QuoteGasLightStreet There are plenty of wonky songs left off that they fortunately didn't finish, like the Kenny Loggins Danger Zone wannabe song Honest Man. ... but... but... but Honest Man is the very best of all not-finsihed VL-tracks.

Quotedrbryant QuoteHMS They only hired MT to humilate him. They tried to do the same with Bill, but he didnt need the money so bad. Utter nonsense. Midnight Rambler was basically structured and arranged to allow him to shine. By the end of the tour in Europe and Asia, the song had expanded to 15+ minutes. Check out Roskilde or Stockholm or Auckland from that tour. I’ll never forget those

As good as any rocker from Exile. One of the very few highlights on Steel Wheels.

Quotekeefriffhard4life what "unused sketches" did you hear then. I've heard about 6 top notch songs from those sessions that were not put on any album or single. imo VL should have been a double album with each cd about 50 minutes long I´ve heard Brew,Stew,Ressidue. A 100-minute version of VL? Hard to bear... it is way too long already...But I admit that the b-sides are dynamite

QuoteLazarusSmith But if they're going to focus on the dredging through the past 22 years of their studio work for releasable gems ... what is the real likelihood - if we're honest - that anything left unreleased for the past couple of decades is ... actually releasable? Don´t think there´s much in the can they could use since...1989. They´ve been loading their post DW-albums with fil

Quotedjgab I think that one of the main problem is the rights of all guests, Clapton, JL Hooker and Guns and Roses. Yes. On the other hand, HONK LIVE is loaded with guests and they still came to some agreement. Must be Axel.

QuoteGasLightStreet Fortunately the music buying society and intelligent people don't care when the songs for an album were recorded and released. You're the only one and, fortunately, that means absolutely zero in reality. ...i would not take this for granted. A lot of people care and not all of them are fools. In fact it would be sad if people wouldnt care.

if they stick to the idea of releasing CD/DVD/BR-combinations it becomes very difficult with anything prior to 1981. Either there is no footage or it is of (very) low qualtiy.

QuoteSomeGuy I find the issue of whether TY is a regular studio album or a compilation album fairly uninteresting really. It is interesting for many reasons. Most of all it is necessary to konw that TY isn´t a "regular studio album" for judging their development as artists. TY simply just does not represent the Stones as artists in 1981 (date of release) - Undercover does represent

The information provided on the last 2 pages makes it even more clear that TY isn´t a regular studio-album but a compilation of polished up old tracks (some more some less). The only way one could consider TY a "regular studio-album" would be if the Stones (everyone of them not just Mick) had re-recorded all of the old stuff, not using anything old from the 1972-75 stuff. Then it would

Very strange that the re-broadcast was never bootlegged... Some people are sitting on their tapes probably. I dont know of any radio/TV-broadcast that hasnt been bootlegged rather sooner than later. It´s a mystery.

Quotedcba QuoteGasLightStreet Hearts For Sale, Almost Hear You Sigh and Slipping Away are probably the stand out tracks. Thx for mentioning HFS! Terrifying is also good. Hearts For Sale maybe is Steel Wheel´s strongest track. But Terrifying... is pure 80s crap imo and has studpid lyrics. And it was awful boring live.

Honestly, what would another album of reheated leftovers like TY be good for? What should they say in excuse? "We tried to write new songs for years and years but we failed so we decided to rework songs we once thought of as not good enough to be released/completed." Why not an album of re-recordings of their greatest Hits backed by a 100-piece-orchestra - The Symphonic Rolling Stone

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteSomeGuy Insignificant song, the umpteenth part of this endless 'I was a punk before you were a punk' style series of songs that we had to go through since ages. Maybe. But it's still better than DIRTY WORK. Dirty Work (song) beats Sad Sad Sad every time.

QuoteGasLightStreet It's not that they'd be going back to 1994, it's that they'd be going back just 3 albums (excluding BLUE AND LONESOME). They went back 5 albums for TY. I can't speak for any leftovers from BRIDGES or BANG but some of the leftovers from VOODOO are, musically, incredibly good. Mind bogglingly good, especially when compared to what made the LP. For the

What you fail, effortlessly, to recognize is that that car is not finished. It may've started out in 1972 but wasn't finished until 1981. It's still a new car. That´s a good one, real

Quotekeithsman Then you start to say how much of what Mick does is rehearsed and staged, and then i began to notice every single motion and movement he does is planned down to where to wave and where to be standing a every point within a song within a show. There is nothing spontaneous to what Mick does as a performer I think at his age every move, every step on stage has to be staged and rehe

Sad Sad Sad is a very good song from a very bad album. Or is it only a good song that seems to be very good compared to the rest of the album? In 1989 I couldn´t wait to get my copy and the A-side starts very good but then it goes downhill very fast...it becomes more and more boring... the whole b-side is Stones-unworthy (except Break The Spell). It was the first Stones-album that left me disappo

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 TY was very much the 1981 new Stones album. It was them saying "This is what we got today. This is where we're at, and as good as we can get today. Enjoy." And that is it. This is where "fooling the fans/record-buyers" starts. TY wasn´t where they were at in 1981 (because of the polished very old stuff). And I am not even talking about th

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteHMS QuoteRocky Dijon So the topic of this thread: the long-gestating Stones album, when finally released, will contain a number of tracks that were started by Mick, Matt, and Charlie in 2011. Therefore, the new Stones album will not be a new studio album, but a compilation of old songs finally finished since you're clearly a "bottoms" man. No. It woul
