Amazingly powerful, and it's just a rehearsal. Imagine what it would have sounded like if the band were have to entered the studio for real.

Whatever it's flaws, still my choice as "desert island disc." For me, it's the greatest album ever made.

I have a boot of the audio portion. Are you saying that the DVD is a legit release? This I gotta get!

I finished this book recently. Very excellent. Far, far better than that hack job done a couple of years ago called Gimmie Danger. I believe that this book is as close as we are going to get to the definitive story of Jim Osterberg/Iggy Pop. I just finished reading Everett True's Ramones bio, which would have been equally as highly recommended, except that Mr. True spreads liberal doses

I think that to think JT was nothing more than a Keith clone is very superficial. The Dolls created their own style, and Johnny's post-Dolls look is also very much his own. He certainly admired and was influenced by Keith, but he was arguably just as influenced by, if not moreso, groups that his sister turned him onto, like the Shangri-La's. As far as chemicals, Johnny did not fall in

If I may answer for Come On, Thunders made really energetic, raw music, effortlessly, just like rock and roll should be. He just had that special feel, like he was a natural.

This film has been shown a bunch of time very recently on IFC, so if you get cable, you may be able to catch it again in the near future.

There was talk of the Dolls being signed to Rolling Stones records. The two Mick's went to check them out, but didn't like them. Thunders is my all time hero as well, and yes the Groovies were a great band. Slow Death sounds like it would have been right at home on Exile.

You can't go wrong with any and all albums featuring the classic line up. After that, Orgasmatron is a must have, as is the double live Everything Louder Than Everything Else. We want to be the kind of band that if we moved next door to you, your lawn would die. --Lemmy

St. Marks Bar and Grill was on St. Marks and 2nd Ave. (I think). It no longer exists, but was a great hangout for a good long while. I had lots of strange nights and odd experiences there. That it is gone is kind of a benchmark for me as to how much the city has changed.

Such a sad run of luck in the end for a band who fought the good fight for so long. They left a whole bunch of great songs, and truly did change the face of rock and roll. They also wrecked a whole bunch of eardrums along the way. RIP Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee (my personal favorite of da bruddas).

For a while there, it looked like they were gonna single-handedly redefine what a rock band could do. But, plain and simple the first record and Give 'Em Enough Rope, just f---in' rock!

For me, I admire survivors, talented people wise enough to make it through to the other side (no, not Break on Through). Keith, Lou Reed, Iggy (who, onstage truly is the "shamen" that Morrison blathered on about). All great talents who could have gone the way of Jimbo, but were too damn smart.

All I know is that the Doors may have been the most overrated band in rock history. I'm sorry of course that Jimbo is gone, he was a very charismatic fellow, but a poet, he was not.

For some reason I remember tickets for the NY show being $17.50, but at this late date it's just a guess. I do remember having a good time and being thrilled at seeing two of the Stones.

I like the band, but I don't really like the Gimmie Shelter cover too much. Now, Inside Looking Out, THAT'S a great cover!
