The Keith guy in the clip is about the best part about it.

My mum was at the Odeon, Nottingham, October 23rd 1963. She had gone to see the Everly Brothers and has very vague memories of seeing the Stones. I think we had a thread on this before.

Just got back from tonight's show in Nottingham. A similar set list to the one above. Pictures of Lily was added tonight. Cry if you want, Slip kid and Long Live Rock were all dropped. I think they did I'm One which I'm not so familiar with. It sounded like Pete had missed the soundcheck due to a traffic accident so he had to busk his way through Pictures of Lily. A Quick O

My tickets for Friday 5th December at Nottingham arrived yesterday. I'm getting quite excited now, I saw the Who 25 years ago but I was a bit disappointed. I'm hoping they are a bit less "Vegas" than last time.

El Mocambo gets my vote. I've had a bootleg for years but it's not the full show. Has a full show in decent quality ever surfaced?

I've seen multiple dates on all the tours since 1990. I love hearing the rarer songs but I was really disappointed when they missed Satisfaction on the first O2 night. There are five or six songs the Stones have to play.

I went to see Sheryl Crow in Nottingham, England, last night. Good show but a few false starts. The set list was mostly from her first two albums, singles and a couple from her latest album. She finished with a cover of Led Zeps, Rock 'n' Roll.

I've been to quite a few gigs in Nottingham as I live here. The only act who sounded any good were the Foo Fighters. The others all struggled to get a decent sound. It is smaller than most of the venues above. The crowd tends to be mostly local as it's usually an add on date to fill the gaps between the bigger city arenas. I've only been to Birmingham NIA once to see Eric Clap

One hit wonders. Do Anything You Wanna Do charted in the UK in 1977. It's a very good track.

You can't beat the studio version but I really like the Top of the Pops version. It sounds like an early mix of the studio version with a live main vocal. The backing vocals are missing so I'm guessing they went on in the studio version after the main vocal. It's very difficult to tell if Mick is miming to a previously recorded vocal. It's one of Micks definitive performanc

There's a nice Mesa Boogie Mk1 1977 for sale on ebay if anyone is after one. It is being sold as a close match to Keith's but it's a black one and its not got the Altec speaker. It's about 6 months newer than Keith's. It's serial number A1151, location is Bristol, England. I'm not sure how often these come up for sale but I've decided I don't n

My mum saw them 23rd October 1963 in Nottingham, England. She saw the Stones by accident as she had actually gone to see the Everly Brothers. Her only recollection is of a scrawny little bloke singing "I want to be your man" which she found quite amusing.

Youtube has made guitar playing a lot easier and cheaper. The Mick Taylor clips are very good. It really does show you how good he was. I suspect the fat guy in the hat isn't a very good player.

Quoteletitloose Kinda reminds me of some of the old acdc footage where Angus goes into the audience on Bons shoulders. never a good idea. ACDC did it for years. He was on Brian Johnson's shoulders when I went to one of those shows. They just popped up in the audience the row in front of me and all of a sudden everybody round us did pretty much what you see here. It's never a good idea

I thought Gimme Shelter had a very near miss at the first night of the O2. Check out the clip from about 1.25. At 1.35 Keith loses his way and then has a wrong key moment. He doesn't really recover.

Always open G capo at the 4th. This is same as the live version. I'm convinced the studio version isn't open G at the 4th. I found the sound of the studio version was by standard tuning with a capo on the 2nd fret but only over the bottom 5 strings.

Quoteduke richardson QuotePhilipStaniforth That's quite funny, insisting on being called Mick but not knowing any arrangements before 1989. The dressing up and getting in character is all part of the fun. I grew my hair, had it cut like Keith's in the early 70's and dyed it black. It's much easier than wearing a wig. We had stage names based on the real ones but I'd n

Quote71Tele As a Taylorite, I just couldn't get behind playing in a Woodite version of the band. Not even a decent 75 vintage Tribute where Woody tried to play like Mick T all night.

No it was the wooden one with the sliding pick up. The tone was quite odd but it sounded a bit like a sitar guitar.

Quoteduke richardson what kind of amps and guitars did you use in the tribute band, as Keith? A 2x12 Marshall Jubillee at the time. It had a special clipped distortion channel setting which worked quite well. It gave the KR edgy sound with the presence set quite high. Guitars were Gibson Les Paul standard, Gibson Les Paul Special (like a Junior with 2 pick ups ), a custom built replica of a

I'm pretty new to the IORR forum but I just realised I'm not the only one who has played in a Stones Tribute. Are there any other Tributees out there? Who did you play for? and who did you play? I was Keith for Stoned Again for about 20 months back in the mid 90's.

Brown sound. Interesting term. It would be interesting to dissect Keith's guitars. Keith always seems to sound a little bit sloppy on the 355 to me. I don't think it suits his typical playing style. I'm pleased with the switch to the Les Paul Junior.
