Oh, Boy! 88 already. How time flies. I hope he will be with us for many more years to come. A wonderful, down-to-earth, humble person he is. Gold ring on ya! Happyyyyyyy Birthday, Bill!

QuoteRollingFreak Very happy I ended up going last night. ... Started at 7:15, ended a minute or two after midnight. Thank you so much for the report. I am surprised they did not plan anything for the intermissions. It is puzzling... But it sounded like a great night. Obviously, Garth could not be there but Bob, Neil, Joni should have been... Bob has been so invisible since... well... I d

I just had to bring this back up... it was on the second page already. I hope Kris Kristofferson will be on covers of magazines with articles paying tribute to this wonderful artist and his passing will get the attention it deserves. What a legend! Only one still with us from The Highwaymen. Sad to hear the news of his passing.

Tons of stuff like this out there... Tons. I would go for The Beach Boys on an Ibiza beach (not Kokomo though) but if you choose this from this internationally recognized DJ, then be it. If I were her, I would spend more time producing other people's crap.

QuoteTravellinMan Yes sounds like an old bluesman. I think it's great he found people to help.him get back on stage though. Here's another Peter Green from 98. Wonderful stuff with some Stones thrown in as well... Just great!

Quotedimtim I thought ticket prices were very high as well. Per the announcement in the beginning of the thread Martin Scorsese is the first Executive Producer listed. Bet he makes a movie of the event. That is a pretty safe bet. I have been thinking... Does Robbie deserve such a big event? Should Mayall get the same attention now that he is gone? Make no mistake, The Band is my third fav

I guess this discussion should be merged with the 'Robbie Robertson' topic. Actually, this tribute show has been mentioned there. I would be surprised if Garth would make it. His in pretty bad shape. But I am sure loads of other musicians will turn up. Not sure why the ticket prices have to be so high. It does make it feel like less of a celebration of RR's work. I do not und

Quoteroryfaninva Eric Clapton's heartfelt tribute. Kinda touching. Clapton looks surprisingly frail. Is it because I have not seen him for quite some time? He does talk about death and seeing Mayall later. His apology to Mayall for all the drinking and womanizing was sort of unexpected. It is a heartfelt tribute indeed. Very nice of him to go online and say goodbye to his mentor. Pe

Charlie was a lover of life, and enjoyed every bit of it. Look at all the hobbies he had! And a lovely, loving family. I am sure he would have stopped. Being a drummer is a very demanding role physically and mentally. He seemed to enjoy playing more as years went by but I am sure he wanted to have more time away from the Stones so he could spend more time with his family and with his hobbies.

QuoteLeonidP QuoteTravelinMan Quotegotdablouse How is this not cringy ?! Was it just an "accident" ? Nope What are the odds that any of Wyman's solo stuff would have seen the light of day had he not be a Stone ? Well who knows, maybe the man who claims he's behind JJF has JJF v2 up his sleeve for the new album ;-) Never heard that White Lightning song, I dig it

QuoteGasLightStreet My first Stones tour to see was STEEL WHEELS. I walked down to the field and across to the other side while looking at that stage that looked like a cargo ship or oil ship had parked in the Silverdome. Just an incredible thing to see. Also, my first tour was Steel Wheels. Saw them in New Orleans on November 13, 1989. First ever Stones show for me. An unforgettable experi

I would prefer Je Suis un Rockstar. If Bill comes back...maybe "Apache Woman" (to replace "Brown Sugar")? If Bill comes back, so should Suzanne.

Quotedcba I really hope Dean will attend one of the 2012 shows. His reviews are always hilarious... and merciless! I cannot wait for Dean Goodman's reviews. One reason I look forward to a new Stones tour. I love the man's witty, honest expertise. I hope he won't hold back.

I was wondering... When was the last time Tumbling Dice was NOT played? I could really do without it but that seems to be Mick's all time favorite so I don't see it ever being dropped from the set list.

QuoteRocky Dijon Bill took what started with the ARMS tour and Willy & The Poor Boys and built it into a band similar to Jools Holland's band. It may not appeal to many Stones fans, but musicians (including The Stones and other A-listers) have enormous respect for them because they're tight bands who can play anything. They have musical integrity as backing musicians. It doesn'

It is easy for me to say as I was not there and I was not one of those who walked home disappointed. How? and why? He finished the show. No songs were omitted. The report says: After another fan said something, he told the crowd he could stop

It's great to be a rock star. You may believe that you are allowed to be grumpy and you may believe you can get away with it. I am just an ordinary guy who is a grumpy guy but I need to control myself. Being a star frees you up, you may believe. I have no problem with John. I do not know the man. I like his songs, but hey(!) I dig Dirty Works too -- that's what grumpy men do. (Thi

Quotebye bye johnny Lenny Kravitz talks about his nomination on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", March 20: Rock stars... The majority of music lovers look down on the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame while musicians cannot get enough of it. There are sooooo many bands, musicians that should be in there but they aren't. There is no one who could say a couple of words in the

Saw this on the Super Deluxe site posted by Andreas L: The song’s producers, Guy Chambers and Steve Power, used the drummer and bassist of World Party’s touring band (neither of whom played on the World Party ve

I heard Put The Message when it came out in the early 90s. I was immediately hooked and I knew right away that Karl was not your ordinary musician. What a talent! I still spin his albums quite often. He created not only great songs but a great sound, great soundscape as well that was his only. Very gentle sound. His clever songwriting somehow reminded me of the Beatles. He will be greatly

Queen Lu looks more and more fragile but is getting better and better, and I have to say she had one of the best bands on those tribute albums. Tight, tight, tight... so FULL. The Winos were a really tight band, The Clash too. I cannot name a whole lotta bands that had that sound where you feel no spaces are left empty, not for a second. Or at least, that's how it seems. The Stones was never

QuoteMassimo68 May 1965 - First demo of "I'm waiting for the man", Lou Reed & John Cale. This demo shows how vital John Cale was in opening Reed's mind and changing the way he approached music, sounds, soundscapes. I miss Reed. Boy, was he on top of his game when he left us?! Never a dull moment. I cannot wait to hear this tribute album in full.
