QuoteHairball Quotegeorgelicks Quotebye bye johnny Quotegeorgelicks We'll not hear anything about the new album until next year, the whole band will be on vacations/off time during the next 3 months at least with studio sessions booked in early December. Any word on the December studio sessions, georgelicks? The sessions were through all the year(s), the last one in November, I've b

QuoteHairball Quotejlowe I wonder what Mick's expectations were sales wise? Or would he be too bothered? Has the experience dampened his confidence....and creativity? PR/Media for the single seemed a bit low key (no appearances on prime time UK chat shows, that I recall). I recall that they were somehow seen as a "test" to gauge how well they would do (not only sales but also

QuoteSpud QuoteDoxa ...Sometimes I feel like the band people like isn't really the one it really is. The Stones are the best rock'n'roll band of the world no doubt, but the secret of their greatness is that that they never been any 'proper' rock band an sich - they are just a bunch of rhythm and blues musicians, inspired by whatever kind of black American music, who just

Re: New Stones album for 2019? Posted by: georgelicks () Date: November 27, 2019 00:22 The worst part of the whole story is that we are on the LONGEST period with NO ORIGINAL song released since 1963. Their last ORIGINAL song released, NEW OR OUTTAKE, is ONE MORE SHOT in November 12, 2012, 7 YEARS AND 2 WEEKS. Their previous long break was 4 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS between ANYWAY YOU LOOK A

QuoteDoxa QuoteKRiffhard We can only hope that there are no horrible songs like this: I haven't listened this one for some time. Thanks for pointing it out. A good, funky piece. Makes one's ass move. Jagger's vocal performance is surprisingly strong. Pure Rolling Stones. I hope there is equally strong material in the upcoming album. Not similar, since 'been there, do

QuoteRockman Mick mentioned in an interview that It Wont Take Long started out as a soul style song …. … Love the lyrics … kinda like a twin of When Your Gone And it won't take long to forget you You know I'm never wrong It'll all be over in a minute And it won't take long, ah ………………. QuoteRocky Dijon Great is a relative term. Will we get a new album in 2020? I believe we will. After that, there will be even more in the can to sift through, tinker with, and package. The Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger won't last forever, but they'll keep the cart on the track for a good while yet, I believe. Yes, I believe that too.

QuoteHairball QuoteMisterDDDD QuoteHairball It wasn't meant as a dig at the Stones or even a comparison, just wishful/hopeful thinking. If Van can do it, surely the Stones can do it?!!!! As for live, I've seen him several times in the past including opening for the Stones twice, though one of them was cut short in Nijmegen due to torrential rain and lightening. His current tour

QuoteDoxa Quotedoitywoik I guess the "problem" with Don Was is that both Mick and Keith seem to get along with him and so he's someone (the only one?) both can agree on. It could be yeah, but I have the picture that Don Was shares more Keith's vision of Stones music than Mick's. For example, for Mick's taste VOODOO LOUNGE was too "retro" and "Was try

I would add: Some Girls (1. version) Beggars (both) GHS GYYYO and Black Sabbath: Sabotage (which is one of their most disliked covers - and though it is easy to why is disliked I really dig the blend of Magritte, hangover, threat and ridicule) Tangerine Dream: Zeit Nico: The marble index Lou Reed: Transformer Iggy and the Stooges: Raw power

QuoteDoxa An interesting thread and issue. To me YA-YA'S always been an essential album, a part of the golden run of albums from BEGGARS to EXILE, like an artistic transformation from the band and sound of BEGGARS BANQUET/LET IT BLEED to the band and sound of STICKY FINGERS/EXILE. A 'bridge album' from the 60's to 70's if you like. But I do get the criticism of how

Have just received the reissue. It is aminor shock listening to Talk Is Cheap again. It hasn't aged very well. The first tracks are o.k. though. But as a whole there is less to enjoy, than I remembered. Keith's vocal can't make the jams and riffs come to life. Micks first two solo albums are not flawless masterpieces in any respect, but I will prefer listening to them anytime.

HONK makes one certain that the new album really is on the way. I mean: there are no new tracks on HONK and it's not aimed at us diehards, but at newcomers that might be tempted to hear a bit more before (one hopes) buying all post-'70 albums. I think the relative latterday emphasis seems to show a promising confidence in new and forthcoming material.

Quotebv This thread is sticky for a while due to the fact that The Rolling Stones have been working with tracks for the new album now, ie. quite recently. Also, as Keith and Ronnie and others have stated, they have been working a week now and then on it, both in NYC and LA, recording, engineering, mixing. Unlike giving birth to a new human being, which is an estimated nine months from idea un
