Quotejbwelda I guess if the criteria is whether you can play "air guitar" to it, then I am hopelessly outclassed. Bores me to tears to tell you the truth. jb No worries jb everyone has different tastes and there is no right or wrong answer here. You find JW's playing boring while others, including myself, find it amazing. I respect your opinion but we will have to agree to

Quotejbwelda Reading what I have here reinforces my somewhat negative feelings about Johnny Winter's recorded output. Frankly I do not particularly love extended soloing, particularly harsh guitar solos. I much prefer ensemble playing to ego stroking guitar workouts. That's what I liked about the album Second Winter so much, it sounds like a BAND on most tracks, not a bunch of musicians

QuoteCousinC Been at the 70's Essen show. But when he came on late at night I was tired and stoned. Music did a lot for me but also made me an addict for a loong time. So I have love and sympathy for all my brothers in arms there. Johnnys Stones stuff is among the best. Unfortunately, his songwriting wasn't as great. I have been a Johnny WInter Fan since I heard the Live Johnn

Quote24FPS It's odd. The other cuts I've heard from that time don't matchup up with the aural tone of Ya Yas. You can see why they weren't included. Could be Mick's non-overdubbed vocals. They were a little raw on the ABKCO dump but for me that is part of the charm. Also the ABKCO tracks are Mono MP3 so not as warm as the multitrack YaYa's mix. Wish they wou

Quotedcba QuoteJustin One of the best audience recordings ever. Isn't it a tad overloaded though? Not to my ears. Great recording with incredible atmosphere that puts you front center floor IMHO.

The No Name release second day 1st show has 12 SB tracks including the intro but does not tell you where they come from. You can find the date info at dbboots but that site is not working right now. I am guessing some come from the Acetate? Check dbboots website for the DAC Broadway bootleg for dates. For the Gimme Shelter movie, you can get the track dates from the boot of the movie

QuoteRollingFreak Would kill to see an original Genesis reunion. I get it that this one had more success, and probably more staying power than the other stuff from the 70s, but to me the ONLY Genesis is those 5 guys in the Peter Gabriel lineup. Its like how DLR Van Halen is the only Van Halen to me. It was disappointing in 2007 when it was just those 3, as they tried to do all 5 and just couldn&#

I have been a Crowes fan since the beginning and wanted to go see them on this tour but the ticket prices for decent seats seem crazy to me considering they were playing theaters when they last broke up. I just checked the tickets for the shed Xfinity Center here in the Boston area and it looks like 70-80% of the tickets are unsold. Lower section center seats go for $200-400 a pop while even s

QuoteGasLightStreet Quoteryanpow Quotebasti I hope for the HBO Show New York MSG from 2003 nah, this is already on four flicks. It's a good show but we've already got it. They supposedly filmed the previous show (1-16-2003) in case of a screw up. The HBO show's 2 Keith songs are different from the 16th - Slipping Away, BTMMR vs Thru And Thru, Happy. Yup, there is a bootleg pros

Never mind 1 or 2 songs a night how about make him a fulltime member of the band? With Keef's playing becoming more erratic with each tour it would be nice to have Mick back to carry him when he struggles. Why not? as Keef seemed to enjoy having him back when he toured with them and Woody gets along with everyone. Who knows maybe Mick's presense would inject some new energy in the

Listened to the audio book of Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman bio and he mentioned an encounter with Keef when they opened for the Stones in 1995. Keef was walking by backstage when someone talking to Gorman asked Keef if he knew the Black Crowes. Keef responded "Know em? I wrote em" and kept right on walking. Gorman said he had a good laugh and said his first encounter with

QuoteCaptainCorella Quoteoldschool Don't think they are letting us see the list yet as they want you to buy the catalog. They will have to give us access once the suction starts but you may have to register to see the items? Thanks. I'm more than happy to register... I suspect that the cost of the catalogue will come down hugely after the event. I used to go to Sotheby's (et

Thanks for the heads-up fzv. I am tempted to grab a copy but then saw they will stick in a presigned bookplate so Bill is not actually signing the books. Still might grab one but not as desirable as if Bill had signed the title page IMHO. Still it is a Wyman signature so may spring for one to go with my autographed copy of Stone Alone.

But the fact is that there is not much film of the Stones from their heydays and as far as we know, it might be one of, (if not the only) show that is filmed in its entirety from this periode. QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteS.T.P QuoteDandelionPowderman While technically not a FTV-release, we got The Brussels Affair, beautifully mixed. I wouldn't say beautifully mixed, but most of it is pretty god I must admit. Don't like the compressed drums though, and I bet Charlie hates it if he ever bothered to listen.. The absolute worst mix is Texas '78. -No guitar sound at all!

QuoteS.T.P Quotejacktheflash That's what I'm in for....1972 tour shows. There are soundboards of a number of them and we know there is a lot of footage somewhere. This nonsense of waiting 30 years or more to release this stuff is ridiculous. Many fans want this material now...not 10 years from now. It's more like 50 years - but it feels like a 100! One thing is that it would be f

I am sure I am on the low end compared to some of the collectors on this forum but I have spent a fair amount of money on Stones stuff. - Official CD's and LP's - Bootleg CD's and LP's - Concert tee shirts even for shows I never attended but loved the designs - Ticket stubs mainly from the 1969 tour. My favorite Stones tour for which I hope to get a complete set. Need ab

When I look back on 2004 and see Mick and Keith soldiering on with writing and demoing A BIGGER BANG; I never once think if Charlie didn't pull through they would have told Virgin Records, "I'm sorry we can't deliver an album after all" and they would have told Michael Cohl, "I'm sorry, but the hu
