Quotestupidguy2 Brian just deteriorated so suddenly....that's why alcohol is so much more dangerous than any other drug. The drugs played a part most definitely, but I've seen so many people just go down so quick from alcohol. Sad. Agreed stupidguy2! Always thought that was Brians major problem, that he became an alcoholic, at an early age too IMHO... it destroys your looks, and wreak

QuoteMarie Quotemitchflorida The second was to an older married woman? Am I supposed to feel sorry for Brian for that? The third one was when he was 19. Isn't he considered an adult at 19? How about number 4 and number 5? You didn't talk about those. Sorry. Number 4 is Linda Lawrence's son Julian. Number 5 was put up for adoption by Dawn Malloy, born in 1965. Not trying t

QuoteSwedgen72 QuoteBlue Well, for starters, great electric slide work! Anyone who says Brian Jones was overrated needs to listen to that solo. Still awesome nearly 50 years later. Incredible to think no one had played slide guitar like that in the UK before this. I concur!

Six out of seven of the original Stones, all together on one stage! It would be a wish come true for Stones fans!

May I be so bold as to move "Their Satanic Majesties Request" into category three?? Some great innovative tunes on it, with nice melodies... Like "The Citadel", "2000 Light Years"!

QuoteHis Majesty QuoteBlue Whoa... The UK missed out on Ruby Tuesday... Wow... That just doesn't make too much sense. Erm, it was coupled with Let's Spend The Night Together as a single. The UK didn't miss out. Yeah, but i meant similar to how, initially, the US was deprived of "Little Red Rooster" for a time before it was released later on on an album. Many song

QuoteSleepy City QuoteBlue Aha!! The album where "She Smiled Sweetly" came from....simplistically beautiful song and a bit unusual, love it! And of course the famous Ruby Tuesday!...I think they should of left "back Street Girl" and "Please Go Home" on the the American release....maybe it would of fared better than it did. Ruby Tuesday isn't on the UK version

Quote24FPS Lots of "menace" in those mellotron and recorder parts! - 71 Tele I find Brian's mellotron in 2000 Light Years From Home to be very dark, menacing and exotic. Even the recorder part on Ruby Tuesday is disconcerting when Mick sings, "...lose your mind". Also, I still believe that Brian plays the lead solo on 'Time Is On My Side'. The reason I bel

Quotelem motlow its really great to hear the real keith richards.he was such a positive person with a great outlook. notice when they ask him about solo records he says they all should do them and will in the future because they have songs that wont work with the stones. contrast that with the angry, negative person he has become.playing music critic and not even admitting he ever wanted to pl

Quoterootsman QuoteRobertJohnson It is difficult to estimate. Brian Jones is regarded as the founder of the band, as a blues man, but there are no compositions, no guitar solos, no any other prolific material which is identifiable as Brian's... How about these?: Road Runner – lead guitar, probably harmonica I Want To Be Loved (the B-side) – harmonica I Wanna Be Your Man – lead (slide)

Quoterootsman Quote71Tele ...Of course Brian made an enormous contribution on guitar when they started out as a blues/R&B cover band, and made a magnificent transition to being a multi-instrumentalist when they became a pop-rock band that rivaled The Beatles. I don't know why we even argue about any of that. But apparently it was not enough for Brian and he self-destructed. Songwriting i

Quotemickschix So glad I got your attention, TONTERAPI, but I stand by my opinion. An opinion is one persons' viewpoint and from where I'm sitting, he was not such a part of the genius that made the Stones great, ie the songs that they wrote. Lots of British bands tried to rival the Beatles but the Stones were the only ones up to the test because they wrote great songs. Brian was not a

QuoteJah Paul QuoteJames Kirk Pretty insulting if the promoters would prefer half of the Beatles to close the show than the 100% intact Rolling Stones to close it out. Well, depending on how some of us old-timers look at it, 60% intact is more accurate. Yeah.. But the old timers could reach a max of 80% if Bill would show up.... And imagine, for those that prefer the Taylor era, if both Bill an
