Different strokes for different folks! That's exactly what I don't like about the women's game, as it too often makes for an uninteresting match that can be over and done with in two sets. I much prefer the men's with a potential four or five sets (which is also why I disagree with the equal prize money for men and women in tennis).

I hadn't watched any of the US Open matches but decided last night to watch this one and am so glad I did. I can't remember when I last saw such a thrilling women's tennis match from start to finish, with some amazing play from both players. The two of them were fantastic, though of course I was rooting for my fellow Brit Never mind the tennis, Emma Raducanu seems to have such

Many of us will have seen the A B C and D of Boogie Woogie (the C being Charlie). Here's the A (Axel Zwingenberger) talking about Charlie, who is also heard speaking in this piece, including in his appearance on Desert Island Discs in 2001. And here's Charlie as that castaway choosing the eight songs - including his favourite of them all - and the book and luxury item that h

This attempt by the venue to cover its back has to be better than nothing but in reality it creates a false sense of security and is basically meaningless. It's just not possible to check on the status of every single maskless person in the midde of a huge crowd of tens of thousands. In all but a minority of cases, i.e., people standing or sitting within their reach, security inside the venu

Quoterustytrinket86 QuoteHairball From USA Today: Large outdoor gatherings are safer than large indoor gatherings, but experts still warn that COVID-19 can be transmitted outside, especially in crowds. “The main challenge there is going to be that any attendee won't know everyone else's vaccination status, and we are seeing that delta is much more transmissible than previous vers

Quotehopkins They sorta should be refundable. The Rolling Stones is what was contracted with the ticket sale. All the advertising prominently features Mr.Watts. It's not like a Broadway show where you could get a stand in for a character part. Now I trust that you're correct because I don't know anything about the actual legalities but it's my feeling. QuoteTornAndFried QuoteIrix Quotewonderboy I'm sure they'll tell him to play it like he feels it. Like Karl Denson plays it like he feels it - and does not try to imitate Bobby Keys. Which is why he sounds so put of place doing a Coltrane-esque jazz solo on Brown Sugar. Thank you for proving my earlier point!

QuoteDGA35 I wonder if he's going to play the songs in his style or try to copy Charlie's style? Either way, I'm betting on him being lambasted around here. I don't envy him for that.

Very humbling statement from Steve Jordan. He knows the enormity of the challenge ahead of him when he's going to be under such a huge glaring global spotlight of comparison, criticism and all the rest of it.

All kudos to the UK’s youngest-ever Olympian 13-year-old Sky Brown, who won bronze medal in park skateboarding. And that after fracturing her skull in a serious skateboarding accident only a year or so ago. The same congrats to the UK’s Charlotte Worthington on her gold medal in the BMX freestyle. Equally jaw-dropping talent.

Double vaccinated people are three times less likely than unvaccinated people to test positive for coronavirus, according to the React-1 study. The latest terrible pandemic trend? Vaccine hypocrites Some people have been wearing disguises to vaccine appointments, because they don’t want to be seen by anti-vax friends. The culprit? Culture war capitalism The hottest summer accessories for people who don’t want to die a horrible death but are ashamed to admit it? A wig and dark glasses. It has been reported that some people in Missou
