>>The prince parted ways with the band in 2008, when they rejected his plans for a “takeover” of the Rolling Stones by an unnamed organisation “on the fringes of the entertainment industry”. Well, that explains a lot, including why he felt the need to write this book, exaggerate his role in the RS org, and slag off Mick. I thought he'd had some health crisis, considering his age.

One thing I am wondering about - if the RS were broke when they met PR, and had no access to their funds, how could they have afforded his fees? A business manager and financial advisor usually charges an hourly rate, and PR's rates would have been steep.

QuoteTitle5Take1 As an American, in social situations in both America and Europe I've witnessed Europeans act appalled at how openly Americans talk about money. A Dutch woman told me that it's even considered bad form in Europe to ask, "So, what do you do?" Which is a standard American social opener. Oh, irony.... To digress, there's the notorious mid-life crisis. But

Quotesuperrevvy I'm sure many of the social anecdotes are true and amusing The insider stuff is fiction, and approved by Mick. The description of Mick as "furious" is just to help sales. If you believe either that Keith has a finer mind than Mick, or that Rupert believes that Keith has a finer mind than Mick, then you truly will believe anything. Interesting that Mic

This statement is odd - 'With time, I even became less concerned, although never totally, about the aspects of his behaviour that came under the most criticism: the chucking of invitations and the late arrival at dinners and parties, even though I found it very difficult.' I wouldn't say those were the most criticised aspects of Mick's behaviour. This is news to me. I al

I see time hasn't changed you, Sway...you're as nasty as ever. Also your story is far from impressive. As to my reaction to my friend's behaviour - as a lifelong Stones fan, it astonishes me that she was given an opportunity to become Keith's friend, and she threw it away. Any one of us here would have gone to that party, although I personally would not have gone back to hi

QuoteTornAndFried QuoteBliss QuoteBeast QuoteBliss My closest friend was taken backstage to meet Keith in 1994 and he invited her to a party. But the $10,000 question is: did she accept the invite??!! She was actually brought backstage after a concert by Stones staff at Keith's request. He had seen her from the stage. She is blonde, pretty, and 26 at the time. She met him, they talked

I am resurrecting this thread for new members and old members with new experiences. I have three more that I can add... - I met Dominique Tarlé at a gallery in Paris where he was showing his Exile photos - A friend of mine, a teacher of French literature, is currently tutoring the children of the current owners of Nellcote. She goes there once a week but the lessons are in a cottage on t

I agree with you, Tired, who could argue with that? But I follow a few other bands beside the RS. One of them is Nightwish, a Finnish symphonic metal band. The main composer and keyboardist, a very thoughtful, modest and articulate man, posted recently that the band had noticed the same people in the front of their shows in Finland; they called them the FinnFans. So they reached out to them,

There used to be a woman on here - chatoyancy - who claimed that Keith wrote songs about her. She called herself his platonic Polish lover or something.

Who is Robert Kraft? I'm sure Keith had some drug buddies. He referred to Spanish Tony as his best friend in 'Live With Me', but he ended up abandoning him with a massive heroin habit. I've told this here before...a friend of mine had a chance to become Keith's friend, but she turned it down! She was in the front at the 1994 concert in Johannesburg and Keith sent a

Bill German and Freddie Sessler spring to mind, and it didn't go very well for them. Freddie went to jail for Keith in Alabama, and Keith and Ronnie asked Bill to have drugs mailed to him in Japan. I know that Mick has befriended some of his cricketing idols, but you could say those are friendships between equals as he is their fan as well.

Thank you, Barbecue, for that very interesting article. I think it's wrong to speak ill of the dead; after all, they can't defend themselves. But I've always seen Mick, Keith, Brian, Marianne, and Anita as complex human beings, replete with glaring character flaws as well as their prodigious gifts. Marianne and Anita were both narcissistic drama queens and emotional vampires who c

She suffered incredibly - a heart attack, breast cancer, an infection following a hip replacement, and latterly, emphysema. On stage, she was often seated. She fought bravely, and I hope she is now at peace.

First Anita, then Charlie, and now Marianne...I've been reading that Mick has paid for her housing and nursing care over the last few years...kudos to him, if true. Hope her end was peaceful and she did not suffer unduly.

I think a brutal beating in which a woman was blinded and left for dead must be pretty rare in that small village. She was known to have been a driver for the Stones and was saying she had information.

The brutal beating of Joan Fitzsimons indicates that Brian was murdered and it was covered up.

What happened to Joan Fitzsimons must surely rate as the worst outcome for anyone who had been associated with the Stones, leaving aside the suicide attempts and drug overdoses.

The link to the Daily Mail is empty. I am not really up on all the Brian Jones theories. Who was Joan Fitzsimons and what happened to her? The film said she was beaten, blinded and left for dead? What kind of shape is she in now?

It made my blood run cold when I read what happened to Joan Fitzsimons following Brian's death. The filmmakers discuss all the possible theories and motives, but one thing is certain, the people responsible did not f uck around. They wanted Brian gone, and wanted his murder covered up.

I remember this article when it came out. Although much of it rings true, the writer's voice is not like Mick's voice. Mick is much more practical, and way less disclosive. He doesn't overthink things, and wouldn't come to many of the same conclusions the writer did. He also never re-visits the past. Watch the two part video of the Stones' history made in 1989 and contras
