If there are collectors who actually buy all 10 different variants for each new live/re-release then you must be drowning in Stones records by now. Can't imagine spending so much money just to buy the same old warhorses again and again.

Quotepowerage78 You can add AC/DC to this list. AC/DC is for connoisseurs? I very much enjoyed them when I was around 12-14 years old, but quickly outgrew them, along with Kiss and a few other similar bands.

Quoteschwonek QuoteSomeGuy One aspect that struck me with both Angry and Sweet Sounds is, that Jagger sounds pretty strong. The way he sounds on Tattoo You comes to mind immediately. Totally agree! Take Tattoo You and add a little Some Girls, Black and Blue and even Let it Bleed - and you got this sweet track. This track is a lot more overproduced than anything on those albums. Andrew Wat

I was a little worried when Angry was released, but Get Close is suprisingly good and on the same level as A Bigger Bang. It's definitely better than songs like Sweet Neo Con and Look What The Cat Dragged In.

Has to be "Fast Talking, Slow Walking" from Tattoo You deluxe.

Quotedeardoctor After ten times listening I've never expected that to say: weaker than DON'T STOP. Well glad the're still active... I'll have to agree with you. Boring generic riff, annoying lyrics, lousy chorus. Don't Stop is a masterpiece in comparsion. Hopefully the rest of the album will be better. I'm happy to get anything new at all at this point.

I think Steve's style of drumming was perfect for Keith's solo efforts. With the Stones he's not a good match, their sound is now broken and lacks all that swing and roll. I'm sure many other drummers would've blended more nicely into the Stones sound so it's unfortunate that Steve's friendship with Keith made him the first option.

QuoteNilsHolgersson Not my favourite version... Lacks any sense of urgency or drive and Lisa's high pitched singing doesn't help either. .. Makes me want to go back and watch some older versions more than anything.

More stuff we already have. Would've preferred one of the O2 shows with Bill and no Lady Gaga or Bruce Springsteen...

Can someone explain what Keith is doing from 5:44 in this video? Why is he playing totally out of sync with the rest of the band? Is he unable to hear himself or does he actually think it sounds good to play like that... I've noticed similar weird playing from him on other songs as well.

Keith singing Gimme Shelter in the 90's was better and more authentic than any version with Mick since 2012 at least. Steve's drumming was much cooler back then also when he didn't play like he was afraid of stepping on someone's toes.

Keith looks very happy this tour which is good to see. His playing is maybe better than in 2017 but not very different from 2018-2021. I feel like sometimes people are judging Keith more based on how he looks on stage rather than how he plays.

QuoteNashvilleBlues And when was the last time Gimme Shelter wasn’t played? Belly Up 2015? As for public shows I'm guessing O2 #3 2007.

They've played it over 800 times. Don't need to hear it again. Best versions were in 1975-76 and 1997-2003. It was just boring and lifeless when they played it 2012-2021.

Keith's playing is decent overall but mistakes happen in every show. His playing has been awful on some songs this tour. I don't see any improvement from 2021 or 2019. The shows are pretty similar in terms of performance, none of them are perfect.

Quotekeefriffhards Some poster the other day said Ronnie's creating art with his weird solos, but this doesn't belong in the Tate Gallery it belongs in the garbage. Are you seriously reciting yourself from an older thread, your statement is not more true this time. Ronnie solos don't belong in the garbage. I find his intense improvised solos very enjoyable, powerful and energetic

Very nice show! Always wanted to see more of this show after the Four Flicks teaser. Band is inspired and having fun. Love how Keith almost launches into a second solo on HTW when it's Chuck's turn, you don't see that too often. Killer versions of Bitch, Going To A Go Go, Brown Sugar and many more.

QuoteHairball he seems to be losing his focus again - same happened in the US '21 about half way through the tour. Not really true, that was just something made up by a few users here last year after Keith messed up his solo on Sad Sad Sad and people made a big deal out of it, while in reality his playing was pretty much on the same level the whole tour. Keith has routinely made a lot

You Got Me Rocking sounds so flat without Charlie. Probably the worst version I've ever heard.

QuoteStonedRambler Quotebam That CYHMK was almost like when they used to play abridged versions of FM songs as singles on AM radio. Very short sax and guitar breaks. Great KR riffing, but other than that . . . . It just totally misses Charlie's swing... Compare how static it sounds compared to this: (They played it like double tempo or so tonight. Like some beat song) I think the Glast

Interesting merge, so basically any discussion about how they play a certain song live belongs in the setlist thread?
Forum: Tell Me

Agreed. I would much rather have Ronnie guitar soloing over it. Since 2012 or so it's just a boring song live, doesn't have any edge to it anymore.

Well most of their songs are pretty interchangeable anyway so I don't think the audience cares as long as they play Alive, Even Flow and a few others.

Quotepowerage78 2022 shows are far better. Yes for sure. Keith and Ronnie just wasn't up to par in 2003, and Mick is much better today. And Steve just brings so much new energy to the band. Can't wait for the 2023 tour, it will definitely be the best so far.

QuoteMabru Sorry if I spoiled the party but I thought it was ok because it was already posted on some social media accounts and the painted version was also posted here earlier. Of course it's ok to post the setlist here. If people think it's important to see what 2 songs they have changed in the setlist in real time they should think about their priorities in life.

QuoteStoneage The setlists are great - for the first 8 songs of the show. From then on (9-19) it is the usual suspects, and they are the same for every show. That pattern is not going to change so it is no use even discussing here on the forum. QuoteStoneage What is the point discussing at all? The setlist is the same as the last time. Interesting till about song number eight and from then on

It sounds choppy and tentative, can see what Steve is going for but it doesn't really swing without Charlie. Mick looks uncomfortable, don't think he likes it either.

I was hoping for a short rehearsal clip, but Mick waving from a boat is also fine I guess.
