QuoteElmo Lewis He, Chuck, Jerry Lee, and Elvis pretty much defined "50's rock and roll". Your 50s rock n roll Mt. Rushmore right there.

The Kraftwerk live show is one of the most impressive I've seen in 47 years of going to concerts. With the 3D visuals (yes, audients get cardboard specs at the door) and the surround sound and the four men in matching skin suits standing behind the matching lecterns, it's quite the spectacle. Florian left 12 years ago, but he was part of everything in the setlist.

Quotejbwelda Yes because as we all know well, Mick has a deep deep attachment to the "wage earners" and empathy for the struggle they endure. Regular salt of the earth guy he is. jb You doubt 58 years of deep concern for the people who make the Stones merch, the sales of which has helped make him a very rich man?

Get a load of Kreskin here, seven for seven. For those of us who bought all the DVDs upon release, the joke's on us. But this series is worthwhile for casual fans, who might not otherwise see this footage. Extra Licks keeps the Stones in lights when live entertainment has gone dark.

Too slick, too polished, and, but for Factory Girl and Red Rooster, rendered unnecessary by the Tokyo 90 releases. Too many bad Steel Wheels songs. Almost entirely lacking in grit.

Quotetatters QuoteSpodlumtHis touring band "The Beach Boys" is a disgrace to their legacy. It's better than nothing. If I want to see the Beach Boys catalog played live, I go see Brian Wilson, not the Beach Boys. Even though Brian's performance level has declined lately, his band is able to faithfully recreate his most complex instrumental and vocal arrangements.

His second live album, Captured Live, is also quite good. That one includes Bony Maronie, his epic Highway 61 Revisited, and It's All Over Now. But his best work was when he quit being a rock star (his rock star period being between Johnny Winter And and Saints And Sinners) and just played the hell out of the blues. Those records he did with Muddy Waters ring true.

JFK was the first stadium show of the tour. I was there, one week out of high school. 90,000 people, many of whom were drinking and drugging all night in the parking lot, were also there. It rained in the morning, and there was a horrible crush at the gates when they opened. The natives were restless after Tosh and Ferner and a 90-minute break. Some Girls was released only the previous week. I

Quoteleteyer Wasn't the Live Aid show played at JFK? Yes, the US portion. The two 1989 Philadelphia Stones shows were originally booked as one show at JFK Stadium. But the old dump was condemned over the summer of that year. The Stones did two shows across the parking lot at Veterans Stadium instead, but did a dress rehearsal in empty JFK Stadium. The FU Center (or whatever it's c

Quotewindmelody Even if I often criticised Keith Richards I would like to defend him here - a video like that is a signal, but it is not a musical pleasure to get into. So I do not expect him to be too thrilled. Charlie Watts puts on a funny performance though, a bit of english humour can help through dark times. Also, it looked like he was playing YCAGWYW in standard tuning for the first time

FWIW, upon announcing last week the postponement of a 2020 summer tour, King Crimson made their entire 11-show 2008 tour available for download for $67 (dgmlive.com). They have previously made other entire tours available for download. One can only dream that the Stones would do same.

Quote24FPS Sparks Will Fly? Really? It's one of those throwaways like Sad, Sad, Sad, or Dirty Work. There's almost always at least one on each album since Undercover. And on Voodoo Lounge, it's the second of two consecutive throwaways. With those two throwaways being the second and third tracks, it doesn't bode well for the album.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 QuoteBungo "There were actually two shows that day." I'm not convinced of this. I've never heard of Lou ever doing 2 shows in one day. It is my contention that there was only 1 show that day and the two resulting records (RnR Animal and Live) is everything from that show. I can't explain the advert. Maybe management or the record company w

I have mixed feelings about RnRA and Live. RnRA was my gateway to Lou and the Velvet Underground as a suburban 13 year-old. And it's my favorite heavy metal album ever. But it's so cynical: It's as if Ezrin said "Get the best band money can buy and put Lou out front, drunk as a rat. Who cares if he's mumbling and slurring his words all over the place? The band is so f

Wire, Union Stage, DC 3/9/20 Went with my wife who is wheelchair bound from brain cancer. We were set up toward the back of the room, when a female fellow audient with whom we had spoken earlier asked if we wanted to see the show from up front. She led the way and got people to move so that my wife was able to see the Wire set from against the stage dead center, in front of Colin Newman's

QuoteMingSubu Quotekeefriff99 Quoteab Kenny Rogers folds'em. I almost posted that, but thought some might take it in bad taste. Certainly no sleight meant...great song, and a great reference to the departed Mr. Rogers. My cousin and I have an ongoing contest to get out the first tasteless pun when a musician/athlete/celebrity passes. None are suitable for mass consumption.

Quote24FPS Big picture: We've already missed the 50th Anniversary. The Allman Brothers formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969, and released their first album that year. What? Is the 51st Anniversary not commercially sexy enough? We have until the 51st anniversary, March 26, 2020, to celebrate the 50th anniversary. They got together for the first time on March 26, 1969. So the show took pl

The show was smoking! 24 songs in 4 hours, including a 1/2 hour break. Yes, Gregg was missed, but the band was ridiculously tight. Warren handled all the lead vocals except Blue Sky, which Chuck sang. Derek in particular was in top form. The seats that were visible on the webcast looked occupied.
