Definitely capo in the wrong place. Maybe a fret too high. So not Keith's error. Hope the guitar tech doesn't get fired!

There's a brief anecdote in the Victor Bockris biography of Keith. In an interview with Jim Carroll, Lou Reed had said that working with The Stones was like a Kiss of Death. Angered, Keith left a note for Carroll that said 'Dear Jim, lucky thing you put this on Lou, piss de breath kiss of death'

Thanks for the link, Rank Stranger. i've had this on mp3 for a while and always wanted the FLAC. I agree that Stills must be THE most underrated rock artist, as a guitarist, a songwriter and a singer. He had a talent for writing songs to suit whatever musical situation he was in; his solo stuff had a blues/gospel edge, he wrote folky 3 part harmonies for CSN, and came up with some fine coun

Anyone think the Stones are playing a game with the last couple of Archive releases? We wanted Toronto '77, we get Toronto 2005; we wanted Leeds '71, we get Leeds '82.. What next? We want MSG '72, we get MSG 2003? We want Paris '76, we get Paris 2006? We want Sydney '73, we get Sydney '95? For the record, I ain't complaining, I've loved all the rele

Quotejazzbass Yep can be had for around $2,000. but if you want a '59 like Keith's, be prepared to drop about $30,000. Great guitar for rock, country, blues, rockabilly, bluegrass, they enen play nice and clean as a acoustic alternative but won't really crunch properly for metal or punk though. An ES 355 for Bluegrass? I can almost hear Bill Monroe turning in his grave.. ;-)

I think the references to The Stones recording jam sessions and stealing ideas might be more to do with something Ron Wood referred to in an interview some time in the early 90s (I think), where he said that 'Miss You' was basically Billy Preston's idea, and Jagger never gave him credit for it, resulting (in Ron's words) in Billy Preston saying '@#$%& You The Rolling Ston

The Green Hotel is indeed a great venue to see anybody.. I myself played there last October, and was told a story about Mick Taylor's previous visit to the venue: He arrived and was shown to his room, but returned a few minutes later, looking puzzled. 'I just opened my suitcase, and it's empty!' MT had neglected to pack any clothes! The guitar great was then taken into town

Ideally, I agree with the idea of starting at the beginning and working forward, but a lot of people get put off by the sound of those scratchy 78s.. But maybe this isn't a problem if you're a Stones fan who's heard Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. So yeah, a cold beer and some Jimmie Rodgers oughta do it.. My personal all-time faves are the honky tonkers: Hank, Lefty, Faron Young,

I started off with Stones-connected artists like the Flying Burrito Brothers and Gram Parsons. Try 'Hot Burritos! Anthology 1969-1972' which features the first 3 Burritos albums in their entirety, plus outtakes etc. Both Gram Parsons' albums ('GP' and Grievous Angel')are available as a twofer, or you could spend a little more on Rhino's deluxe 'Complete Rep

I remember a Keef interview in the late 80s, I think, where he dismissed REM as 'wimpy cult stuff'.. ha!

Did anyone hear the story about Bob Dylan going to visit Dave Stewart? This is apparently the gospel truth: Bob agreed to go visit Dave at his house in North London. Somewhere along the line he got the wrong address and shows up at the wrong house in Crouch End. He knocks on the door and a woman answers. 'Is Dave here?' asks Bob. Now, as it happens, this lady's husband is coincide

Thanks for this. Sounds like they pasted the first part of Brown Sugar from the Perth show onto the 1st Sydney show on cd1, as the other version I have starts with an audience recording and the soundboard section doesn't come in until the chorus.. Thanks again Dave

Hey guys, I never posted anything on this site before, and I can pretty much understand EVERYONE'S point of view. It's frustrating to listen to or watch 1972 footage of Keith so in command of the band AND his powers and then to fastforward to the Bigger Bang tour with all the fluffed notes etc.. From my point of view, I'm amazed and thankful that he lived long enough to get arthri
