We Were the Mods Archive on 4 In 1973, The Who released Quadrophrenia, an ambitious rock concept album that told the story of Jimmy, the compelling young mod struggling through the hot summer of 1964. Five years after the record release, Quadrophenia was adapted into a cult classic film. Combined, Quadrophenia defined more than one generation. Did any of us anticipate a Quadrophenia re

Quotejahisnotdead Quotekeefriffhards The Stones are loosing integrity, they have become so fractured at this point in time, what happens now effects the past. Would Keith and Mick of the 60s and 70s have had anything to do with the product that's being put out now as the Stones. So desperate to be valid in some way or another in old age they are open to let whatever will happen to their l

Here in the UK, I quite often get either "bad gateway" or a warning message with words to the effect that iorr.org does not support a secure connection and that if I continue it is at my own risk. Deleting my browsing data sometimes resolves the issue but not always.

Quoteumakmehrd Agreed.. at this point it's really all nostalgia for both bands.. but its the music we grew up on and love.... I'm looking forward to Vancouver Sept 23... don't really care who's (pardon the pun) on the Drums or Bass... I'm there to see Pete's windmills and Rogers Mic twirls There were mic twirls in 2024 but none at the two shows I saw this year. A

MUCH better PR is this terrific 45-minute interview with Pete, which was aired this morning. He talks briefly about the US tour at the end and says that whether they do anything after that is down to Roger.

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotefrankotero Personally I don't think this will affect the tour. In the end it will be sold out and people will say they loved it. For the record I'm also in disagreement about Zac's departure. Take it or leave, that's the hard truth. Time will tell if the tour sells out. Fan reaction will determine its success as a band. There may be a lot of people t

What a load of tosh! The Two are making it sound as if they are doing Zak a magnaminous favour! They are presumably not long off retirement, which would still leave young Zak plenty of time after that to devote all his energy to making his projects a success, as they put it. So the damage limitation ain't fooling no one, or at least not me.

Utterly abominable. And after Roger had the gall to claim catgorically that the previously reported antics of his were all fake news. He should come clean instead of hiding behind Pete, which is what it looks like yet again.

QuoteRoom1009 Dear Beast - thank you for the kind comments. I really enjoyed doing Paul's show, he wouldn't stop talking!! I'm looking forward to the day when a future guest will select Jiving Sister Fanny...it could be you? Ha - I see what you did there, Bob! Well, possibly somewhere down the line, except the top three depend on the day, so might not include Jiving Sister Fa

That is really dismaying to hear, as I had that exact same experience a few years back. I fought with the fan club for a refund just on principle. They tried to fob me off with some other "benefit" that was of no interest to me whatsover, as the only thing I'd wanted was the early access. I flatly refused their offer and eventually they caved in and gave me the refund. But if t

Thanks, Bob. If I may say so, gold rings on you - you are really a tip-top interviewer! I've been thoroughly enjoying all the podcasts and this one took me on a trip down memory lane, in particular to that Polish train journey, the Berlin premiere of Shine A Light, and my bearing witness to that infamous call in a New York hotel that led to my name being on one of the resulting Beacon ti

Roger was in good voice and good mood at his show last night. A few songs in, he explained to the audience that the recent press stories emanating from an "inside source" about dressing room rows were FAKE NEWS and never happened!! We Won't Get Fooled Again, then...

Quotepeoplewitheyes I don't think Pete had any problem with Zak. Seems more like Rog got pissed with Zak, Zak and Rog had a big falling out that they have now patched up. Agreed. Pete's message reads like an appeasement to the instigator, even to the point of taking blame, though Lord only knows what his knee might have had to do with sound issues. He clearly doesn't want to roc

QuoteBig Al Quotepeoplewitheyes Nice to read such honesty from PT Indeed! Such an honest and clarifying message from Pete, there. Indeed indeed! Let's see if Roger deigns to explain his take on it in similar spirit, Am not holding my breath but you never know.

WTF??? This is totally outrageous! Zak is fantastic and brings so much to the peformance. I don't get how he could be blamed for the sound issues they were dogged with on the second night. But I was right on the stage and could see at close hand how pissed off Roger was. Pete was much more sanguine and took it all in his stride, but then he's not the lead singer. I may be wrong but I im

Thursday was the better night - not least because tonight they were beset by sound problems of some kind. A couple of times it happened that they'd get half way into a song and have to restart because Roger either couldn't hear the drums or anything but a mish-mash that he said he couldn't sing to. And a couple of times, even after restarting, he would just eventually give up and

By contrast, I loved that setlist and will not complain if I hear it repeated song for song on Sunday. Don't think I've ever heard them do Love Ain't for Keeping before or, if I have, it was a very long time ago. As to the sound, I found it a definite improvement after Level 42, who sounded very muffled and fuzzy to my ears until later on in their set, when it seemed to improve

We'd all love him to be back except he revealed in December 2024 that he couldn't read or watch anything after losing sight due to an eye infection. I don't know if there's been a progress update since. Hopefully, this new album announcement is a good sign of his recovery.

Very sad news but indeed she had by all reports been struggling with her health for quite some years, not helped either by her brush with Covid-19 and its long-term effects. She was inimitable and I have great memories of all the numerous performances of hers that I saw. The last few times she had a walking stick and chair always to hand. RIP Marianne.

I think the general limit on all tickets is normally six? But whether anyone can actually get six pit tickets in one go when they first go on sale is another matter. It can be hard enough to get even a single one, or at least initially, as many of them are tied up with expensive packages of one kind or another. It takes steely patience to wait until nearer the time for ticket drops but they do al

Yes, they were, with Dick Taylor the particular highlight for me. I'd seen them several times before and always enjoyed their performances but that night it was a bit sad to think it was their last. It's good news that Dick Taylor is due to perform at the Stones Fan Museum this year. We look forward to a report on here from anyone who attends!
