QuoteMisterO Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts kick ass on this one. Jagger's falsetto, Sonny Rollins Sax, Billy Preston's keyboards. A true heavy weight performance all around. Everything just clicks. I have no idea why they never played it live, but it would be at the top of my "Songs they never played live list". In Four Flicks, we saw them rehearsing it on the Licks Tour.

Never could get into Cher. Yes, she's talented, but her voice always struck me as too Vegas / Broadway for rock.

It's always fascinating to learn the origins of certain songs. I've known for a long time that BS was Mick's song, but when I was younger, I thought it was a classic Keith riff. I was also wrong in thinking that about the guitar parts on Sway and Stop Breaking Down...

There's so many great songs...Very hard to choose one perfect one! Having said that, Slave is indeed awesome in many ways. Lately, I've been trying to decide if there's any ONE song that has everything that makes the Stones great encapsulated in one shot when performed live. For me it used to be JJF but lately it lacks a certain punch and aggression I haven't really heard sinc

Quotekeithsman I don't need to ever hear happy again unless it's beefed up a bit. Keith guitar wise doesn't give it much these days Expected Gary Clark to get into it a bit more. I'f ever there was the time and place for Keith to surprise us with coming down again this was it. Never mind. Really enjoyed hearing Keith sing make no mistake though. Yeah, Happy is a bit lackl

QuoteRollingFreak Caught this last minute after taping it a couple days ago. Everyone's basically said what I will but I thought it was great. I'm not "down" on recent Stones stuff. I actually love Shine A Light and know I'm in the vast minority on thinking thats a really spirited raw performance. Having said that, I questioned whether 10 years down the line they could do

QuoteSvartmer Reflected on stage that Wyman was one of them? I think it´s quite the opposite. While Bill Wyman had no visible interaction with the rest of the band, Darryl and Keith have a great ongoing communication on stage.I saw them live two times with Wyman and he just stood there by himself looking completely indifferent. But again, who cares if he stood still and didn't cavort with

QuotePhil Good QuoteOlly It's unfortunate for Wyman's legacy that the beginning of the Stones' best era as a live act coincided with him leaving the band. Would we have had those swaggering, uninhibited performances during 1994/5 with a motionless Wyman onstage? Bill's departure seemed to release the Stones back to their roots. A capable bassist, but Darryl Jones is a

And let's face it - all these suggestions of opening with some deep cut might float our fantasies, but you know they will open with something that the general public will be very familiar with. That being the case, Street Fighting Man was a good opener on Licks. All Down The Line Might Work if they add a bit more aggression and maybe bump the tempo a bit.

Quotejackflash27 I always liked Under My Thumb from the 81 tour. That opening riff works really well. That was a great opener back then. But for it to still work as an opener, they'd have to play it with that degree of aggression with the guitar doing the main riff. Most recently, the way they tried to replicate the studio version was nice but nowhere near as aggressive as it would have to

At this point, he's probably gonna play it safe and stick with his most common ones. Now IF the tour were running in December, Run Run Rudolph would be a great choice. However....

QuoteMKjan Bad without Bill. Wish he never left. It's all relative. In their own way, they've still played very well since Bill left and D. Jones does a reliable job. But as mentioned by several, that "classic Stones sound" is a thing of the past. That pulsing tight but loose swing and roll. Bill and Stu were a huge part of that. Now they sound more "professional"

It was a treat to see it. And wasn't it great that they pulled off such a good performance on the first show of a tour? We all know they're a bag of nerves on first nights...

I miss him a lot. D. Jones is very good but the loss of Bill, as well as Stu was the end of the classic Stones sound - at least to my ears. They're still great, but it's not the same.

Both. I mean, we can predict most of the songs, but we can always hope for something different. Under My Thumb and Dancing With Mr. D were not very expected last year.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteHonkeyTonkFlash Got to see it on PBS last night. Really enjoyed it. I have the audio release but it was fun to see it and they were in great form. Thanks to YouTube, we all know there's been some sketchy gigs as the boys get older, but they really had it all together in this recent filmed gig as well as in Havana. My only complaint was that I would prefer if they

Quotecorriecas The Faces (in the 1970's). Jeroen Yeah, I would have LOVED to have seen the Faces! I was a huge fan, but I was only 14 when they broke up and didn't have the ways and means to start doing concerts yet. Stones in 1978 would be my first big concert!

Thought of one more - Never got to see an entire Grateful Dead show. Went to see them on what turned out to be Jerry's last tour at Giants Stadium but my unfortunate choice of companion was a guy who just got too wierded out by all the tripping freaks, he was having panic attacks or something and I gave in to leaving after just a few songs. Still not really sure what they dude's problem

Also regret never having seen the Who in their classic incarnation. Saw them in 1989, so at least I saw them with the Ox but that was an atypical Who tour with all the horns and backups, Pete not playing much electric, etc. Still enjoyed it very much though! A related regret - the friend I was going to The Who with got hung up somewhere and we left home later than I wanted to. Actually missed

And regrets - I'v had a few.... Never got to see Led Zeppelin, and Stones related...I had tickets for the boys at Madison Square Garden in 1981, got the flu and gave my ticket to a friend, which I regret deeply.Should have just gotten heavily medicated and gone! For weeks after the show, my friends kept reminding me of all the greatness I had missed! But at least I saw one of the stadium

Unless they radically change their approach, they'll probably dust off a couple we haven't heard in a while and otherwise the songs will be the usual hit-heavy selections.

QuoteJ.J.Flash When was your first time buying a Stones album as soon as it went on sale? Let's see how far back we can go .Mine was Undercover. I was one year late on Tattoo You. Goats Head Soup in 1974. I was 14 and had recently become a rabid fan thanks to my older brother's copy of Ya Yas. The die was cast. I bought a whole lot of Stones albums on their release day ever since then

Ace and Gene go ok, jesus they were bigger than the Stones in late 70's early 80s... Why do people make claims like this all the time. No they were not. They were never bigger then the Stones. Sounds like one of those behind the music shows

One thing I always loved about TY, besides the songs and how they're performed is the *sound* of the album. For an album of tracks culled from several different sessions, they mastered them in a way that made them sound like they were all of a piece. It was a long time before I realized how many different sources the album came from. At the time, in some interviews, they did mention that som
