember them!) and this cool guitar band was being played: I asked who it was, at the counter and bought the record. The Messthetics are an instrumental trio: Guitarist Anthony Pirog who is a really dynamic jazz/rock player with a rhythm section of Brendan Canty and Joe Lally who were both in Fugazi a f

Somewhere I have this stuff too. There was a flyer inside my vinyl copy of Undercover. where you could subscribe to Bill German's fanzine and/or buy the fan club package. I signed up for both.

I made my own ringtones and use them on my iphone. It's been a while since I did it but it wasn't that difficult. The only complication was renaming the files with an .m4r file extension instead of .m4a As far as I know on android devices you can use an mp3 file as a ringtone. Just go ahead and pick out a few tunes. I used a number of Stones tunes. I even gave my ex her own ringtone:

QuoteSilver Dagger Still have my 1982 European tour t-shirt which I got at Wembley and about 20 others I've collected since then. I've still got that one too, think I got it at Wembley. My youngest wore it at the Raleigh show in 2015. All told I've probably got about 50 or so shirts in various sizes (I keep growing!) Most of them from tours/shows or the bands website. The

I have an Ipod Video (5th Gen) which I upgraded to 240GB hard drive. I did the uograde myself buth there are people who'll do it for you too. I've got approx 20,000 songs on there and there's room for more. However I've read that Itumes doesn't like more than 20,000 on the older units so I've left it at that. I also have an Iphone 7 with 256GB memory which currently

In the UK back in the 1960s and 1970s, music was so important to our lives that we had several weekly papers devoted solely to it: NME, Sounds, Record Mirror, Melody Maker and Disc. They were necessary because the BBC ignored the muic we loved, both on radio and TV. The music papers were how we found out about bands, tours and new records and so much more that mattered to us. These publication

Typical Stones pattern for a UK tour: holding back the announcment of extra dates. I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't more dates at Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol or Newcastle, in the days to come.

Several attempts bring up similar not very enticing p

I believe that bv set this thread up for both of the London area shows: 22nd May at London Stadium, East London 19th June at Twickenham, West London. The travel and accomodation theme can be applied equally to both shows.

Quote35love The word ‘London’ is too loosely used Cannot defer differences between Twickenham shows, Manchester shows, confusing. Manchester is quite a distance from London, I wouldnt want to be dragged by the ba. . . . .etc. The Rolling Stones ARE playing 2 stadiums in the London area: London Stadium near Stratford, where the olympics were held and presently West Ham Utd.s home ground AND

Quite an eye-opener. Keith and Mick in their RHD (UK registered) cars and both of them driving. I get the impression that most of the footage was made early in the morning, after all-night sessions. Keith's dad (older guy with the pipe) looked as if he was enjoying himself.
