Yeah that's odd. I mean, I can totally relate to "f!cking right I'm at a Stones show. Life is good" and "wow, Gimme Shelter has really lost its edge" equally. It doesn't always have to be a zero sum equation.

By the way, I'd never really heard this version before and it's way better in this form than what ended up on the album. If '67 wasn't so messed up for the Stones, they could have worked this into a true epic.

QuoteTurner68 half these tracks shouldn't have been released at all, until possibly a 2020 deluxe edition. the exile and sticky fingers cutting room floor songs are better than 80% of GHS Mmmmm. They're as good, let's say. And yet. And yet. Barring, @#$%& and Silver Train, GHS has a deeply funky groove that is an evolution of the Stones' sound. A mystic, marijuana haze

QuoteSilverBlanket The instrument at 6.40 seems to be a mellotron on mandolin setting. I think that was used in Citadel as well. Could be it.

It could be a guiro (I had to look that up!). Whatever it is, there's a lot of echo on it. Maybe someone scraping something across a tabla? It's definitely not sampled...

QuoteHearMeKnockin Quoteswiss His Majesty would have known...he was a Brian encyclopedia. I took a few minutes before and listened to various Morrocan stringed instruments that Brian might have played, but none of them sounds like that very cool instrument at 6:40, which is just so cool. I think 11:04 is a mellotron. I thought at first 11:09 was a thumb piano, but it's a stringed instrume

Quoterelms Killer rendition of "satisfaction" Yeah they always seem to save a little in the tank for the last few minutes and really rock it out. You get a little taste of the dangerous days, and that's an awesome thing indeed.

Quotealimente QuoteTestify Shine A Light Say what you want, but this one's perfect, inc. Ronnie's solo! Well They missed half the second verse, but otherwise, yes, it is a nice rendition. They nailed the tempo. Nice to see OOC back in the set.

Quotemtaylor Could be or not. Depends on their health situation until next possible show. We were writing the epitaphs after the 02 in 2007. It could've been it, but it wasn't, and yes, one day it will be. Live for today!

Quotedrbryant On a number of stops on the 72 Tour, they would play "Love in Vain" followed by "Sweet Virginia" and "Loving Cup" on acoustics. Does that count? Yeah, but that's back when audiences smoked pot. You could do more slow tunes but you'd have to hand out joints at the front gate. And the stiffs in the audience would have to smoke them! That

Great pics. wonderful story from Freejack about the jazz museum etc. Thanks all for the reviews. I love when they do stuff like pull out a cover of Kansas City. LOVE it. Also, has there been any song that has so consistently kicked ass as SFM since 2012? I'm usually not one for the whole warhorses concept, but if you're going to have them, then include SFM!!

Quoteeduardoacdc What does it mean when it's brickwalled? Basically it means it's over compressed so it's louder, but you lose a lot of detail in the instrument sounds, and the quiet parts are less quiet than they were actually played. It's not the end of the world, but it's not a "real" recording of how it was played and how it sounded at the show. It&#

QuoteLongBeachArena72 QuoteDandelionPowderman Quoteohotos QuoteDandelionPowderman That's a great version of Heartbreaker! Can't see anything wrong with that one? It's even etter than previous versions, imo. Very nice and emotional solo by Ronnie. I agree Ronnie's solo in the middle is very nice. Just don't like Mick's delivery of the vocals.
