I'm really beginning to love the free-style skiing and snowboarding. Slope-style is another event I guess. Kind of confusing to keep track. Anyway, these people are skiing backwards...totally scary but fun to watch!

I'm not entirely sure. They called her first run...a monster run...if I heard it correctly because she accumulated so may points. She had it in the bag after that. Way ahead of the pack. I'm not sure about her final score or if she was able to add points. I didn't catch that. All I remember was that when she was starting her final run they said she already had the gold. Very

I think Johnny and Tara are cute together. They've created a rather nice post-Olympic career for themselves and despite all the fun and fashion, I like their skating commentaries. They know what they're talking about from the inside out.

For my part, women's figure skating is my favorite event of the Olympics. I'm routing for Mirai Nagasu but I think one of the Russian skaters...Alina and/or Evengia??...will win the gold. They both are terrific skaters. What's up with Russia anyway? They were banned from this Olympic Games but some athletes were eventually allowed to compete under the Olympic Flag. Are their med

QuoteThe Sicilian QuoteBellajane [ So far I'm extremely disappointed in NBC's coverage. I feel like I'm missing everything. All I've seen is figure skating, moguls and some snow boarding. The commercials are killing everything. Granted many are Olympic related themes (sponsorship), but the timing is limiting views of replays and athletes etc...In the upstate NY market, everyt

QuoteStoneage QuoteBellajane I often hear this complain from the states when The Olympics is on. But isn't that a price to pay for commercial tv? It's a bit strange to hear this complaint from a country where commercialism is a norm. Regretfully it has become a norm here too. In the old days it was broadcasted on public service tv. Now we have to settle with stupid ads too. And lo

NBC should get a gold medal for the sheer number of commercial interruptions. It's awful...so many! I don't recall it being this bad in previous Olympic coverage the past years. Other than that, I really love watching the Olympics especially the figure skating and snowboarding! I go into withdrawal when the Olympics end. Feel sort of sad.

We're a balmy 18 degrees and climbing. Should be in the low 40's later this week with rain. It's good things will melt off a bit, but with rain comes refreeze at night and the wonderful black ice. Have to sneak in a car wash before we get another Artic Blast!

Oh such sad news. Just loved the Moody Blues since I was a kid. I'm sorry he had to succumb to prostate cancer. It's a very treatable and curable disease, but sadly things didn't work out that way for him. RIP

Frigid!! It's currently 7 degrees below zero here in upstate New York and typically has been double digits below zero these past few nights. I believe it's supposed to be like this through the New Year. We've had 2 snowstorms already and a nice white Christmas...now I want all of it to melt away. Used to love winter as a kid but it's become a burden. Get the blahs sometime

Just reading some things online...as much as I can stand reading about this monster...anyway his sister (never knew he had one), his cousin and childhood acquaintances have said that Manson would manipulate his grade school classmates (mostly female) into attacking other classmates that he didn't like. When reprimanded he denied doing this and said that they wouldn't have done anything

QuoteRolling Hansie QuoteBellajane How is this a terrible topic? Nothing wrong with this topic. Nothing wrong with your intentions either. It is just the title of the thread that scared people, including myself. I really thought there was something wrong with Eric Clapton. You can easily change the title. Go back to your original post. Quotebleedingman Terrible Topic How is this a terrible topic? Just merely inquired about his health. All things being equal, considering some of the discussions and insensitive remarks on this forum, this topic is fairly benign. I could have posted his photo from LAX and stated Clapton's On Death's Door. I just asked a question that's all.

Given all of the sad and depressing news about musicians' ill- health and death in some cases, I was wondering how Eric Clapton was doing. I checked briefly online and he looked very frail in recent photos. He was in a wheelchair at the airport this spring. I gather he's suffering from peripheral neuropathy which is depressing. Wondering if he'll ever play guitar again? Has any

Pursuant to my earlier post, also check out Michal J. Fox's website. There's tons of information on there. If you remember, he was afflicted with early-onset Parkinson's at age 29. There's a lot of help out there. Plus I think it's cool that you want to reach out and help others! Very positive and healthy attitude. Share the love!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

A friend of mine's husband has Parkinson's and the last I heard he's doing fine and coping well. They live in Scotland so I haven't seen them in quite awhile but he's still golfing and gardening and getting on with life. I'm sure there are so many therapies and treatments. I suggest researching websites on the Internet and work out a plan with your physician. T

QuoteLeonidP would have been nice to hear of him apologizing for all he did, on his deathbed ... guess that didn't happen Apologize!! Last night I saw an interview of him from the 80's and when asked if he felt guilty about his crimes he responded by saying he only felt guilty because he didn't kill enough people. He should have killed 500. This guy was nuts. I guess he was di

Quote2000 LYFH QuoteBellajane Hi Bellajane - Also Bobby Beausoleil and Bruce Davis who helped kill Gary Hillman. Davis also killed Donald (Shorty) Shea. Beausoleil was an early member of the famous LA band "Love" with Arthur Lee. He also wrote music for a version of the film Lucifer Rising. Well, there were lots of crazies associated with the Manson Family. I think there was a

Good Riddance!! He was a brutal monster. Two down...three more to go. What I really don't understand about this case is when the Manson Murderers' death sentence was commuted to life, why the little clause "without the possibility of parole" wasn't factored in? Unfortunately this did not happen and the families of the victims (especially Sharon Tate's mother and

No, there were two stories here in the U.S. One involved some drunk college student who was in someone's driveway acting strange, so the home owner became afraid and shot him to death. Another story involved a young black woman whose car broke down. She knocked on someone's door for help and the person was afraid because she was black and shot her. In both cases, the homeowner was pr

I really don't know what the statistics are regarding gun ownership and thwarting home invasions. So many people who own guns keep them secured in lockboxes on top of their closet or in a safe so the kiddies don't get hurt (unfortunately that isn't always foolproof). So, unless you have a gun under your pillow or in a drawer in a nightstand by your bed and are a damn good shot, I

There was a photograph that I saw on tv the other night. I think it was CNN..can't remember really. It was so chilling and in an instant captured the innocence and insanity of that terrible night. I've been looking for it online but I can't handle going on these websites any longer because many of the pictures are too graphic. It's sickening. Anyway, it was a young

I loved his music; however, one of my most salient memories of him was when he and his band stayed at The Sagamore Resort in upstate NY when they were on tour many..too many summers ago. They partied very heartily throughout the night much to the dismay of the resort guests. Fair enough. It's a very expensive family-oriented resort. Had to deal with many complaints the next morning.
