Quotestonehearted ^ See what I mean about too much of a good thing being not so good? I should start a thread on paring down Exile to make it a better, single album, but I don't want to provoke any arguments here. Exile should be a single album indeed.

Most outtakes/demo versions/alternate takes stay in the archives for good reason. May they never see the light of day.

Pessimists. A new Stones-record would sell zillions of copies worldwide. They never had more fans than today. Especially young peolple like Doom And Gloom a lot and the rather young Glastonbury audience was marveled. If only the Stones weren´t that lazy. Live work is more fun to them than studio work, so it will not be easy to get them in a studio for months, no matter what Keith recently mumbled

After that long break between two albums it could easily become their greatest commercial sucess of all times. Media hype and heavy omnipresent promotion would make it a mega-seller. Even Queen Elizabeth would be forced to react.

Quotestonehearted Well, they (the Stones) don't make records like this anymore. Blessed are the Stones, they never did

Yes, most GHS/IORR-songs are boring, most of all the ones on which Taylor stretches out. I think I never listened to IORR or GHS without falling asleep after 15 minutes. I do not dare to put the CD´s in my discman and go for a walk, because I am afraid of falling down on the streets... also never listened to it while driving a car. Always wondered how the former (and later) exciting Stones manage

Talk Is Cheap is a pretty good album for a non-singer, but Wandering Spirit is outstanding. If you think of Mick´s other solo-albums, which are truly awful, WS is almost a miracle. Of course, even WS has some fillers on it, but certainly not as much as Talk Is Cheap. But in the very first place Talk Is Cheap suffers from the singer´s voice. After listening to the A-side of the album I usually

Hard to decide. For me any version without Taylor would do. I Like Ronnie´s approach better. L.A. 75 is extremly enjoyable. Don´t like the Steel-Wheels-Tour-versions.

A new record after 10 years would of course be a chart-topper, no matter how good or bad the album would be. Instant No1 for at least a few weeks. Even without Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus on it.

Maybe it´s a great piece of music, but too complicated for me. It sounds so weird, I can hardly bear it. And there are strings on it, i don´t like strings in rock music, strings belong to Frank Sinatra. Just listened to Moonlight Mile and had to put on She Said Yeah to blow this strange song out of my ears.

Very nice clip, I like it. Wish I could like the song too, but still can´t. I tried very hard, but still can´t. Keith´s nose does not look too good, maybe this is the reason for the video being removed.

Quotebitusa2012 It's a Stones classic. The best ever album closer to this day that they ever released. Totally disagree. Moonlight Mile almost ruins this masterful album. If I could have it my way, it would be removed from all further pressings. This very very strange and almost unlistenable song rather belongs to Their Satanic Majesties Request and even there it would be most unpleasing.

Quotekeefriffhards Mick Jagger is the dude that since 81' ruins Keith's songs. IMHO Very exaggerated opinion. Keith does not need Mick to ruin his songs, he can easily do it himself, if he feels the need to do so. Keith is NOT the Stones. Mick is NOT the Stones. Keith AND Mick ARE The Stones. (other members are soldiers) imho, a Solo-album can NEVER be as enjoyable as a new

Quote24FPS Maybe somebody can mash up Keith and Bill's solo albums and have something actually worth listening to. I´m afraid in this case the pain would be absolutely unbearable

QuoteNaturalust Quote24FPS They need new blood to kick their asses too. Hey I know a ex-Stones virtuoso guitarist who just might be able to do that! What they need least to kick their asses is an aging and unsucsessful ex-guitarist. They need ideas and they need Rick Rubin.

QuoteTurner68 this song should have never been released, much less played live. I´m shocked. This song is a very fine latter-day-Stones-song and one of the best tracks on VL. If they had never released this one, it would be a great loss. I like everything about You Got Me Rocking, it´s a classic Stones-song with every member on fire. Best live version maybe No Security, maybe Twickenham... both g

Doom And Gloom is clearly the STONES. You hear it and you know it and you feel it. Take It So Hard may be sounding like the Stones, but the Stones with their singer on vacation. Doom And Gloom almost shines as bright as Start Me Up, it´s a modern Stones-classic.

Doing their own thing back then, following their muses? It´s not that simple, I believe. If you look close, the Stones in some way always delivered what was "in demand" First Rhythm n Blues, followed by Pop-Songs. Then the psychodelic experiments in answer to the Beatles and Pink Floyd. They became a Rockband, when Rock was in demand. Sure, they developed their own unique style, but

Get them in a studio and make sure Rick Rubin is the producer. Then chances are that at the end at least we have a good-very good album. No one expects a masterpiece but a solid album just like A Bigger Bang was. Cut 12 songs instead of 18. Make sure that Jagger is not singing ballads, his overacting on ballads became more and more unbearable over the last 20 years. Let Keith do the ballads inste

Mick and Keith decided to become a guitar driven, harder rockening band, because this kind of music was in demand. Mick Taylor has almost nothing to do with that, he was never the man to decide which way to go. It´s Mick and Keith and will always be. Any other skillful guitar player could have done what Taylor has done. And Taylor is a blues-based player, not so much a classic rocker imho. So if

If Doom & Gloom is "useless", Start Me Up is useless too. The Stones themselves are useless then. Doom & Gloom is a fine Stones-song, it electrifies me every time I hear it. Wish I could say that of Trouble. If any output from the Stones-camp ever was "useless" then Trouble pops up number one. But it is fine with me, that some people really do like it. Maybe some o

Bass players usually don´t get much attention, especially if they don´t write songs for the band and don´t sing. No wonder that only few people are missing Bill. As for Mick Taylor, he was 5 years with the stones. The Stones are there for 53 years. Nothing left to say. Mick Taylor is history, only a flickering flame in the past. Long gone.

They can´t take their solo-songs and turn them into Stones-songs, mainly because most of these songs are co-written with other artists. For a new Stones-album Jagger/Richards-credited songs are a MUST. One More Shot gave credits also to Wachtel, I think. But this happened only once and they wouldn´t do this on a whole album. Think of a Dave-Stewart-credit on a Stones-album, horrible... And they d

Before praising the improvement of his voice we should know when this caricature of a song actually was recorded. Maybe it slept in the vaults for years. The song is indeed very unpleasing but that means not that the whole album has to be in that way. Even Exile and Sti cky Fingers have their unpleasing moments. Maybe the album is not bad at all. Don´t let your hopes die.
