QuoteProfessorWolf i don't know what the rolling stones would have been like without anita but i'm sure it would have been very different It's no coincidence their 1968-1972 run coincides to her rise and fall as well as Marianne's (who left their orbit at the dawn of the 70s).Muses of their quality don't grow on trees and their influences can be heard all through th

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quote24FPS Quotericcardo99 All About You There's a possibility. About Anita (and Mick), according to Keith. Pretty sure All About You is pretty much all about Mick as the line "they weren't about her" would be referring to Anita in a sense exonerating her.

QuoteRocky Dijon Purely speculation, but I would imagine Anita played a part as a major or minor lyrical subject of You Got the Silver, Monkey Man, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Wild Horses, I Got the Blues, Moonlight Mile, Sweet Virginia, Loving Cup, Happy, Angie, Hand of Fate, Crazy Mama, Let Me Go, Down in the Hole, All About You, Too Tough, and Thief in the Night at a minimum.

Quotegeorgelicks In Mick's video from yesterday you can clearly hear a finished song and Mick miming over it (that guitar is not even plugged in) probably they are mixing sessions or already a complete mix and they are listening to the final song. Either way, the album won't be out for at least 5+ months from now so having a release date (let's say 17th November) won't help

I am surprised how so many here don't believe Mick is playing along to a Stones backing track. It was obvious to me on first listen. At the tail end of the clip you hear Keith coming in vocals on whatever recording Mick is playing along to. I'm not even sure if Mick is even plugged in. Maybe its a snippet of the first track they areplanning to release.

Quotewith sssoul A few unkempt observations: ~ Someone perceptive once pointed out that this album is the last one on which Keith does that classic Keith Harmony Thing of just touching the lines with his voice, coming and going in unexpected lopsided ways that are just beautiful. ~ Reading back in the thread I see some problem with Cherry Oh Baby - whether it's reggae or not, etc.

QuoteNaturalust Quotekeefriffhards QuoteNaturalust Getting back on topic here I do recall that Keith, after being initially happy with the result on B&B, came to see this as a period where the Stones were relying too much on side musicians and parlayed that feeling into the more stripped down Some Girls line up and instrumentation. He was right, imo. Getting back on topic you say !! Well yo

Quotegimmelittledrink Best sound of any Stones Album. Worth it for HOF alone. The other stuff is nice to hear once in awhile but you wouldn't want to play it too often. The only Stones album with a Jazz number. B2B has one too. "How Can I Stop".

Quotewith sssoul Quotetoomuchforme I love the acoustic ending Yeah that's beautiful isn't it! And those "hurry up" chords he likes to throw in here and there - very Keithly! Hear him for a thousand miles :E +1000 very good intro single to the album. that electric/acoustic guitar blend which is so important to what is called the "Stonesy" sound.

I think you'll see the return of Rough Justice to the stage. They brought back OOC last tour, and can they seriously keep treating YGMR as if its one of the warhorses? Wait, don't answer that. They need to have some representation that they've recorded music since '81 besides YGMR and D&G. OOC was a nice addition let's hope they keep it too. Not counting Keith

Quotebye bye johnny From the "live in 2015" thread: Mick and Keith are mixing old outtakes from the early 70's (1970-1973 I guess) for the SF deluxe in NY, that's the word from a guy who works on Universal in Argentina. - georgelicks If they go up to 1972-73 the slim hope of a GHS deluxe ever being done goes out the window.

QuoteMunichhilton I cheered loudly when they announced "Learning The Game" in 2006...I was told to simmer down Right? Some people think concerts are like golf matches, politely clap between songs, sit down and keep your mouth shut. Sure, there are artists and shows that is appropriate for, but bands like the Stones feed on the audience energy. That's how and when a show becomes s

Quotestonehearted I think a better question is, When was the last time the Rolling Stones' concert audience was collectively young enough to applaud and cheer enthusiastically when Mick announced to them "We're gonna play a new song for you now"? Answer: Hampton 1981 Some deep truth there, and on a lot of levels. By '89 the game had changed.

QuoteRockman Who knows what's ahappenin' behind closed doors .... Exactly. If they announce the upcoming shows together on NYC radio this Monday morning it would be the first time in a while that the two of them appeared together and not separately for an interview or appearance. QuoteNaturalust QuoteDandelionPowderman The "hit-part" was a joke, but never a joke without some truth involved. There aren't that many songs released where Taylor and Mick worked that closely together. I'm not sure, even on GHS and IORR, that those songs are the better ones, when we compare with Angie, Coming Down Again, If You Can't Rock Me, Fingerprint File and Luxur

A nice snapshot of mid-60s pop sound turning technicolor, touches of the coming wave psychedelia, and not quite as monochromatic as say Cloud or Satisfaction. A wider sound lens. Would've made a nice A/B side with the unreleased Get Yourself Together. Some similarity between the two on drum fills too.

What a great bridge, as TTY's second song, between the SMU and Slave. It was also a Top 20 single. Short and too the point rocker, Charlie in particular really tears it up, that doesn't overstay its welcome. A cousin of Summer Romance and the uncle of Fight. A great summer beer drinking diddy.

Quotestonehearted I just listened to Tattoo You and Undercover back to back yesterday after a while of not listening to Undercover. Usually I post that Undercover is half and half, that is, half worthy material and half overproduced throwaways, because I always expected for them to pull off a Tattoo You II that year, and because half the record is bare-bones seventies-style Stones and half is clu

QuoteTate Presence is one of my favorites. I love the raw sound, the little bit of prog-punk feel; it is so unique. And I love how great the drums are on the whole album. I am holding out some hope that its re-release will involve some live material from the period. Outtakes and alternates would be nice too, but I have had enough with these instrumental versions and deconstructed studio edits
