Quotejp.M The long version HAD to be on "Now" but I have read somewhere that the confusion came from Chris Shrimpton who confused the two recorded reels... It seems very likely, that the Short Version was used by some kind of mistake, - and that is the reason why Andrew Loog Oldham used the Long Version on Old Abkco - "Now" in 1986, - because that was the way it originally

The arrival of a Mexican copy of UK-No 2, - with True Stereo ENSTL reminded me of this thread. It holds the same version as UK "Rock´n´Rolling Stones" - 5.07 - with the characteristic little "jump" in the very last second. I thought this could be a reason for a little summary of the diffrent releases and productions. ENSTL exist in two versions - 2 different takes. One

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotealimente QuoteDandelionPowderman The Now cassette version (aka the third version). Never heard about that one! What's the difference to the other two versions - a totally different (3rd) take or just mixing/editing differences? Sorry about the late reply. I have transferred the cassette version now. Here it is: RIP Prince ! ! ! So Sad indeed ! ! !

Quoteblivet I'm repeating myself, but Abkco ought to re-release the radio station promo album for Record Store Day. It's even got an RSD stock number, for crying out loud. There was a commercial "collector's item" release in Australia in 2005, so it's not as if the idea has never occurred to anyone. It’s not very likely with a re-release of The Promotional Albun, L

Nice info indeed ! Thank You ! I have just seen that the counterfeit actually has a listing on Discogs, - contributed by Dieter Hoffmann, - and he adds the info, that both Side A & Side B plays Stereo.

Great track ! - with Very few releases. Only one version seems to have been released officially, - but as the single was Mono - and later came on CD (“Singles 1965-1967” and the “In Mono box”) it had an Electronically Re Processed Stereo release in 1973 on “ No Stone Unturned”. Same production can also be found on 1974 Japan compilation “Discover Stones” This ERPS-production is actually

QuoteValeswood Fortune Teller is also on The Rolling Stones Story - Part 2 (The Rest Of The Best) which is a four LP box set from 1983/1984. Not sure which version it is though. Absolutely right ! On “The Rest Of The Best” it is #1 - Mono, - just like it is on “Collectors Only” and Japan compilation “A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss”

Quoteironbelly QuoteHenrikBB The Old Abkco GLIYWI has #2 with a pretty sudden ending at 1:53, - and this version was also used on the 2002 DSD release of GLIYWI, they are both Mono. I always wonder why those CDs, both old ABKCO 1986 GLIYWI and ABKCO 2002 GLIYWI, are called mono. To my ears they are not mono but rather bad electronically processed stereo. There are tons of artifacts and phase

Great thread, - that made me curious, as I never really paid Fortune Teller much attention. I am really surprised that so many versions/combinations exist on official releases . . . Blueturns2grey nails it with his #1 & #2 #1 longer version (roughly 2:16) with harmonica and repetition of last two lines. #2 shorter version (roughly 2:06) lot of tambourine, no harmonica and no repeat.

QuoteBlueTurns2Grey There was a single in 1970 with the Ya-Ya's version, the japanese 7" from 1972 was an edit (4.07) of Ya-Ya's. There is also a japanese SACD issue that mistakenly had a shorter song intro, afaik. Interesting ! Do you mean that this Short-intro Little Queenie also exist on SACD, - or are you referring to the Short-intro Stray Cat Blues - ?

Quoteexilestones It was a Japanese single with a different mix. Same performance. I have this London TOP-1601 in my collection, because of the short intro . . . It starts in the middel of it, - (probably made by mistake), and have made an A/B comparison with LPs and CD’s. I really don’t think it’s a different mix . . . . In general I find it hard to compare 7” vinyl from the 60’es with

It’d be nice if all their ‘true’ stereo-mixes from this period were to be compiled officially. Many of them are no-longer available. * I state ‘pre-1966’, as it is my understanding that the U.K. DECCA version of Aftermath represented their first ‘true stereo’ album. The London

All tracks on “Now” - Stereo, London PS 420 are in Electronically Re-Processed Stereo . . . . None in Mono - none in True Stereo. Yes, - the Chess recordings were recorded in True Stereo, - but had that strange fate on many early releases, - that they were folded down to Mono - and then produced in ERPS ! The quality is mildly spoken dubious ! ! !

QuoteDocChill ...it's really an official record! You could download it at "Rolling Stones Archive Store" around 2012 to 2014. Here you'll find all informations you need! Later a limited 3LP/DVD set was available, which I bought also. Maybe you'll have luck on eBay or similar . Best regards, DocChill It really seems like this album never had an official physic

Quotebmandolini The 12x5 album was released in two versions: MONO LL 3402 and STEREO PS 402. I wanted to ask if they were released on the same day, precisely on October 17th, and if all the songs included in the STEREO version are really in stereo. Thank you None of the tracks on the original LONDON PS 402 release were in True Stereo. They were all in Electronically Re Processed Stereo (ERPS)

. . . But note, that with the exception of the dedicated mono-mix of SFTD, - which is identical to the original vinyl Mono release, - the rest of the tracks are running faster than original, - matching the 2002 DSD release of BB. So the Mono-CD and the original Mono-LP are two different creatures . . .

Actually “Under The Radar” did have an official audio-only release, - on a 7-track Virgin Records promo-CDr called ““Rain Fall Down” (All Tracks)” 2005. The same with “Bob Wills Is Still The King”, “Learning The Game”, “Night Time (is the right time)” & “Mr. Pitfull”, which all are on a Universal Music promo-CDr from 2007. It’s titled “The Rolling Stones - Sampler”, and has a 5. track,

I think all of those Mono-promos are only available on the 7” vinyls. The latest produced, seems to be “Time Is On My Side” - live, - from Still Life - in 1982. (The Mono/Stereo promo is not easy to find, - the majority of the promo’s are Stereo/stereo)

Definately a serie worth to collect, as the early albums are in a unique Electronically Re Processed Stereo-production, that must have been made for the occasion. The quality of this can for sure be debated, - pretty “noisy” - with a lot of reverb . . but interesting ! The Jacques Leblanc-serie is Mono on those albums.
