Horrifically bad. That Hunter replacement Mott singer is an abomination. They'd have been better off letting Overend Watts cough out a never-ending series of Born Late '58 rewrites. And I'm a big fan of Mott the Hoople. BTW, Brain Capers is an overlooked classic.

Quotegeorgie48 QuoteThe Sicilian Didn't The Who use Simon Townshend off the stage for years to add fill in sound? Both on and off stage, but not in the 1971/1972 period. He was too young (born in 1960). The stages used by The Who (Liverpool, Amsterdam) in that period were very simple ... no curtains. Occasionally a guy appeared on stage modestly doing something to equipment at the backgrou

They're both steaming piles. Let's Work just stinks worse. Please don't blame Geoffrey Arnold for Let's Work. He was just a session player on that one. Blame Dave Stewart: he co-wrote and co-produced it.

First b-stage set 10/12/97 Philadelphia: Little Queenie, The Last Time and Crazy Mama. I was about 50 feet away. I'd seen eight Stones shows before that night, but those early B-stage sets were particularly fresh and exciting.

Got the Let It Bleed and brown Band super deluxes yesterday. Both albums are sacred tomes. The LIB set has 2 180g LPs (mono and stereo) and 2 hybrid SACDs (mono and stereo) of the album, a contemporary 7" single with a very important non-LP A-side, a poster, 3 prints and an 80-page hardcover book. No dice, marbles, pins, or scarves. Currently goes for about $100. The Band set has a 2x1

QuoteGerardHennessy Almost everyone thinks I am crazy for buying the 50th Anniversary box set. But I don't care. I absolutely love it. It is as much a visual and emotional purchase for me as an auditory one. I remember like it was yesterday buying the album when it was released in 1969, then smuggling it up to my bedroom to avoid a face off with my dad, who hated The Stones and would have ta

Quotewonderboy Elvis, if he had managed his career right. I flip past the Elvis channel on Sirius and they often have Elvis doing Neil Diamond covers. Neil Diamond hired Elvis's drummer Ronnie Tutt shortly after Elvis died. Tutt also played in Jerry Garcia's mid-70s band. Between these 3 employers, Tutt must have some stories.

JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, June 17, 1978, $12.50. Setlist was almost the same as Cleveland, but they didn't play Lies and did Satisfaction after Shattered. The Some Girls songs were in a different order from Cleveland. Not a very good show. Jagger had a cold. Tried to make like any other band plugging a new album and didn't pay enough attention to the back catalog. 90 minutes, no en
