Ron Wood. Not just a cheap shot, I believe many other Brit guitarists would have done better.

Quotepotus43 Quotekammpberg The lowest point for me was gathering my friends to watch the Stones live on Saturday Night Live in 1978 and saying how they were the greatest etc. Jagger had no voice but the lowest was when he tongue kissed/licked Ronnie Wood uh - that was so awful. I was embarrassed. That was fantasticI find Mick's current "straight" act more offensive.

Using studio effects for the last 25 years because they are afraid to sound like themselves. Big mistake, underneath all the fluff there is still greatness.

The horns were added only on the remix and later in concert. Keith, Ronnie and Mick were determined to have a guitar wall represent the horns on the original version. They missed the mark and should have gone with the more traditional approach. I was in no position to offer opinions but it was painfully obvious. I am sure this same mindset has created the mediocre albums and dated sounds that c

Suprisingly I have an opinion on the post Doors Doors. In the 70's Ray milked it, he went as far as to go along with the Jim is alive crap saying stuff like if anyone could manage it Jim could. Back then many of us Doors worshipers felt Ray was the worst of the worst as far as exploiting his pal. Robbie as Grace Slick said is the musicial brains in the band and as a quartet they were all

Too much chorus effect on the guitars and keys. Makes it sound dated.

QuotePoetry I suppose you mean Anyday? one of the few non-slide solos he did with them, including Little Wing and Why does Love Got To Be So Sad.yes Anyday a typo.. This is a time stopping solo, of course just an example but it is astounding how many Duane's get listed. He is perhaps the.most important electric guitarist of all.

QuoteNaturalust QuoteOlly QuoteNaturalust ...my best guess is that Thorogood was involved, rough play that turned into a tragic manslaughter, not quite a premeditated murder and not quite an unassisted accident. Can you expand on this? What do you think the reason was for Thorogood's 'rough play'? I'm just speculating but I think they were just stoned and drunk, Peopl

In their prime they were a great band. Hanging on too long without getting better is their only sin. Bono politically is a blowhard but he has tried to make a statement and puts his money and time where his mouth is. It seems they are the band to hate but in the 80's they played the best show around, music was pretty awful then and they were one of the good ones.

QuoteNaturalust Hang in there stonesrule, some people just don't have a clue about how lucky we are to have you and a few other posters on here who have first hand stories to tell about those rich and potent times. Mick Jagger himself could come on this board and post about something and some people would be instantly mocking him for being a know-it-all and questioning his authenticity.

A short tour with a pick up band, how good could they really be to merit these prices and the size of the venues? I'll grab a cheapie single the day before just to hear his vibrato once more. These old timers who tour but deprive us of a reunion just stink. Clapton did us right with Cream, that made so many people happy. I saw Pink in their prime years about a dozen times. Really somethin

QuoteThrylan QuoteHMS QuoteThrylan The day you start to dig Just Wanna See His Face, is the day you'll get it. Maybe not even the Stones dig Just Wanna See His Face It's my best metaphor for the whole thing- to most, it is the most inaccessible track. I like others skipped around the 4 sides a lot for awhile. Then it happened, I was probably stoned, and wham! I realize I am groovi

Quotemaumau SFM question about SFM, has Tim always come out in the end on soprano sax? Chuck does a great job in the end jam as well. These sidemen are doing a hell of a job. There's plenty of slamming them here but this is the best band on earth with talent to spare. Matt Clifford does not play on every song yet so often I hear something great and find it's him.

Powder drugs can turn to paste when stashed in a shoe in the hot desert. You have to do what you must and scrape it from it's package and then try to find a way to snort or ingest the paste. Jagger is too "clean" to actually admit this himself, SV is his companion or alter ego doing the Dirty Work.

Felder uses a Les Paul like MT. He may have dipped into some similar modes, it's a fair comparison with for instance with TWFNO harmonicly. My educated guess is Taylor improvised his solos and he and the producer compiled the best bits for the final versions. Hotel Caliellfornia is more worked out like Freebird, the solo is learned and perfected, recorded in sections and then compiled. O

Love the extra verse in Ya Ya's. Is it on LUL too, can't recall? Anyhow both great records, no one knows how to mix a live record today is right, Bob Clear'mcmuffin included. Who ever mixed the last 2 Stones singles as well. No one knows how to mix The Stones anymore. Plundered my Soul was ok but should have sounded like Exile, it would have been easy I believe.

Quotedrbryant QuoteMathijs It defines Exile in a way -you imagine them sitting there in this swampy basement, jamming on tracks like this. Funny thing though that it was completely recorded in LA. Mathijs I thought that the track was one of those recorded in Nellcote. Wikipedia says as much. Was it worked on in Nellcote and then completely redone in LA? For Whitlock's claims to be va
