I've been to Foxboro. Saw the Grateful Dead with Los Lobos opening for them there in 1989. My question was where is Foxborough? Leicestershire?

Very nice match today with a trio of beautiful goals. A shame on the offsides call negating the English goal, but them's the rules. Glad the ref sent off Bright. Alex Morgan has been getting beat up this whole tournament. Tomorrow, I am pulling for the Swedes. They sat 7 starters in their group play finale 2-0 loss to the U.S. to avoid the French in the Quarterfinals. At full-strengt

Chuck Leavell is an excellent keyboardist. Besides his mid-70's stint in the ABB, he also played in the Southern Rock/Funk fusion band Sea Level with fellow Allman Brothers Jaimoe and Lamar Williams, as well as Randall Bramlett, Jimmy Nalls and others. He's a very knowledgeable and professional musician. I remember hearing him sit-in as a guest on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz o

The band Whiskey Myers just played in the theater above my record shop this past Friday, fresh off their opening slot for the 2nd Chicago show. One of the band members told me that there was no talk of the Stones taking the show off the road and that plans were already being made for a tour next year.

Seems to me it's better to just randomly go pick them up than spend too much time thinking about it. It's all a roll of the dice. I got good seats with LD's in Stockholm on the 14 On Fire tour, and in Pittsburgh on the Zip Code tour. Not pit, but both good seats just off the floor. I'll be getting a pair for the Seattle show on August 14. I do find the tales of peo

Here's the NPR obit: There was an excellent tribute set to Dave and Fats' music on the Acura Stage at NOLA Jazzfest on the Sunday of the first weekend with contributions from Irma Thomas, Bonnie Raitt and others. Here's to a magnificent life.

This is just the preliminary parade to his funeral parade. They play slow dirges on the way to the cemetery and then raucous celebratory songs on the way home. Dr. John's was a life lived large, and will have an accompanying large send-off.

I like when they bring out a guest to help on a rare cut, like when they had Buddy Guy join them for "Champagne and Reefer" in Milwaukee in 2015. When I was in New Orleans for Jazzfest this year, ahem, not seeing the Stones, I saw Alvin Youngblood Hart do a great version of "Child Of The Moon" at a late night set at Chickie Wah Wah. Some drop ins like that on deep cuts would

Just scored a pair of Lucky Dips for Seattle. 2 tickets for $74.30. Thank you ticket gods! After having my plans of seeing the Stones at New Orleans Jazzfest scotched, and having slept on tickets for my hometown show, it's a big relief and a shot of adrenaline to know I'm in.

Carol Kaye was part of The Wrecking Crew, and played on several memorable records. Bonnie Raitt studied under Mississippi Fred McDowell and Lowell George and became an influential slide guitar and Blues-Rock performer. I was surprised when I finally got around to listening to the Andrews Sisters to discover that much of their repertoire was in the Jump-Blues, Early Rock & Roll style of

Hope August 14 in Seattle is free of smoke from wildfires. This has normally never been an issue here, but the last two years, we have had extremely poor air quality (and heat) in early August.

It's very cool they are releasing this for their 50th anniversary. You know what else would be cool? How about an acoustic set for the premier?

I agree with you about the Nirvana, GnR & Oasis LPs. Albums I used to play but now rarely, if ever, revisit. Metallica's self-titled, Badly Drawn Boy's The Hour Of Bewilderbeast and Air's Moon Safari are three more heavily lauded albums from a different time of my life that I seldom return to.

Not sure what you're getting at Stan. Who are the Vultures? The Ventures took instrumental surf rock worldwide, and had a profound effect on a young Jimi Hendrix.

Keef looking sprightly for Kentucky Derby Day 2019 is something no one saw when they wrote "Dead Flowers". I visited with my aunt and uncle last week who are 77 and 79, and they discussed how you don't want to carry too much weight as you age, but that you need to be careful to keep some weight on in case you get sick.
