But if they had released it and then promised another release, half the board would cry foul. It's not like with a little looking one can't find it used or on the net.

Been more Mick like for the last 12 months, working out more regularly than any time since high school. I still like my dessert though, so it's always a battle.

So, if that's an overdub, and Keith is playing the main riff, what was Taylor playing? Was he playing the same riff?

Palace is right on. I'm listening to this right now. It's amazing how in your face the guitars are. I just listened to "Live With Me" from here and the "released." The chords (I assume Taylor's) that are going on in the left channel starting at :08 are MUCH louder than the released. The song has an even more intense bite. Lordy, the whole album sounds e

But back to original argument, I think we'd all agree that if they played the h#ll out of the song we would love it -- old or new. Out of Control, Saint of Me, I Go Wild, Sparks Will Fly, Flip the Switch were all played with care. Sympathy has been become virtually unlistenable for me, same with IORR, HTW doesn't change at all (and it's the best of those three!) They don

I think the key is how they play it. I felt like on the Voodoo Tour they played the new songs with commitment. I Go Wild, for example, while no classic, got played hard. I love the moment when the three guitars would stalk the front of the stage. "Don't Stop" from Licks, on the other hand, never seemed to translate well for me -- I think Ronnie got caught up in the camera on th

They would be, but then again so were the Virgin remasters. So, Gazza, some have claimed that the new remasters are overloud and distorted. Would you say IORR is OK with the new one, or does one need to seek out the Virgin remaster? Tea

I assume if I still own some of the CBS versions -- particularly IORR -- that these are pretty significant upgrades over those, right?

Live Licks and Shine a Light were the first for me. While others are better or worse than some, these are the two records that I simply don't go back to at all. I was excited by every release and enjoyed then in varying fashion for a spell. For example, Steel Wheels was exciting as it came out two days after the tour started, yet I hardly play it at all now. But I wasn't disappo

hbwriter, Totally agree how place changed my perception of music. I grew up a classic rock kid in Baltimore (youngest of 3 brothers) and was very one-dimensional when it came to music. I moved to Athens, GA right after getting married and started to understand all different kinds of music. Alt-country struck a chord driving around the loop at 1:00 AM and passing one car every couple min

I always wondered what the fascination with RJ was. I get the mythology, and the songwriting is amazing, but I tried and tried over the years to like his recordings and just couldn't get into it. These make a lot more sense to me. Agree with Scottkeef that Crossroads sounds too slow. Ah, well, just adding to the mystique...

Agree with many here. I went to Macca in Houston 6 or 7 years ago thinking, "Well, I've got to see him cause he's Paul McCartney," but I wasn't psyched. He was great. The sound was perfect. His band sparkled. He played a ton of instruments and a nice blend of solo and Beatle stuff. It was a stellar show. He delivered his new solo pieces with equal passion to his

Not to mention that the Rog has a limited number of solo hits that would sit alongside Who tunes we all heard a year ago.

Whatever the reason, that tour was smoking. I saw both shows in DC. The first one was good -- the second night was one of those magic nights. I count it as the best Stones show I've seen.

I bought the cassette to listen to in the car because I wasn't going to be near a CD player for three whole days. Having been 13 for the '81 shows -- too young and timid to fight the field crowd to get an actual glimpse of the band -- the '89 shows were the first time I got to really SEE the band onstage. I was totally blown away. To me, they have never topped the Steel Whe

I'm with Texas Fan that a short album with the 10-12 best songs is ideal. I've loved that in the mp3 age, albums have gotten shorter, but that's just my personal preference -- I don't have time to invest in a 70 minute album very often. That said, if they put out one with 17 songs, I won't get on the board and b*tch that it's too long. And I prefer the exper

Justin, Make sure you put Zuma and Freedom high on the list of next purchases. And good on ya for liking Trans! That means you have a truly open mind when it comes to Neil. I think that album gets such a bad rap, and it's got wonderful songs on it. Have you heard the story that he put most of the vocals through the vocoder because Neil saw the album as an expression of his frustration

Hilarious set-list whining. What if the Stones made a new album and played seven songs from it? Oh, my god. Love em or hate em, at least U2 isn't an oldies act. T@3

It's weird how folks look at that cover. I knew it was the Mickster the second I saw it, never in doubt, and yet there are friends of mine who still don't believe it's Mick -- even though they freely admit that's Keith on the back. Go figure. When I was a teenager I had a HUGE poster of that front cover. What I wouldn't give to be able to find that again -- lost i
