QuoteSilver Dagger I wonder what made Dave Clark finally sell them? Perhaps he needs the money. If he needed the money, he'd reissue the catalog for the Dave Clark Five, which has been out of print for some time. They should release entire shows in DVD box set series -- what a fantastic time capsule, and a chance to see more of the lovely Cathy McGowan.

I don't get why Keith would be still standing on the cake -- is it because this Brownjohn fellow was Keith's friend? By the way, that looks more like a cartoon representation of Brian Wilson than it does of Keith. And the model of Mick, it looks more like a MAD Magazine version of Peter Noone. I never really thought much of the front and back cover artwork for this album; the only

Should've shown up to play a track or two as a featured performer. Would've been one of the evening's highlights, to prove their staying power. Could've picked up more album sales and a few new fans. Might've resulted in an increased media presence ahead of their next tour, not to mention the new album.

The Stones didn't break up because of her; so, no. They also didn't have her in the studio wailing lunatic mantras into a microphone... As far as Mick and Keith spending less time together, that's just a natural progression. They have many differences in personality and taste, and as they mature it gets reflected in their social lives, etc. By the way, Yoko began by stalking

I saw the Zombies last year in a small theater venue, and there were signs posted prohibiting video and/or audio recording of any kind, and that if you were caught recording you'd be ejected. So, what's the problem? Since when has bootlegging been legal? The smartphone craze has just made it too difficult for these laws to be enforced. For those who think it's "cool&q

Time Is On My Side live in 1981 is a world of difference to the version(s) recorded in 1964, or even played live that year... then again, it wasn't exactly the same band, was it?

QuoteBowieStone Elton John, Neil Diamond, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Slayer all made retiring announcements within the same week. There’s a shift in the business. More the gradual winding down of an era that lasted far longer than anyone could have imagined 40 or even 25 years ago. A workaholic only stops working when forced to by ill health.

There can be too much NPR, it just goes on and on. That lengthy article link in the OP, it was just too much to take in for one read. The article references in the first sentence a movie I'd never even heard of; it just became too much, too soon. It's All Too Much:

Quotebuffalo7478 Americana is just a terrible record. I listened to it through once, and the problem is not the subject matter, but that it is just tuneless. Quotebuffalo7478 Ray should stick to what he is master of: songs based on life in the UK. Though many things in common with parts of America, the Kinks were unapologetically British and I loved them for it. They took me places. It lik

I've enjoyed talking about this new studio album they've been working on, but it gets a bit old after a year and a half. I think it's time they started working on a follow-up to another studio album. That way, we'd have something to keep us talking about until 2020.

QuoteSomeTorontoGirl A lot of people are quietly saving that image, stonehearted. My coin dealer tells me that was done a lot in the old days. Not where the coins were minted, but someone with access to the tools that could alter the "e" in "cent" to a "u". They show up in coin shops to this day. I bought one last summer, an 1847 large cent with that alteration on

I just checked page 1 of this thread, which began on December 9, 2016. At that time, band members were saying they had half an album of material. Remember how they went into the studio in 2012 and recorded 2 songs in 1 week? Now it's taking 2 years just to get the other 6 or 7 songs together. Perhaps the touring every year and only devoting those couple of months each year to con

I don't know, I do a Yahoo search to get the story where Eric Clapton says he's going deaf, and instead, at the top of the story, is some video "talk-show" interview with a 350-pound woman who wants to undergo surgery to get "the biggest butt in the world" -- what is needed is one of 100 inches. But you really know the rock era has gone South when one of the c

QuoteRollingFreak Yeah, as I said, I don't see any of it as "controversial" as many have claimed, but that key part of "I'll play whatever you want, or I won't play at all...whatever it is that will please you, I'll do it". While its incredibly interesting to watch, I do feel like we're also not supposed to be there, and certainly that they shared that

Yes, Paul wants him to play something and to reinforce his point he recalls how George wanted to play accenting guitar lines in Hey Jude, and here is a clip of that moment:

QuoteHairball Wouldn't performing a setlist that consists of old songs - 95% of which were recorded recorded over 35 years ago - be considered resting on their laurels? I'll play devil's advocate and say not really. It's more a case of letting the jaded masses decide what they play. I would bet IORRians think of the Stones more often and more constantly than even the

And even in L.A. it was largely faked. A Hollywo

Leave it to the Britrags to use even the occasion of one's passing for a withering critique of something they didn't like. They even got the photo caption wrong -- it's from 1965, not 1967. It just shows the "writers" of this Britrag clearly don't know w
