I'm looking forward to the blues album (although new Jagger/Richards compositions naturally interest me more) but I agree it'll be interesting to see how well it does. On the one hand, as others have said it may not do that well as it seems blues covers records don't generally sell like hot cakes, on the other hand it's the Stones, Clapton is reportedly guesting on it (perhaps

I went yesterday and thought it was phenomenal, it really is a dream come true for a Stones fan! My train from Cardiff was stuck at a signal for an hour so I was worried I would miss my slot but as I left quite a big gap between the train arriving and the exhibition time I made it without a problem. So much effort had obviously been put into the exhibition and the guys, the organisers and des

Quotehockenheim95 Quotekeefmick I will be shocked if they don't play more shows with Exhibitionism coming to the U.S. in November. My guess is they will announce the dates of Exhibitionism and the dates of the shows at the same time. Hopefully soon. For Exhibitionism in London they didn't even play one show... I was really surprised by this, when they announced the exhibition I imag

Quoteduke richardson even they cant make it sound like that original. btw, does Keith play on the original? Whoops, forgot that Mick (Jagger) plays rhythm on the original (according to the interwebs anyway). I was thinking of the live versions. Plus, regarding covers in general often I find that vibe of Keith's is sorely lacking.

It's a tough one. Generally I'm not a huge fan of stadium shows but then the bigger the venue, the cheaper the tickets (generally) so the best seats at a bigger show will be cheaper than the best seats at a smaller show. I've seen the Stones twice - once at Twickenham in 2006 and then Hyde Park in 2013 and I think the Hyde Park show was better, as it was GA I got near the front

I'm a huge fan of Isbell and Adams (especially Isbell - the guy's a phenomenal guitarist and writer, I get a real Stones vibe from his stuff) but I thought the performance was pretty underwhelming to be honest. Stones stuff is difficult to cover well, especially guitar wise as Keith's parts may be simple but it's tough to capture the same attitude and vibe he brings to his pla

It's a real shame that this has clouded what looks like a magnificent exhibition. Can't wait to go next time I'm back home London way. I guess we'll never know the truth behind what happened re him being invited or not. I mean, Bill was invited who made his feelings about the 2012 reunion known (although maybe it was because he's a more 'key' member - he was aro

QuoteBoognish Recently Bruce played in Toronto and he saw a woman in the crowd, an 89 year old grandmother, and he had her come up on stage and they slow danced together. That's something you'll never see The Stones do. Also, Bruce is known for taking requests. Have the Stones ever taken a request from the audience before? Was that during the "Dancing In The Dark"? If so

I agree with the sentiments of the Springsteen fan. With the sad passing of many of my favourite musicians over the last few years it's made it all too real that in the really not too distant future none of my favourite acts will be touring. Given that live music is the thing I love most in the world they will bleak days for me indeed. Still, I am 24 so I guess that was inevitable! However,

Booked tickets last night to see Queen + Adam Lambert in Brussels with my dad. Afterwards we're heading to Switzerland as my dad grew up out there and he wants to show me where he lived. It means I'll have a chance to check out the Queen exhibition in Montreux and the Freddie statue. It'll be my first time seeing them live since Hyde Park in 2005 (hard to believe it was 11 year

As someone from the 'download generation' I got into vinyl predominantly because I wanted to have a record collection. Downloads serve a purpose but there's nothing like having a physical copy. I agree that vinyl records seem far more like 'artworks' than CDs and downloads. Plus, I think the act of listening to a record on vinyl is more fulfilling than listening to a

QuoteRollin92 QuoteSeb91 QuoteOlly Whenever the Stones kick off another hugely successful and lucrative tour, I can't help but wonder what Wyman makes of it all. Incredible to think that the Stones have exsited in their post-Wyman form for 80% of the time they existed with Wyman in the band. Another seven years, and the Stones will have existed for longer without Wyman than with him.

I don't think Bill is being out of order re The O2 show - he should at least have been told what songs to go over and have had some form of rehearsal with them, especially as the guests got a soundcheck. In my opinion it all comes down to money/image - had they done a full set with Taylor and Bill for the 50th, if they hadn't have stuck around everything that came after would have b

QuoteLieB If you think about it, it's not so difficult to find someone playing Keith-inspired rhythm guitar and a good country-rock vocalist and Mick T could put on a great SF themed show. He needs to find good people with high musical standards and not do the lead vocals himself. Somebody like Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes could be rhythm guitarist. On lead vocal, why not find somebody

QuoteMr. Jimi QuoteSeb91 QuotePhillyFAN Well there is still time for them to change their minds about bringing Taylor back. The tour does not start until the end of May. Plenty of time to rehearse a few songs. If Mick Jagger thinks the fans want him back, I believe they will put him in for a few songs. The thing is, as has been said, without MT the guys can still sell out stadia in seconds all

I agree that I doubt there has been a major falling out. My guess is that the reason why Taylor's involvement (and Wyman's for that matter) wasn't bigger is the amount of work involved. The songs would have had to have been rearranged for three guitars and they'd have had to have got tight together (again). It's a shame but I can see their reasoning. At the end of the day

Re the Maron podcast - he does come across as really starstruck and fanboyish which isn't usually the case. Although I imagine we'd all be the same. I guess if it were a regular interview and not a phone interview it would have been better. I'm a huge, huge fan of the podcast - I thought his recent one with Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth was brilliant. It's a shame that the g

QuotePhillyFAN I have read nearly every post on this thread. I am really disappointed that Mick Taylor will not be on this tour. I find it really strange that they would trot out Sticky Finger's after nearly 35 years because they have nothing new to offer. Even stranger is that the guitarist that helped to make that album great will not be a part of this tour despite it was his great work is

It's hard to not be disappointed about Taylor no longer being involved, especially if they're doing Sticky Fingers in full. MT being back was what clinched the deal for me going to Hyde Park in 2013. The thing is though, whilst I'm disappointed I'm not really surprised - there was no point dragging him around the world to do one song a night. When Izzy Stradlin rejoined Guns N

The RRHOF is a bit of a joke but it's always good when people who deserve it get recognition. Really happy Lou Reed is in as a solo artist, shame it didn't happen in his lifetime though. Wonder if John Cale will also get a solo induction? The guy is such a talented songwriter and musician, not to mention his great work as a producer.

Quotestanlove QuoteSeb91 . At the end of the day they're two phenomenal bands, arguably the two best rock bands of all time so why not just enjoy them both? I hate it when people say this. You can enjoy them both but you have to like one better then the other. Not really to be honest. I don't think it's an easy comparison as they're really quite different. It always stru

Quotetreaclefingers yeah I don't think it was the money. I doubt they'd be paying him 'per song'. The fact that he had to put his life on hold and travel with him...they had to pay for that. BUT, I think you may be onto something with respect to the arrangements...hadn't considered that and maybe that actually would have been an issue, or at least required some work.
